Chapter 288: Absolutely Not!
Zhang Shaoqing had a bitter look on his face, grumbling as he hurriedly swept the floor.
Even though Zhang Shaoqing usually didn’t get along well with Ning Chu and would first roast her with sarcastic comments upon meeting, it seemed he either thought the dorm was too dirty to bear or was intimidated by Ning Chu’s ‘motherly’ presence—he obediently followed her orders.
“TMD even more annoying than my mom.”
“Why do you care so much? Are you nuts?”
He muttered curses, glancing at Ning Chu, who was outside covering her mouth and nose, shivering a bit from the wind: “Come in already! You wanna freeze out there?”
“The smell is so strong; I’d rather be outside!”
Ning Chu shot Zhang Shaoqing a glare, turned around, and shoved her hands into Wen Yang’s jacket hem.
Wen Yang, worried she might be cold, unzipped his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders.
Seeing their lovey-dovey moment, Zhang Shaoqing was even more infuriated.
Damn it! He was the only single dog left in the dorm!
Every weekend he was dragged out for blind dates, and now he couldn’t even meet a damn cat girl!
“Shameless,” he cursed, lowering his head to dump the trash in the dustpan into the garbage bin.
Wang Jie lugged a basin full of stiff, smelly socks from the corner of the dorm, sulking as he washed them on the balcony.
The dorm’s foot odor was basically all his fault.
Back when Ning Chu and Wen Yang lived there, they’d urge him to wash his socks whenever there was a bad smell, but now that they were gone, Zhang Shaoqing couldn’t be bothered, and he’d let that pile of socks stack up for at least a week.
After half an hour of struggle and finally airing out the place, the odor had eased considerably.
They had managed to tie up four bags of garbage, and the floor finally looked somewhat clean.
Ning Chu walked in with a disgusted look, mumbling: “Isn’t it nice to be clean? Why make it so dirty…”
“Oh~ Are the big bosses here to check the hygiene now?”
Zhang Shaoqing rested his legs casually, mocking her lazily.
“Wouldn’t it feel better for you to keep it clean?”
He scanned the dorm, and though he secretly agreed, he still curled his lip, saying, “Nope, I like living in a doghouse; it’s cozy.”
“What kind of person are you~”
This guy really had no shame.
Ning Chu rolled her eyes.
Thank goodness her male lead wasn’t Zhang Shaoqing and didn’t have a naughty persona, or the process of training him could’ve driven her mad.
“You’re not my mom! Why do you care so much? It’s annoying!”
“I’m your dad!”
Ning Chu finally revealed the secret she had kept hidden deep down.
As the author of a small royal text, isn’t it reasonable to recognize a father or mother?
Without her, who knows if there’d even be a Zhang Shaoqing in this parallel world!
“I could be your grandpa!”
“I’m your great-grandpa!”
Just two minutes into being back in the dorm, their childish bickering started again, and Wen Yang rubbed the bridge of his nose helplessly, unsure how to mediate.
This was just how these two interacted; there was no way to advise them.
As they argued, Ning Chu suddenly remembered something, her face turning red, and she sneakily glanced at Wen Yang.
If she was the author, logically she could slap a “mother-son” label on her relationship with Wen Yang.
That’s so weird!
“I can’t be bothered to argue with you…”
Her momentum weakened significantly as she mumbled, opening a drawer to tidy up her scattered belongings.
Being back in the dorm felt comfortable again, the familiar atmosphere seemed to have returned some warmth to her fragmented boy’s heart, but when she looked down at her skirt, she understood it was just an illusion.
“Hey, Wen Yang!”
“What?”
Zhang Shaoqing turned around, resting his arms on the chair: “How do you plan to spend the winter vacation? How about we rent a place together and work outside?”
“Aren’t you going to stay at Wang Jie’s house?”
“Can’t I not have thick skin? I’ll just stay at Wang Jie’s for a month, okay?”
“Pfft!”
“What are you laughing at?”
Ning Chu quickly covered her mouth, stifling her laughter, but the joy in her eyes was impossible to hide, and her shoulders shook like crazy.
What do you mean ‘not thick-skinned’? Do you even have any?!
Wen Yang watched the cute little succubus covering her mouth and holding back laughter and gently said, “I’m going to Ning Chu’s place during winter break.”
“Staying at Ning Chu’s house?”
“No, renting a room.”
“That’s perfect! Let’s rent together! Split the rent and go work together! Win-win!” Zhang Shaoqing slammed the table, “If I go home for winter break, my mom will drive me crazy! It’s settled!”
Usually, co-renting could get you a bigger rental apartment for the same price; nothing wrong with that.
Wen Yang thought for a moment and nodded, “Sure.”
Ning Chu was delighted to see her male lead saving money, and who knows, she might even be able to squeeze some benefits from the villain.
“The evening party over at the playground seems to be starting.”
Wang Jie suddenly chimed in.
“So soon? It’s barely seven.”
Ning Chu paused, slowly getting up and asking, “Are you two going to the evening party?”
“You guys go ahead; I’ll finish this game.”
“I’ll do activities, never mind.”
Even though Wang Jie often went out on weekends to meet his girlfriend, at heart, he was still a hardcore gamer, showing no interest in the New Year’s Eve party, his eyes glued to the screen.
“Staying cooped up in the dorm all day, you’re bound to get drained if you don’t exercise…”
Ning Chu muttered quietly.
Wen Yang suddenly felt a jolt. He turned to see Wang Jie with his sunken cheeks and dark circles, and considering his own situation, it didn’t seem too bright either.
His girlfriend was a succubus after all~
Even if Ning Chu was still inexperienced and could be dealt with in just a few minutes, it was all under the premise of not having tasted the forbidden fruit.
What if he gained experience later and became the notorious thirsty juice extractor? Wouldn’t he end up like Wang Jie?
He might be strong, but at the end of the day, he was just an ordinary young man in good shape.
“What are you thinking?”
Ning Chu tugged on Wen Yang’s arm: “Let’s go check out the show!”
“Nothing much.”
Wen Yang, with a calm face, stood up and followed her out of the bedroom, only to quietly ask, “Should I start working out?”
“Why work out? You’re in great shape! Even have abs.”
“I’m afraid if I can’t handle you in the future…”
Ning Chu froze, a strange look crossing her face as she looked up at Wen Yang.
Wait, you’re the male lead of a royal text! With your abilities, who exactly can’t handle whom?
Just a little virgin, completely lacking combat experience and self-awareness!
Thinking back on how the book described the male lead’s combat prowess, she shivered, shaking her head fiercely, and vehemently opposed the idea.
“No way! No working out!”
She shot a fierce glare at Wen Yang: “Absolutely not!”
