Chapter 127: On How to Make Elrose Comply • Part 1
“Eh?” Alicia was slightly taken aback, puzzled, “Elrose, what are you talking about? I already know you’re Shadie, there’s no need for you to hide it.”
Upon hearing this, Elrose chose to play dumb without saying a word: “Shadie? What’s that? Can you eat it? Does it taste better than strawberry jam?”
“Huh?” Alicia looked completely bewildered.
Is Elrose truly pretending to be dumb, or is she actually dense? Just moments ago, she referred to herself as Shadie; how can she deny it now?
“Um, Shadie isn’t something to eat. It’s what the people of Mornhart call you affectionately, and you just said so yourself!” Alicia explained as best as she could.
Elrose immediately covered her ears: “I’m not! I didn’t! Don’t say nonsensical things!”
Alicia’s lips twitched slightly; perhaps this is what they call burying one’s head in the sand. It was futile to fool herself.
But the real question was, why was she unwilling to admit she’s Shadie?
Could there be some reason she couldn’t disclose?
Alicia pondered for a moment.
Huh? Wait.
If she remembered correctly, Shadie had said she wasn’t Elrose, and now Elrose was denying she was Shadie.
Could it be… that Elrose and Shadie were indeed not the same person, but rather a case of a unified dual soul or dissociative identity?
In an instant, Alicia activated the Eye of Truth on Elrose.
【Eye of Truth·Spirit Sight】
Activate
A faint blue light shone in Alicia’s eyes, and in her vision, Elrose’s body gradually appeared weakened, while a pure and radiant soul manifested before her eyes.
What a pure soul!
It’s astonishing that such a pure soul exists in this world, even Elweiss’s soul is not as pure as hers.
While amazed, Alicia didn’t forget her objective and continuously searched within Elrose for something.
Nothing?
There is no second soul within Elrose?
If this is the case, then Elrose and Shadie cannot possibly be two separate individuals?
So why won’t she admit to being Shadie?
Could it be… that there is some special constraint on her preventing her from acknowledging her identity? Or perhaps she is simply toying with herself.
Alicia’s gaze shifted as she scrutinized Elrose again, quickly dismissing both of those guesses.
At this moment, Elrose had a distracted expression, her face pale, and was breaking out in a cold sweat. This was obviously a sign of guilt, wasn’t it?
If either of the first two scenarios were true, Elrose’s current behavior shouldn’t be like this.
So then, why is Elrose feeling guilty? What is she afraid of?
“Um, Alicia, if there’s nothing else, I’ll go call Kendrick and the others up, okay?”
“After several questions from Alicia, Elrose could hardly bear it and took the opportunity to try and slip away.”
“Oh, okay.” Alicia gently nodded, but the next moment, she sensed something was off, “Wait, Elrose, what did you just call me?”
“Alicia? Is there something wrong with that?” Elrose was taken aback. “Could it be that this isn’t your real name?”
“No, no, Alicia is my real name.” Alicia replied, “I was just curious as to why you didn’t want me to call you…”
Alicia’s voice abruptly halted as she suddenly realized the significant difference between Shadie and Elrose.
The way she treats herself, and… the tone of her speech.
Keen intuition connected all the details together, and a fourth possibility that could explain everything instantly surfaced in her mind.
Alicia swallowed hard.
Wow, could this reason be a bit outrageous?
If Elrose truly isn’t admitting to being Shadie for this reason, then that might be… a bit too endearing.
Alicia’s cheeks flushed slightly, and a grin unconsciously crept onto her face.
That smile was breathtakingly beautiful, but for some reason, when Elrose saw it, an overwhelming sense of foreboding filled her heart.
Elrose suddenly flustered, “W-what are you laughing at?”
“Nothing, nothing at all. I just remembered something happy.” Alicia smiled slightly and looked at Elrose with a very interesting gaze, increasingly convinced that her guess was correct.
Alicia’s smile grew wider.
Eh, speaking of which, hadn’t she been rather forward with her before?
Perhaps it’s time to get a little payback?
Hey! What exactly are you laughing about? Don’t go too far!
“Cough, cough.”
“What?”
Well, of course…
“I am the righteous messenger, the warrior of love and miracles.”
“I am the light blooming in the darkness, the hope born from endless night.”
“A black butterfly soaring from the abyss.”
“Magical Girl, Shadie.”
“This, is my title.”
Swish!
“Y-you, you are a demon? Why are you saying these things to me?”
Alicia feigned a puzzled expression: “Huh? My esteemed master, what are you talking about? Didn’t you say those words yourself? You haven’t forgotten, have you?”
“You’re talking nonsense, I didn’t.”
Elrose’s face turned bright red as she vigorously protested: “I never said those things! I never said them!!!”
Oh my, it seems you really have forgotten. Alicia smiled gently: “Then let me recount something you said during our previous battle.”
Cough, cough.
“My name is Shadie, and I am also known as Little Shadie.”
“I rise from the endless darkness of the abyss; all evil will ultimately be devoured by me.”
As she spoke, a charming smile appeared at the corner of Alicia’s mouth: “Ah, I must say, my master is truly both adorable and handsome.”
“I-I-I…” Elrose trembled all over, her face reddening like a ripe apple, tears welling in her eyes, clearly on the verge of crying in embarrassment.
Seeing this, Alicia grinned, ready to unleash her final trump card. She held up her hand as if wielding a sword, took a deep breath, and shouted loudly: “Eat my mighty sword, super invincible universe limitless…”
“NO!!!”
Elrose screamed at the top of her lungs; her fragile spirit just couldn’t take it anymore. She fell to her knees before Alicia, pleading desperately: “Alicia, please, don’t say any more, really, just stop!”
“Oh, come on, it’s just the name of a special move. What’s so bad about that?” Alicia smiled slightly and began chanting again, “Super invincible universe limitless earth primordial…”
“Stop it!!!”
Elrose rushed forward, hugging Alicia’s leg, crying inconsolably: “Sister, beautiful big sister, gentle and lovely Sister Alicia, it was wrong of me to threaten you with Heart-E, and I shouldn’t have spoken to you that way.”
“I was wrong, I know I was, so I beg you, really, please, don’t say it any more!!!”
