Volume 1 Chapter 9: The Takeover
Side. Elise
“What the heck, who the hell is that stupid mob character!”
During lunch break, I returned to my dorm room and unleashed my frustrations about this morning’s incident onto my pillow.
I, Elise Ringstadt, had what you’d call knowledge from my previous life.
That said, all I remembered was that I had bought an otome game called “Kizuyoru” on a friend’s recommendation and gained some game knowledge while playing it with the help of my brother when I hit difficult parts.
And I quickly realized that this world is filled with characters sharing the same names as those in Kizuyoru, the country’s history aligns with what I learned in the main storyline, and most importantly, the appearances and names of monsters, magic, and magical items were utterly identical. This was Kizuyoru or a world that closely resembles it.
However, there was no named character like Elise Ringstadt in Kizuyoru, and as a girl from a lower-ranked noble family with a meager reputation teetering on the brink of losing her title, the main characters from the story were supposed to be celestial beings compared to me.
But I have something that other girls of lowly noble status don’t.
That is the knowledge of the Kizuyoru game’s story and how the heroine ensnares her targets—when, at what timing, and how it all unfolds.
Once I understood that, the rest was easy.
“Are you Fine Shutaut? I’m Elise. Looking forward to getting to know you!”
I approached Fine, who was isolated at the Royal Magic Academy due to being common, just like in the prologue of Kizuyoru, and acted friendly towards her.
In response, Fine quickly came to trust me—or rather, it would be more accurate to say she became dependent on me.
Having dominated Fine, I guided her away from the four targets while hoarding various potions, and then I substituted her to start the interaction events with the targets.
It was a piece of cake. Those guys were even more interested in me than in the game, and that quickly turned into affection.
The second prince, the son of the war general, the son of the court magician, and the son of the chancellor were all head over heels for me.
I felt absolutely fantastic.
So, I decided to put in a little more effort to keep this amazing feeling going.
Executing the events to achieve the true reverse harem ending of Kizuyoru, I began spreading “a certain rumor” behind the scenes.
That rumor was, “Fine Shutaut is trying to undermine Elise Ringstadt with an unknown magic.”
At first, in the presence of the targets’ accompany students, I would shudder and say, “I’m so concerned about Fine’s gaze,” to make them aware of Fine Shutaut.
Then, every time they heard Fine’s name, I would tremble and shake, making it seem like there was some bad relationship between Elise and Fine in the eyes of the targets and other mob characters.
From there on, it was simple. The targets’ awareness of Fine transformed into outright hostility, and the mobs spread the rumor with embellishments to those around them.
Finally, I disguised myself as one of the mob students and spread the information that “Fine Shutaut is using evil magic to threaten Elise Ringstadt.”
Before long, Alberich said to me:
“I’ve decided to expel the evil witch Fine Shutaut who was trying to harm you. You won’t need to worry anymore.”
What Alberich said was the very essence of Kizuyoru’s bad ending. And that simultaneously meant my victory.
Though there was a slim chance, Fine is the heroine from the original game that this world is based on; she might come looking to snatch my position and this happiness at some point.
Thinking that way was amusing, and it went remarkably well.
Guilt? I felt none of that.
Initially, I thought this world was a “world similar to Kizuyoru,” but my current perception has changed.
This world is the same game as my previous life’s Kizuyoru. Otherwise, people wouldn’t move so conveniently.
So, I began to see Alberich and Fine as nothing more than NPCs, mere objects in the game.
Regardless, now there was no one to interfere with me at the Royal Magic Academy, and I would continue to be adored as the heroine.
That was supposed to be the case, but Fine Shutaut strutted into the academy a month later as if nothing had happened.
Alberich and the others scolded her for agreeing to be expelled, but she twisted her arguments to justify her actions.
And even when challenged to a duel, she accepted it with infuriating confidence, unlike when she recognized her expulsion.
What annoyed me the most was that Ash Reuben, some mob character, declared with a grin that he would stand by Fine’s side.
He didn’t doubt his victory even a little, saying something like, “If you lose, don’t complain about cheating.”
…Ugh, so annoying, so annoying, so annoying, just plain infuriating!
That mob thinks they can defeat the main characters? That face, that voice, everything about him is just irritating!
“…Calm down, me. He’s just a mob. No way he could win against Alberich and the others.”
Exactly. All I need to do is look down at Fine and the mob crawling on the ground at the Coliseum’s peak.
Besides, Alberich and the others are decked out in rare equipment that I could only acquire later in the scenario through my game knowledge and David’s connections. It wouldn’t even be a fair fight.
And after that…
“Don’t think you can just get kicked out of the country after everything you’ve done and call it quits, loser.”
