Chapter 243

Chapter 243: Daily Life After Having a Daughter

“Stay at home, and don’t open the door for anyone, okay?”

Before heading to the cafeteria to buy food for Hei Dou, Ning Chu repeatedly reminded her.

“Okay!”

Hei Dou knelt at the bed’s edge, nodding her little head.

Compared to other brats around ten years old who are annoying to dogs, half-year-old Hei Dou was already particularly well-behaved.

When Hei Dou was still a cat, Ning Chu taught her well~

She changed out of her long nightgown into boy’s clothes, grabbed an umbrella, and stepped out in slippers.

The rain outside was getting heavier; even with an umbrella, it was of no use. Her pant legs were soon soaked, but she was worried about Hei Dou.

It had already been confirmed that Hei Dou would be taken away by her mother at the end of the month.

So the question arose: how could she take care of a ten-year-old for this month?

Moreover, Hei Dou always stayed in the rental apartment; her affection with Wen Yang… No, it was precisely because Hei Dou was around! That’s why Wen Yang had no chance to make a move on her this month!

But when the moment of intimacy came, she’d have to bear it.

Thinking of this, Ning Chu suddenly recalled the intense pleasure from last night. She shivered, and her face quickly flushed red.

If worse comes to worst, she’d just go to a hotel with Wen Yang…

She took the bus to school.

Though the cafeteria’s fast food wasn’t particularly tasty, it was cheap. If she just wanted to eat meat, the cafeteria was the best option.

A portion of meat was only around six or seven bucks, which was quite cheap in these inflationary times.

Even a green pepper pork rice dish at outside restaurants cost nearly twenty.

At ten o’clock, the cafeteria’s fast food window hadn’t served much yet.

Ning Chu surveyed the cafeteria, saw no meat, and had to find a spot to sit and wait.

Just half an hour after leaving the rental apartment, she couldn’t stop worrying about Hei Dou, fearing that the little cat girl might open the door and run outside.

“Hey~ Why are you at the cafeteria for the weekend?”

A familiar, teasing tone came from behind. Ning Chu turned to see the biggest victim of Hei Dou becoming a cat girl.

Zhang Shaoqing… If this guy kept Hei Dou for another day, he’d probably have a child bride.

If it’s really the case, he might even have a wife already!

But now, Ning Chu definitely couldn’t give a ten-year-old cat girl to Zhang Shaoqing; she had to wait at least eight more years, right?

Even though the content in her small royal text was pretty inappropriate, this was still reality.

“I’ll just grab something to eat and leave.”

Ning Chu turned to Zhang Shaoqing, who looked as laid-back as ever, hands in his pockets, swaying as he walked.

She frowned slightly, unamused, asking, “Why are you alone?”

“Wang Jie went to accompany his girlfriend~”

Zhang Shaoqing replied, wobbling towards the cafeteria window. After getting his food, he returned to sit next to Ning Chu.

But after just one bite, he suddenly realized that his roommate was a girl and awkwardly lifted himself up, creating a space of nearly half a meter between them.

“Hey, is Hei Dou getting used to staying with you?”

“Um… a bit too used to it.”

“How’s that? Was she going wild dancing last night?”

If only it was just dancing~

Ning Chu shook her head in distress and rushed over to the window to see if they had added more dishes.

“I’ll take out sweet and sour pork, and… a braised chicken leg, and some stir-fried cauliflower with pork, and braised eggplant… three portions of rice.”

She ordered a total of six dishes, planning to call Wen Yang back to the rental for lunch.

Nine takeout boxes filled two bags, and Ning Chu walked over to Zhang Shaoqing, calling, “I’m off!”

“Hey! Why are you buying so much? For Wen Yang, huh?”

“Mind your own business.”

Zhang Shaoqing watched Ning Chu leave the cafeteria, mumbling, “Let’s see how long you two can hide it from everyone.”

“Damn, Wen Yang really has no shame! Eating from his own doorstep!”

“So boring~”

“Ta-da, here’s the meat you wanted.”

Back at the rental apartment, Ning Chu lined up the takeout boxes on the coffee table.

Under Hei Dou’s surprised and admiring gaze, Ning Chu proudly put her hands on her hips and huffed, “Eat up~”

“Mom, you’re amazing~ You bought so much all at once!”

“Call me sister…”

She twitched her mouth and texted Wen Yang, “Come back for lunch; I bought a lot of dishes from the cafeteria.”

“Sure, I’ll be right back.”

Wen Yang was nearby, delivering takeout around several schools, so he could return quickly.

After waiting for more than ten minutes, the sound of a key unlocking the door came through.

Ning Chu jumped up and hurried to greet him.

The door swung open, revealing Wen Yang in a transparent raincoat, dripping wet.

He shoved his hands into his pockets and took off the raincoat outside, looking up at Ning Chu with a big grin and saying, “The rain is heavy, and the delivery fee is significantly higher than last week.”

“Be careful while delivering.”

“Don’t worry.”

Even with the raincoat, his clothes were still soaked, and water was dripping from his bangs.

Ning Chu dashed to the bathroom and returned with a dry towel, grumbling, “You’ve made a mess of the house; hurry up and dry off.”

“Okay.”

As he entered, Wen Yang took off his jacket but saw Ning Chu already holding a towel, standing on tiptoes to help dry his wet hair.

His gentle gaze remained fixed on her, smiling as he took the towel from her: “I can do it myself.”

“Dad~ It’s time to eat!”

He turned around to see the little cat girl with oil and rice stuck to her mouth, waving her chopsticks at him.

His smile softened further as he truly felt the warmth of a family of three.

A beautiful and virtuous wife, a cute and clever daughter, and him, the breadwinner… but the composition of this family was too complicated; that cat girl didn’t look like his biological child at all.

“Wrap up and go eat; it’s getting cold.”

Ning Chu closed the door and looked at Hei Dou with Wen Yang: “Once the rain stops, let’s go shopping? We should buy Hei Dou some clothes; she can’t just stay at home all the time, right?”

Hei Dou hadn’t developed yet, so there was no body shape to speak of. Buying clothes based on her height of about 1.3-1.4 meters wouldn’t be a problem.

“Sure.”

“Staying at home is fine.” Hei Dou quickly shook her head in refusal, “I don’t want to go out.”

“It’s boring staying home all day.”

“I won’t!”

Ning Chu wanted to persuade her a bit more, but she saw Hei Dou already impatiently shaking her tail and burying her head in her food, ignoring her.

Wen Yang pulled up a small stool and sat opposite her on the sofa, casually explaining, “Her personality is just like a cat’s now; she won’t be too bored staying at home alone.”

“I can sleep!”

“No way!” Almost simultaneously, Ning Chu and Wen Yang both protested.

Cats sleep during the day; they can dance at night. After all, they are small and don’t make much noise.

But a cat girl dancing at night would really be impossible for anyone to sleep through.
