Chapter 162

Chapter 162: 161. You’re the Main Character

The infamous results from the sports meeting skyrocketed Wen Yang’s popularity, causing the proactive female supporting characters in school to take notice.

Fortunately, the number of these girls wasn’t as large as Ning Chu had imagined.

Although it was a male-oriented harem romance with new female supporting characters in each independent short story, all the female characters related to Wen Yang didn’t exceed a hundred, and more than half were currently in school, with another half being proactive in pursuing him.

When calculated, most of them had already had some interaction.

The only worry was that the small remaining portion would flock together, and even one Ning Chu a day would be exhausting.

Not to mention the social death aspect, dealing with their persistent attention was overwhelming!

“Why do you always look so serious and unhappy?”

In the afternoon, just emerging from the bathroom, Ning Chu was caught by Wen Yang.

She glanced up at Wen Yang, who was washing clothes, then averted her gaze and mumbled, “Nothing… nothing at all…”

Ever since being interrogated by Yan Xinya, she couldn’t help but blush and feel guilty every time she saw Wen Yang.

“Remember to eat breakfast even when I’m not around,” Wen Yang advised while washing his clothes. “You might have low blood sugar; you fainted during military training for skipping meals.”

“Okay.”

Ning Chu leaned against the railing, looking down at her phone.

“I’ll buy some local specialties when I head back home, so you can try them. How’s that?”

“Why don’t you just send me off at the bus stop then?”

She paused for a moment before pouting, “It’s only four days; what’s there to send off? It’d just be a waste of my time.”

Who knows who was making a clinging face in class just the other day?

Wen Yang sensed Ning Chu’s reliance on him, which seemed to deepen the more time they spent together.

But last week’s confession had actually failed…

Clearly, there was something that Ning Chu was dissatisfied with—something about him that wasn’t good enough.

“I need to drop by Xinya’s dorm to tidy up my bed space and bring over some stuff,” Ning Chu stated.

“Sure.”

“Wait a second! I’m coming!”

Zhang Shaoqing suddenly burst through the door, looking shocked as he stared at Ning Chu: “Are you seriously going to live in the girls’ dormitory?”

“Yeah, for four days. What’s the problem?”

“You’re kidding~ that’s just too creepy!”

“……”

At first, Ning Chu didn’t give it much thought, but quickly realized that to Zhang Shaoqing, she still looked like a pure man.

Feeling her face flush, she racked her brain to come up with a suitable excuse.

“Being pretty is great; even going to the girls’ dorm wouldn’t raise any eyebrows,” Zhang Shaoqing exclaimed, sounding intrigued. “Good thing we don’t have a bathhouse here; otherwise, you’d be the kind sneaking into the girls’ changing room!”

You, a creepy villain, have the nerve to say that to me!

“No, how would that Wolf Girl let you stay?”

“My charm is top-notch; they trust me.”

“Please, I know what kind of character men have. Stop pretending,” Zhang Shaoqing said enviously. “Only that Wolf Girl would be dumb enough to treat you like a buddy.”

He eagerly stepped out of the room, leaning toward Ning Chu with a sleazy grin, “Hey, remember to share anything interesting with your brother when you see it.”

Ning Chu froze, instinctively raising her hand to shake Zhang Shaoqing off her shoulder, but she didn’t want to appear too agitated.

Fortunately, Wen Yang set down the clothes he had been washing and stepped up, pulling Zhang Shaoqing aside by the neck, “Come on, stop being a creep. Are you in the mood for some milk tea?”

Ning Chu quickly took a few steps back, relieved at the distance she managed to create from the two.

“Do you even have money for milk tea?”

Zhang Shaoqing was surprised to see Wen Yang so generous.

“Just treating myself to a better lifestyle; I’ll have the cheapest one.”

He had no problem with it and happily began ordering milk tea, still questioning Ning Chu, “But seriously, why suddenly live in the girls’ dorm?”

Ning Chu had already thought of a fitting excuse: “Uh, Xinya said there’s a creep stealing her underwear, and it’s been keeping her awake at night.”

With a blend of truth and fabrication, she spoke earnestly, “As a big guy, I can’t just sit idly by while that happens! I have to provide Xinya and Lily with some safety! Plus, catch that creep!”

“That Wolf Girl could probably knock you out with one punch.”

Zhang Shaoqing reluctantly accepted this explanation, sighing, “Being pretty is nice~ Even if you’re a pervert at heart, girls wouldn’t really think you’re weird.”

“Your perversion has nothing to do with me!”

“Just don’t end up causing any trouble~”

“Get lost!”

There should be some use in that…

Ning Chu sighed lightly. Even when she was still a man, her ‘attributes’ seemed to serve only as decoration.

She walked straight into the dorm, glancing at Wang Jie, who was lost in his computer game, blissfully unaware of the world around him.

This honest guy was the least of her worries; he wouldn’t stir up trouble or tease her foolishly.

Going to the girls’ dorm didn’t require much preparation anyway; her luggage was already packed full—clothes, daily necessities, cash, ID… everything she could think of was in there, so she wouldn’t be caught off guard when the time came.

That was her previous line of thought… Now, she only dared to stay close to Wen Yang until she solved the issue of her feelings.

Even if one day Wen Yang figured everything out, it would still be better than becoming the main character in a chaotic brawl and attracting trouble!

“Mainly the bedding…”

Ning Chu mumbled to herself, digging deep in the closet for her thick winter blanket.

“And Wen Yang’s clothes…”

In times of anxiety, Wen Yang’s clothes provided her with enough sense of security.

Besides, that halo of the main character seemed to work wonders too!

So, without hesitation, Ning Chu headed to Wen Yang’s wardrobe, opened the door, and scanned through his clothes.

Hmm, grab a shirt, a t-shirt, and a jacket…

“What are you doing going through my wardrobe?” Wen Yang, having just finished hanging up his clothes, walked in to find Ning Chu rummaging through his closet.

“Your clothes are comfy to wear; I’m taking a few pieces for pajamas.”

Wen Yang scratched his head, confused.

Ning Chu apparently had a thing for his clothes; she always preferred wearing his outerwear.

“We’re close enough; what’s the big deal in borrowing a few?” Ning Chu asked, standing her ground.

“Not a problem; take them,” Wen Yang replied nonchalantly.

Zhang Shaoqing, however, grumbled in disdain, “This is so gay!”

Ignoring the pervy guy, Ning Chu stuffed a few pieces into her luggage, lifting the heavy winter blanket and stumbling toward the door.

“Need a hand?”

“Of course!”

Ning Chu shoved the heavy blanket into Wen Yang’s hands and slid out the door with her luggage.

Now all that was left was that underwear-stealing creep.

This wasn’t complicated, especially since the main character was right behind her.

Ning Chu turned to Wen Yang trailing behind her: “Hold on; I need your help with something.”

“What is it?”

“Catch the underwear thief!”

Wen Yang looked utterly bewildered: “Me? We haven’t even found the guy yet?”

“Exactly! You go check the scene and see if you notice anything!”

“Do you think I’m a detective now?”

But Ning Chu remained confident in him: “You’re the main character!”

“Main character?”
