Chapter 16: Daliang City!
An incense stick’s time later, the four individuals stood uniformly before Lin Mo.
Well, it turned out he had overthought things.
Four sets of men’s attire adorned the four junior sisters, each with their own unique flair.
However, he still couldn’t tell which one was the junior brother.
At first glance, all four were clearly disguised as men.
Only Xia He was somewhat presentable; though slightly better than the other three, her eyes still held a trace of manliness, making her perhaps half a dashing young man.
Yet, her every movement exuded femininity, in short, a “girly” vibe.
Qu Ruoyan, with her naturally oblivious demeanor, was less overtly feminine in her expressions and actions.
As for the Xie sisters, Zhi’an and Zhiqu…
The elder sister, Xie Zhi’an, seemed to be fiercely protective of her younger sister, Xie Zhiqu, showering her with care and concern.
Her younger sister, Xie Zhiqu, was timid and introverted, giving off the impression of a soft, fluffy kitten.
Xia He appeared quite pleased with her disguise, giving Lin Mo a smug look. “What do you think? Am I more handsome and dashing than you in men’s clothes?”
Lin Mo was speechless and too lazy to reply.
It was the guileless Qu Ruoyan who posed the crucial question, “Senior Brother, why do the clothes you gave me fit so perfectly? It’s really strange!”
The moment Qu Ruoyan spoke, the gazes of the other junior sisters turned confusedly towards Lin Mo.
Xia He eyed Lin Mo warily. “That’s right, how did you know our sizes?”
Xie Zhi’an, uncharacteristically, spoke up. “Senior Brother, I’m also curious. The four of us have different clothing sizes, so why do you happen to have four sets of clothes in our sizes?”
Speaking of which, Lin Mo detested being asked ‘why.’
Qu Ruoyan seemed to realize this and covered her mouth with her hand again.
Things having come to this, Lin Mo had no choice but to come up with an excuse.
He took out a piece of cloth from his storage ring.
Then, he produced the tailoring tools he had just redeemed from the System and began to work in front of them.
The four junior sisters’ initial confusion eventually turned into stunned silence as they watched the piece of cloth transform into a plain white garment.
Qu Ruoyan marveled, “I never expected this, Senior Brother! You can even make clothes!”
The Xie sisters, Zhi’an and Zhiqu, nodded in agreement.
“It’s really ugly!” Despite her disdain, Xia He looked at Lin Mo with a newfound respect.
Lin Mo hadn’t known how to sew before; it was all thanks to the lucky draw a few days ago that had leveled up his ‘Sewing’ skill from zero to over level two.
While it wasn’t masterful and was full of flaws, the quality of the clothes he made couldn’t compare to the ones he had given them earlier. However, it was perfectly adequate for these junior sisters who knew nothing about sewing.
…
The destination for this mission was Daliang City.
Recently, Daliang City had been plagued by low-level ghosts, resulting in many civilian deaths.
Their mission objective was to deal with these low-level spectral beings.
The difficulty of this mission wasn’t too great, so Lin Mo wasn’t worried about handling it.
Daliang City was a three-day journey from Azure Spirit Sect.
The trip there went by without any incidents.
As they were nearing the borders of Daliang City, Lin Mo addressed his junior sisters. “As I said before, stick close to me. No solo actions, and report to me before doing anything.”
The junior sisters agreed readily.
But once they entered the city, their steps gradually became more unrestrained.
The endless rows of stalls displayed all sorts of goods.
Food, entertainment, drinks, everything was available.
All of them had only joined the sect for a year, their Cultivation Levels were only in the Qi Condensation stage, and they were strictly chaperoned at home, rarely getting the chance to go out and play.
Seeing the lively city scene, they had completely forgotten their promise to Lin Mo.
Fortunately, they hadn’t strayed too far.
They were all within Lin Mo’s line of sight.
Qu Ruoyan stood before a steamed bun stall, her mouth watering as she looked at the steaming buns.
“Young Master, freshly baked, piping hot meat buns. Would you like some?”
“Yes!”
“They’re three copper coins each. How many would you like?” the vendor asked with a smile.
“Ten!” Qu Ruoyan blurted out.
“Alright!” The vendor, without thinking much, divided the ten meat buns into two portions and handed them over.
Taking the buns, Qu Ruoyan started eating them on the spot.
One,
two,
…
In less than half an hour, she had eaten them all.
Not only the vendor, but even Lin Mo, who was not far away, watched with wide eyes.
How could her stomach hold ten large meat buns?
“Young Master truly has a hearty appetite!” the vendor said with a smile, rubbing his hands. “Ten buns in total, thirty copper coins.”
“What are thirty copper coins?” Qu Ruoyan asked, looking bewildered.
“Young Master, are you joking with me?” The vendor’s smile froze. “Are you planning to skip out on the bill?”
“Uh, I only have Spirit Stones!” Qu Ruoyan took out thirty low-grade Spirit Stones from her storage pouch and was about to hand them to the vendor.
“I have it!” Lin Mo took thirty copper coins from his storage ring, handed them to the vendor, and quickly pulled Qu Ruoyan away.
Qu Ruoyan was still curious. “Senior Brother Lin, what was that you gave him? Wasn’t it a Spirit Stone transaction?”
Without hesitation, Lin Mo flicked Qu Ruoyan’s forehead. “Most people in Daliang City are ordinary civilians, so they use ordinary currency for transactions. One low-grade Spirit Stone is equal to one thousand copper coins, which could buy you three hundred and thirty-three meat buns.”
“Ouch, Senior Brother!” Qu Ruoyan rubbed her reddened forehead. She hadn’t expected to be able to buy so many.
Lin Mo finally understood. This little girl was clearly pampered since childhood and likely only interacted with cultivators, otherwise, how could she not know such basic common knowledge?
Just then, Xie Zhi’an walked over with Xie Zhiqu.
“Thank you, Sister!” Xie Zhiqu held a small silver box of lip rouge, looking very happy.
With Qu Ruoyan’s previous incident as a precedent, Lin Mo looked at Xie Zhi’an and asked, “How much did it cost?”
Xie Zhi’an seemed to have witnessed Qu Ruoyan’s actions earlier and replied calmly, “When we were at home, I often accompanied my father on his travels, so I have some understanding of the prices for ordinary people.”
Hearing this, Lin Mo said no more.
He thought Xie Zhi’an was the most worry-free person in this group.
She could even take care of her sister, which was truly commendable.
Just as Lin Mo was inwardly praising Xie Zhi’an for her sensible nature…
“Young Master, this rouge color is so pretty! Are you giving it to someone you like?”
“Young Master, your skin is so delicate and fair! Come to Jiangyue Building tonight to play with me? I can teach you many things!”
Xie Zhiqu, passing by, was accosted by two vividly dressed young women. Their hands fondled her little face and clasped her small hands, their actions and words filled with flirtatious intent.
“Sister…” Xie Zhiqu’s face flushed red, her eyes looking at Xie Zhi’an with helpless confusion.
“Bitch, you’re asking for death!”
Xie Zhi’an’s eyes turned red, and she drew the Sword at her waist. Before Lin Mo could react, she had already lunged towards the two “little vixen” beside her own ‘sister.’
Lin Mo twitched his lips and retracted his previous thought.
Damn it, worry-free my foot!
