Chapter 11

Episode 11: Fast Food in Another World

Ballad-kun is in Ronma Town on punishment after causing a ruckus at the Magic Academy.

Noble heirs are entrusted with managing their territory’s towns to prepare for succession.

Ballad-kun must run Ronma Town while on punishment, but he’s been slacking off and leaving everything to the maids of the Midakudo Trading Company, resulting in various problems.

For example, this diner would receive subsidies if they were left without workers, but like the orphanage, those funds were embezzled.

Now that I’m handling the paperwork, the subsidies should start coming in properly from next month, but it seems this shop was too late.

Feeling a bit responsible, I decided to lend a hand.

I walked under the sign that read “Oguro Diner” and entered the shop, where I found some unfinished dishes, so I decided to taste them.

“Yuck… Mike, Pome, do you guys like the food here?”

Both shook their heads.

The female manager had a troubled expression on her face.

“The dishes were originally made by my husband, and I’m not good at cooking.”

I checked the female manager’s status.

Oguro (Beastkin, Fox, Female, 25 years old)

HP: 200

MP: 200

Magic: Life Magic

Skills: Cleaning

Title: Culinary Inept

I see, a title of Culinary Inept.

Difficult dishes are out of the question, so let’s make something simple.

“Madam, keep the shop running. I’ll provide the funds. From tomorrow, this place will become a hamburger shop.”

“Could it be you are Lord Ballad?”

The manager, Oguro, asked cautiously.

It’s been about two weeks since I reincarnated in this other world, and unfortunately, I can’t find satisfaction compared to Japanese cuisine.

If the Duke’s Household could create a food culture like Japan’s in this other world, it should be possible.

Let’s start with a hamburger shop.

“Yes, I am Lord Ballad. As I said, there’s no need to worry about money. Now watch closely as I make the dishes for this shop. I’ll borrow the kitchen.”

This is where being an evil noble comes in handy—being able to do what I want without any objections. For now, I minced the meat to make hamburgers, sliced two round buns to use as patties, and seasoned them with lettuce and mayonnaise to complete the dish.

Thanks to my cooking skill, it turned out great.

I had Mike, Pome, and the shop’s owner, Oguro, taste it.

“How is it? What’s the taste like?”

“D-Delicious, wuff!”

“It’s tasty, nya!”

“It’s delicious!”

Even Oguro, who was skeptical, acknowledged the deliciousness of the hamburger.

She accepted the idea of making it a hamburger-only shop.

Until now, they were serving thirty different dishes, but there’s no way Oguro could handle that by herself, and since Mike and Pome could only wash dishes, the shop couldn’t operate.

So, just focusing on hamburgers is something Oguro can manage alone, and since just sandwiching ingredients in buns is doable for Mike and Pome, we should be alright.

I taught them the methods for making hamburger patties and mayonnaise, which were only two steps, so they managed to remember.

Now, we decided to change the shop’s name from “Oguro Diner.”

Since Oguro, Mike, and Pome are all beastkin, they’ll be making fluffy hamburgers.

We settled on the shop name “Mofu Burger!”

The next day, Mofu Burger became immensely popular, and later on, it would be known as “When you think of Ronma, you think of Mofu Burger.”

Days until my scheduled death: 1,067 days.
