Chapter 203: Mother
Standing in the elevator, Ning Chu lowered her head, feeling her heartbeat intensifying.
Over the years, her mother’s image had become increasingly blurred in her memory.
She vaguely remembered a thin, haggard figure, always busy working to support the family, raising her two brothers alone…
She desperately wanted to go home, to reunite with her mother, to understand her mother’s experiences over the years.
What would her mother, who hadn’t passed away, be like?
But looking at herself, now a girl, Ning Chu felt a surge of anxiety.
What if she got kicked out of the house?
What if her mother didn’t recognize her as her child? Told her to get lost and fend for herself?
Raising a son for over ten years only to end up with a daughter—she couldn’t help but think that even she would be caught off guard in that situation.
The elevator door opened.
Ning Chu trembled as she stepped out, raising her head, she saw the messy graffiti and advertisement flyers on the corridor wall.
Some of those drawings looked familiar.
She did those…
Ning Yuan stood at the door, glancing back at his younger brother: “Are you sure you don’t want to get a haircut?”
“No.”
“Don’t blame me if you get scolded.” He muttered as he unlocked the electronic lock with his fingerprint. As soon as the door opened, he shouted into the house, “Mom! Ning Chu is back!”
“I know.”
A familiar voice came from the direction of the kitchen.
Ning Chu’s emotions were overwhelming; her nose felt sour, and as she took a heavy breath, her nostrils flared. She lowered her head, took off her shoes and socks, and stepped into the house.
“Slippers.”
Pretending not to hear her brother’s voice, she walked into the house in a daze, looking at the seventy-square-meter two-bedroom apartment and the strangely familiar furniture layout, along with a wall full of awards.
Her gaze naturally fell upon the corner table, where the family photo taken when she was five years old was displayed.
The slightly cramped living room, striped wooden floor, solid wood sofa, mildly yellow walls, warm lighting… Everything felt familiar and cozy.
Ning Chu’s eyes turned red; no matter how hard she tried to hold back, tears began to swirl in her eyes.
After a glance around the living room, she hurried toward the kitchen.
Just a glimpse of a back figure made Ning Chu’s heart drop…
My haggard mother has turned into a beautiful young woman!
“I’ll make you a late-night snack; you must be starving?”
Hearing her footsteps, her mother turned around, but her smile froze, staring in shock at her son.
Wow! After not seeing him for months, his hair is so long! And he’s dressed like this?!
So no one can control you once you start college, huh?
Ning Chu was also in a daze.
She stared blankly at the lovely woman in the kitchen, her familiar yet strange face, looking like she was just over thirty, quickly merging with the blurry image in her mind.
It’s Mom…
When she truly confirmed this, tears flowed uncontrollably.
Recalling the experiences of the past few months, becoming a girl, becoming a succubus, desperately disrupting the plot, being on high alert about everything around her… it was all worth it.
Injustice, heartache, joy… Too many emotions surged at once, leaving her mind blank.
Without a second thought, she dashed forward and threw herself into her mother’s embrace.
Buried in her mother’s arms, choking up, she softly called out: “Mom…”
Her mother swallowed back the reprimands, nervously and frantically patting Ning Chu’s back in comfort, gently asking, “What’s wrong? Did you suffer at college?”
“You’ve turned eighteen, you’re a big boy now, and yet you cry like a child—aren’t you afraid your brother will laugh at you?”
Not grasping the situation, she looked up at Ning Yuan, who could only shake his head in confusion.
“What’s wrong? Talk to Mom.” She gently stroked Ning Chu’s neck, assuring her, “It’s okay, Mom and your brother are here, so you can tell me anything that’s bothering you.”
Ning Chu sobbed silently, her throat dry, tears and snot covering her face.
She reveled in her mother’s embrace, feeling her mother’s aroma and listening to her voice…
I’m home.
In that moment, she had roots in this world—this is where her mother was.
She lifted her misty, tear-filled eyes, scrutinizing her mother’s face.
Her delicate features were not haggard but rather glowed with health, her cheeks plump and full of collagen, skin fine and radiant, with just a hint of subtle wrinkles at the corners of her eyes, and a pair of peach blossom eyes just like hers, filled with concern.
Here, Mom was doing well~
Even though she knew that the mother in front of her was not the same person as the one who had passed, Ning Chu preferred to believe that her mother had come to enjoy life in the world she created after her death.
Too bad it’s a small royal text…
Her mother held Ning Chu’s face, gently wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, exclaiming helplessly, “Why are you crying so much as soon as you come back? What’s going on?”
Her emotions calmed a bit, and she loosened her grip on her mother’s waist, wiping her tears with a tissue, struggling with how to explain why she had cried so pitifully.
“It’s been a few months, and you’ve turned into a girl.”
Her mother, trying to lighten the mood, teased, “Have you found a boyfriend while you were out?”
But Ning Chu stiffened, instantly becoming tense.
How did she guess so accurately?!
“Mom, let’s talk in the bedroom…”
“What’s so secretive that you can’t say it here?”
“……”
She grabbed her mother’s wrist and dragged her toward the bedroom, with Ning Yuan curiously following them, only to be “bam!” shut out of the bedroom.
“Can we talk now?” Her mother sat on the bed, looking at her son’s red eyes. “Why didn’t you mention how much you were suffering when we talked on the phone?”
Though confused about why her son was now in a charming girl’s form, her mother suppressed her curiosity considering Ning Chu’s feelings.
Ning Chu kept her head down, gradually flushing as she silently took off her jacket, revealing the small mounds previously hidden beneath.
Her mother quickly noticed the changes in her figure, gasping in shock and covering her mouth.
She hesitated, turned her head away, and lifted the hem of her shirt, revealing a small tattoo.
Finally, she stammered: “Mom… I… I turned into a girl.”
“And, I’m a succubus…”
Now her mother understood why her son felt so mistreated.
No wonder he had been crying so hard for so long.
So, he had become a daughter…
Her mother found herself speechless, staring blankly at her transformed daughter.
Small apple-sized bust, slender waist, perky hips—just a few months, and she had developed almost like an average fourteen or fifteen-year-old girl.
And those silver patterns…
When there was no response from her mother, Ning Chu felt even more anxious, standing there awkwardly, unsure whether to explain her situation in detail or just to stand there awaiting her judgment.
Her mother let out a heavy sigh, instantly plunging Ning Chu’s heart into despair.
She hurriedly tried to explain, “I don’t know what happened—it just suddenly happened one day…”
Her words were interrupted as her mother gently pulled her into an embrace.
“It’s okay, I don’t blame you.”
The tightened nerves relaxed instantly. Feeling her mother’s comfort, she replied softly, “Mm.”
