Chapter 188

Chapter 186 – Fetch – 4

BOOM!

Had I gone down the stairs to the underground ruins for a bit, I turned my head at the thunderous CRACK echoing from behind. A rock-made eyeball was stretching out at the start of the stairs.

It looked like a human eye sculpted out of stone with four legs attached. Supposedly, it was one of the golems that served as guardians of this ancient ruin.

It was also a clever fellow that would help me with what I had to do next.

‘For now, I should run.’

To skip the rest of the section, I needed to go a little deeper inside the ruins, so I quickly jumped down the stairs.

I heard a DRRRRRRR as stones rubbed against each other behind me. It was the sound of the golem retracting its legs inward.

Before long, the stairs began to SHAKE. This meant the perfectly spherical eye golem was rolling down the staircase.

The noise from behind grew louder, but I continued to slip through a few gaps arranged for hiding. I only hid once I reached a precarious spot.

As I squeezed my body into a gap, the eye golem rolled past the passage. It was a timing where if I had been just one second late, my legs would have been crushed or my lower half pulverized.

A KAPOW! echoed from the opposite end of the passage, and a strong shockwave swept through. I emerged from the gap. It was thrashing its legs about, spinning in place.

Just like a clueless idiot in the game.

After that, nothing much happened. I ran to avoid the rolling eye golem, hid in gaps, and took the chance to sprint while it spun around after crashing into the walls. I repeated this whole process exactly four times and arrived at a vast plaza.

This space allowed for skipping the mid sections of the ancient ruins and diving straight into the boss fight.

There were as many as eight paths in the plaza, but I needn’t worry about getting lost. A torch lit beside the real paths made it easy to distinguish, as long as you observed carefully.

CRASH!

As long as I could keep a careful watch while the eye golem rolled in from behind.

Just like before, the eye golem smashed into the plaza wall, then started spinning in place, and I took this moment to make my escape.

A large iris turned towards me. A rock eyelid blinked once. Finally, the golem stood tall on its four legs, looking down at me.

It could catch me if it wanted to. It was strong against physical attacks like a golem, but it was an absolute weakling to magic and sacred spells; if I just changed the attribute, it could be beaten down casually.

I had no choice but to let it be since I had to use it to skip the ruins.

‘Here we go.’

I picked a dead-end path and approached a bridge that was supposed to connect two cliffs.

The bridge that was meant to connect the cliffs had crumbled long ago. I could see the ancient ruins dropping into a gaping abyss in between. If I didn’t use any tricks, I’d have to descend each one of those.

Unless I used a trick, that is.

From down the passage, I heard the sound of the eye golem preparing to roll again. I clutched the wingless nightmare tightly against the cliff’s edge.

RUMBLE

I could hear the rocks colliding, and the eye golem appeared. It would practically fill the passage. That’s why there’s a gap beside it to dodge.

Now, here’s an incredibly fun fact.

Rolling can be parried.

It’s only possible when it precisely touches the area that corresponds to a human’s iris; other spots are impossible, so the timing has to be utterly insane, but the key point is that it’s possible.

I shifted my position slightly to control its rolling speed. When I was at the edge of the cliff, I had to make sure the iris faced me. Only then could I avoid getting crushed and parry it.

I accelerated the eye golem’s speed a few times and stood at the cliff’s edge once more. I waited for it to roll toward me. The CRASHING sounds came right up to me.

‘Now.’

Just as I intended, it exposed its iris right before it touched me. I swung my sword at that moment. The wingless nightmare’s blade collided with the huge stone iris.

CRACKLE!

The eye golem’s body sharply twisted to the side. The golem that had just made a 90-degree sharp drift slammed into the wall of the passage. KABOOM! The shockwave erupted.

My body, swept by that shockwave, soared into the air. Then I began to fall down. All kinds of structures, paths, and bridges popped up beneath me.

As always, I was using a technique called a falling attack this time too.

Unless you used wall-passing or glitches, you could say that a falling attack was inevitably used for skips. This was excluding the routes intended by the developers.

‘Done.’

A torch brushed past right in front of me. If a torch passes by like that, I had hit the angle correctly. If it’s farther than this, or if I touched the torch? Well, I’d just plummet to my death and have to retry. What else could I do?

Not long after, I spotted a mob that would become a sacrificial lamb. It was kind of ambiguous to call it a mob, though. It was a hulking golem, double my height, staring blankly down with a bow in hand.

Still, to comfortably handle the boss fight, I had to take it down. If I didn’t, it would shoot arrows, which would be an annoyance.

‘Might as well take care of it while I’m at it.’

I flipped the wingless nightmare upside down and landed on its head. With a CRUNCH! it didn’t even get a chance to react before its head was smashed by the calamity that had fallen from the sky.

It was a distance that could never be reached by jumping. If I tried to clumsily jump down from there, I would probably end up dying miserably somewhere in the boss room.

However, if I was close to the cliff, parrying the eye golem’s roll, and bouncing off the shockwave created when it smashed its head against the wall would allow me to reach the distance.

This was the trick to completely skip the ancient ruins.

I smashed down the golem’s shoulder and descended to the ground. I used my sword as a brace to twist my body halfway. The wingless nightmare split vertically from its head to its upper half, slowing my fall speed.

I landed lightly on the ground. After just a few seconds, the golem’s head burst open, and its upper half was split in two as it fell back with a THUD! Then, its entire body crumbled into pieces.

Shaking off the rock fragments from my blade, I looked down into the boss room. The boss of this ancient ruin, the ‘Six-Armed Golem’, was lazily wandering around in the massive plaza.

Though it had a human upper body, in place of where its lower half should be, there were two arms instead, and two large arms were attached where the wing bones would be. So, it had a total of six arms.

‘I can’t just jump down from here…’

If my health stat was at 50,000, I would have taken some fall damage, but at 1, I certainly wouldn’t. I quietly followed along the path behind the railing. After all, it was a quick trip from here to the boss room.

“I just need to grab this.”

I picked up a scroll from among the pieces of the six-armed golem.

It was also a magic scroll, but not one like the ancient scroll that would cause Minerva to go crazy. It seemed like something that looked interesting.

‘I don’t know why it’s classified as a scroll found in the ‘Ancient Ruins’ but not a true ancient scroll.’

Still, if I handed it over, she would show some interest. I stuffed the picked-up scroll into my pocket.

The remains of the golem crumbled away like rocks weathered, and a magic circle was drawn in the center of the boss room. I stepped onto the magic circle. The platform itself began to rise into the air.

‘I wonder how Fetch is doing now.’

I told Lize to handle things adequately, so she probably wasn’t dead.

She might be in a state to die in a pure definition, but Lize I knew didn’t have that kind of brutal personality. Of course, that included the other commanders of the Silver Dawn Knights.

The platform rose vertically toward the ceiling like an elevator and eventually stopped in a dark room. I pulled a lever right in front of me.

Then, an entrance that looked like a wall lifted up. Dust scattered everywhere as if it hadn’t been used for a long time.

I waited for the door to fully open and stepped outside. Familiar figures appeared before my eyes. It was Lize and Nix. Once they spotted me, their expressions brightened even more.

“Oh, you’re here? Delta?”

“Hehe, have you arrived?”

Lize waved with a big smile, and Nix followed suit with a shy smile and a small wave. I also waved back at them.

Just as I was about to approach the two, an urgent voice rang from somewhere.

“D-Delta-nim!”

‘Delta-nim?’

The unfamiliar title made me turn my head toward the direction of the voice. A girl with pink twin-tails, bluntly put, Fetch was running towards me with a gleaming aura.

And she was completely naked.

‘What the hell, is she crazy?’

I was startled and turned my gaze away, but I thought I saw something faintly white, so I looked back at Fetch.

Upon closer inspection, she wasn’t naked. It was just a long pair of tights resembling underwear, but the angle she was running at made it look like she wasn’t wearing anything at all.

For a moment, I thought Lize had stripped her and was torturing her. The long coat that used to cover half her body had disappeared, so I again gazed at the exposure of that outfit.

‘What a shock.’

While I lightly brushed off my shocked chest, Fetch, who had just run up to me, bowed her head and prostrated herself on the ground.

However, her butt was facing me.

“Please, hit me as much as you want! I beg you!”
