Chapter 14

I urgently informed Andrew of this fact.

An imp had come here. And soon, a very powerful monster would appear. Of course, in the original game, it was considered a demon, but since it’s not the original timeline, it can still be treated as a monster. Fortunately, Commander Andrew accepted my opinion. Thank goodness my trust level is high.

Otherwise, we would have ended up fighting it without any preparation. Even if I were there, we wouldn’t have been able to avoid annihilation. It’s that strong.

The Security Force quickly repaired the barricades. They reinforced them with rough iron to increase our defenses. Even though I felt uneasy, we had to do our best.

“Teacher, is something wrong?”

“It’s nothing. You go inside and wait.”

“But…”

“Listen to me.”

“…Yes.”

Helia nodded, looking deflated. My chest hurt a bit, but it couldn’t be helped. Of all things, Helia needed to survive this fight.

At least if I kept her in the rear, she wouldn’t die. Although Helia is powerful, right now, we wouldn’t be able to deal with Togui. Togui is strong too.

After all, Togui was originally a low-level monster created as a mere foot soldier. However, it constantly pursued strength. As a result, it became one of the few monsters to achieve the status of a demon.

“Tsk.”

“You look anxious, Commander.”

“Clarence.”

“What’s got you looking like that?”

“It’s a very powerful monster known as Togui.”

“Togui? That’s a name I’ve never heard before.”

Clarence tilted his head, but I couldn’t explain further. I don’t know everything about Togui either. Of course, I’ve seen the settings.

The creators weren’t the type to actively reveal the lore. They expected players to figure it out themselves. They must have been struck with some ridiculous delusion of grandeur.

Well, if they were sane, they wouldn’t have presented a good ending where the Time Stop guy rapes all the heroines and impregnates them, right? Damn people.

“…It’s coming.”

On the third day after strengthening our defenses, it finally revealed itself before us. It walked right over the barricade, stepping on the eyes. I swallowed nervously.

It had the body of a giant human, easily over 3 meters tall. However, the owner of this muscular physique wasn’t human—it had the head of a bull.

Togui’s true identity is the Minotaur. Originally, Minotaurs were created as rampaging monsters. While their physical abilities are excellent, they have low intelligence and just end up being used and discarded.

However, among the Minotaurs, there were some particularly strong individuals who wanted power. They fought the strong to become even stronger, even if their opponent was a monster or a demon.

“A Minotaur? That’s just a dumb low-level monster.”

“We caused all this fuss over that thing?”

“Enough, let’s just finish it quickly.”

“Wait…!!!”

The Minotaur’s charge is certainly threatening, but properly trained soldiers can respond to it somehow. Besides, it charges headfirst into traps anyway.

Especially seasoned soldiers tend to underestimate the Minotaur. Confident soldiers rush forward boldly.

For a moment, I thought about stopping time to intervene, but I couldn’t. The cooldown was in effect. Right now, I would barely win if I could perfectly use Time Stop against Togui.

But I couldn’t start the cooldown right from the beginning. In the end, I chose to stand back and watch. Soon, three soldiers charged at Togui in an instant. At that moment, Togui reacted.

“……?!”

A few seconds, it felt like only a couple of seconds. But in that fleeting moment, the scene in front of me changed. I clearly saw Togui far away, right next to a skinny tree.

But when I opened my eyes again, suddenly, in front of me was someone’s severed neck. It was one of the soldiers who had charged earlier, and his head flew towards me like a shell.

Oh damn, that scared me. I almost collapsed. No, I actually sat down. Fortunately, since time had stopped, I wasn’t found out. But does this mean I almost died because of that?

I clicked my tongue. This was probably Togui’s way of greeting and testing me. If I couldn’t even withstand this, then I wasn’t worth fighting against. I quickly caught the neck with one hand.

“W-what the?!”

“Commander! What is that…?!”

“Don’t panic. It’s just Togui’s way of greeting.”

“What about the soldiers who charged earlier?!”

In response to Clarence’s bewildered question, I pointed ahead with my finger. There were already three chunks of flesh shattered by Togui.

If it were a typical monster, it would be ravenously devouring that flesh, but Togui showed no interest at all. Togui then stopped in front of the carnage. Instead, his gaze was on me.

I instinctively sensed it. Just like when I sent an imp to my hut earlier, this monster was looking for a fight with me. I clicked my tongue again and lowered the neck.

“I have no choice.”

“Wait, Commander. You can’t take on that monster alone…!!!”

“The others wouldn’t stand a chance. You know that, right?”

“….”

“So, I’ll go.”

…It sounded cool until I said it, but what do I do now? No matter how much I have Time Stop ability, I don’t know if it will even work on that monster.

Right now, I was hiding in a corner of the castle gate, pulling my hair in frustration. It was just a tiny bit of time-buying. I had no choice but to go out. But honestly, I didn’t want to. I was scared!

But right now, I was the only one who could handle Togui. Commander Andrew or Clarence might be able to help, but even they would probably die in one hit if they slipped up.

Woooooaaah!!!

“…Alright, I’m going. Let’s go.”

Since I was taking too long, Togui outside roared loudly. I squeezed my eyes shut and walked forward. I stepped on the eyes and moved forward.

Eventually, I stopped walking. It stood confidently a fair distance away from me. I quietly thought. If I kneel and beg now, would it let me go? I wish it would.

Fortunately, thanks to the time I bought earlier, the cooldown for Time Stop had already expired. But I couldn’t use it first. For now, I needed to explore the opponent…

“Disappointing.”

“What?”

“You have no willpower in your eyes. You are not a warrior.”

“….”

“Is it true that you executed the Evil Cannibal?”

Just as expected, Togui is indeed Togui. As much as it loves to fight, its insight to recognize adversaries is quite remarkable. It’s true; I am not a warrior. To put it bluntly, I’m closer to an average person.

But actually, that worked out better.

If my willpower had broken, wouldn’t I return on my own?

I thought that for a brief moment. Until a red flash glimmered in an instant. With lightning speed, Helia appeared behind Togui, her crimson eyes flashing. She shouted.

“How dare you… you trash, disrespect the teacher…!!!”

Why are you coming out from there?

“This is going to be more fun.”

Why are you suddenly showing interest?

*

I don’t know the reason. I thought that if it was the teacher’s words, I would follow them. But Helia couldn’t do that. For some reason, it seemed like the teacher would disappear. So, she secretly sneaked onto the castle wall.

“Disappointing.”

“What?”

“You have no willpower in your eyes. You are not a warrior.”

And she heard it from there. A unheard of trash dared to insult the teacher. Unable to contain the anger surging in her heart, she drew her sword and charged forward.

With a flash like the fangs of lightning, Helia’s sword struck Togui. The sound that echoed was that of metal clashing against metal. Helia was taken aback for a moment.

Her stroke didn’t pierce through the overwhelmingly strong body of that monster. But it was already set in motion. The empowered fist of Togui was aimed at Helia.

The moment Togui’s fist rushed close was like the grim reaper itself. I’m going to die; I can’t escape. Faced with that unchanging cruel reality, Helia couldn’t even blink.

“……?”

Togui tilted its head. It was an unavoidable strike. Besides, weak human flesh and bones would have no way to withstand it. But it felt no sensation in its fist at all.

Just when it was pondering if it might have been dodged. There was a sound of tearing, and blood splattered from Togui’s hand. A wound had formed on Togui’s hand from a sword.

“……Indeed, my insight was lacking.”

At first, it was definitely disappointing. It thought it definitely wasn’t a warrior. However, Togui had no choice but to correct its view. Behind Togui stood a warrior.

“Let’s not rush things.”

Helia blinked. She thought she was dead. However, for some reason, she found herself in the teacher’s embrace. Clearly, it was the worst situation. Helia couldn’t even be of help.

“There is still plenty of time, right?”

For some reason, that embrace felt so reassuring.
