The next day.
Inside the General Hospital.
With Nina White helping to cover her eyes, the doctor drew a large tube of blood from Eve Nightburn.
The doctor was quite surprised when he saw the fiery red blood.
After drawing the blood, the doctor removed the needle and used a cotton swab to press on Eve’s wound, reminding her, “Alright, you can open your eyes now.”
“Ugh~”
Eve opened her eyes, holding her right arm, tears streaming down her face as she followed Nina out of the room.
“Why did they have to take so much blood? I feel like my body’s been drained. I feel dizzy, numb, and even a bit nauseous.”
Eve complained a little.
Eve actually had a fear of needles. When she was a child in the orphanage, the doctors there were not very skilled at giving injections, often missing the mark several times, and it was especially painful.
It was from that time that Eve developed a deep fear of needles.
Eve still didn’t dare to move her right arm, afraid that the wound might start bleeding heavily.
Nina didn’t bother lying to Eve and directly explained the reason: “After all, no one has ever seen the blood of a Calamity before. The more blood we take, the more research we can do. I have to say, the color of your blood is quite interesting.”
“What color is it?” Eve’s curiosity was piqued by Nina’s words, as she had never seen her own blood before.

Eve suddenly felt a surge of curiosity. She wanted to remove the cotton swab from her arm but was afraid something might happen.
Nina found a spot for Eve to rest for a while.
“Just sit here for now. I’ll go get you some food to help you regain some energy.”
“Okay…” Eve nodded, watching Nina leave.
After a long while, Eve felt that the pain in her arm was no longer as noticeable. She removed the cotton swab and found that it had already clotted and stopped bleeding.
Eve slowly lowered her right arm, letting it hang naturally, not daring to move it.
She looked at the cotton swab in her left hand, staring at the fiery red bloodstain, feeling a sense of wonder.
“So, this is what my blood looks like now?”
Eve herself didn’t quite understand what was going on with her body, but at least one thing was certain—her blood wasn’t dark red.
After what felt like an eternity, Nina returned with a bag of snacks.
Walking up to Eve, Nina took out a bottle of energy drink and a few fruit drops, handing them to Eve: “Here, replenish your energy. After losing so much blood, some sugar is the best thing for you. At least for now, human food doesn’t seem to be a problem for you.”
Eve didn’t take the food Nina offered for a while, which made Nina a bit puzzled.
Nina: “Aren’t you going to eat?”
Eve helplessly pointed to the wound on her right arm: “With one hand, I can’t unscrew the bottle cap or open the packaging, can I?”
Hearing this reason, Nina felt a bit embarrassed. The most fearsome Calamity in the world was actually afraid of getting hurt?
If this got out, people would definitely laugh at her for making up stories!
After all, in the eyes of ordinary people, a powerful Calamity should be invincible.
Nina had no choice but to open the bottle cap for Eve and hand it back to her.
Eve took the opened energy drink and gulped down a few mouthfuls.
After a while, Eve felt like she was starting to recover.
Her head no longer felt as dizzy, and the numbness had significantly subsided.
Feeling better, Eve stood up from the seat and returned the drink to Nina: “Big Sis Nana, let’s continue.”
Nina put the energy drink back in the bag and then took Eve to the X-Ray Room.
Nina walked into the office, showed her ID Proof and stated her purpose to the Chief Medical Officer. The Chief and the accompanying doctors immediately became highly alert!
Taking an X-ray of a Calamity was something the Chief had never encountered before, but after understanding that the purpose was to estimate her age, he had a rough idea of what to do.
The Chief looked at Eve’s records, then used the intercom to call her into the imaging room.
Eve entered and stood in position. The Chief asked one last time for confirmation: “Are you ready?”
Eve: “Ready!”
Hearing Eve’s voice, the doctors began operating the equipment. After a flash of light, an X-ray image appeared on the computer.
“What?!”
At the moment they saw the result, all the doctors were stunned—a blank, white screen with nothing visible.
Chief: “What? Is the machine broken?”
A doctor thought for a moment and offered a reason: “Chief, do you think the parameters are too low, and the light didn’t penetrate?”
Hearing his subordinate’s suggestion, the Chief felt there might be some truth to it: “You’re right, a Calamity can’t be compared to a human. Increase the X-ray parameters and take a few more shots!”
After giving the order, the Chief used the intercom to tell Eve: “There was a mistake just now, we’re going to do it again!”
And so, the doctors took several more shots…
The result was the same—still a blank, white screen.
The Chief was at a loss. He looked at the maximum penetration value he had set, which was enough to penetrate bones! Even a piece of iron should have some dark spots, right?
A doctor scratched his face, awkwardly analyzing the possibility: “Do you think there’s a chance that the light we’re using is being absorbed?”
The Chief looked at his subordinate with a blank expression: “Are you saying this thing is a black hole? Absorbing everything it sees? Then why is our hospital still standing? Why can we still see this thing?”
The doctor was momentarily embarrassed, but he still had to find a way to explain the current issue: “Do you think there’s a possibility that this being can’t be understood by our conventional physics?”
“Just like the Worldburn Flame back then, with such high temperatures, yet the world remained completely unharmed. Do you think that’s normal?”
“Well…” The Chief was stumped. There was indeed a possibility. If this being was a walking rule-bending machine, then everything could be explained.
But the problem was, this explanation clearly meant they didn’t want to understand anything at all!
“Sigh, forget it…” The Chief pressed his forehead, sighed, and then walked straight into the room where Eve was.
Walking up to Eve, the Chief instructed her: “Next, you must hold still and not move.”
Before Eve could react to what the Chief meant, he suddenly grabbed her shoulders and gave them a hard squeeze!
“Ah!”
