Chapter 2

My head was filled with annoyance.

While wandering the streets to figure out where I was, I bumped into some rough-looking guy.

I politely apologized like a citizen of South Korea, but this guy didn’t seem to want to accept it.

“Sorry? Should I say sorry after smashing your face too?”

What kind of dog shit is this?

Is bumping into someone the same as crumpling their face?

I wanted to say that, but I didn’t.

Shit stinks, so I’ll just avoid it… I’ll hold it in…

I am not scared because of the weight class difference, okay?

Seriously.

But it seemed like this guy had no intention of letting me go.

In fact, his gaze was filled with a chilling desire as he stared at me.

My already bad mood turned even more sour.

Since I couldn’t choose to fight with a fragile woman’s body,

I fled at full speed while the man was gazing blankly at my face.

‘I’d rather bite my tongue and commit suicide than be crushed by a guy. Seriously.’

While running, I looked around, but people were just staring at me and turning away.

No one stepped up to help.

I was running at full speed, but my breath was getting heavier, and my speed was slowing down.

“Haah… Hah… Haah…”

I was so exhausted I couldn’t run anymore, and I eventually had to stop.

“Haah… Hah…”

As I caught my breath, I scanned my surroundings for a stone to throw, but

all I could grab was that guy’s disgusting hand.

Just being grabbed sent shivers down my spine.

It felt like the man’s pride inside me was screaming out.

“Are you really going to get eaten by a scumbag who has also been discharged from the special forces?”

“Are you going to helplessly whine and cry like a non-man?”

“Grow some backbone!”

I’d rather fight to the death. Whether I poke his eyes or do something nasty, there would still be possibilities.

As I steeled my resolve, I felt a sudden warmth radiating from my body.

Maybe my emotions were ramping up, but I shouted and hurled a fist at the man.

“This fucking creep is giving me the chills!!”

The man saw my punch but didn’t even think to dodge; instead, he just smirked.

‘Yeah, it probably won’t hurt much. Brace yourself; next is your turn.’

But that wouldn’t be the case.

Crack!

“…..Huh..?”

What I saw was my fist stained with blood and the body of a headless person.

‘What the…? What just happened…?’

Thud!

Turning my head, I spotted the head of the corpse lying far away.

“Woooaah…”

I felt like my body was going to revolt.

“Ughhh!”

Murder. The death of a person. I had definitely never experienced anything like that.

I’d never seen a corpse so gruesome either.

As my body rejected it, I collapsed to the ground and started to puke.

But as if there wasn’t time for me to regain my composure.

“AAAHHHH!!!”

“AHHHH! It’s a monster… a monster!!”

“What the hell! They said this place was safe!!”

The people around me started screaming and fleeing.

You bastards. You didn’t even look at me when I was being chased.

Now you all run away like there’s a terrorist attack.

‘..Ugh…. I need to get away for now…’

I covered my mouth with my hand and dashed out of the street.

.
.
.

The place I returned to was the alley where I had been possessed.

I washed the blood off my hand in the water pooled on the ground and leaned against the wall.

About half an hour must have passed.

As time flowed, my speed and mind seemed to calm down a bit.

I inhaled deeply and thought calmly.

That guy tried to rape me. He deserved to die.

After all, killing a person is something I believed I would eventually have to do one day.

‘I was just surprised to see a corpse.’

I didn’t feel any guilt about murder.

In this place, such feelings were a luxury.

These days, kind-hearted people don’t even show up in novels.

Even Robin, the righteous protagonist, has no hesitation in killing ‘evil’ people.

As the memory of murder faded away, I clenched my white fist.

‘What was that power?’

It was definitely not the kind of force a woman this delicate could produce.

‘There are no signs of having learned magic separately…’

‘Could it be a unique ability?’

Unique ability.

In the world of the Indomitable Hero, mana exists.

Each individual can convert their mana into magical power and use various skills, including bolstering their bodies or imbuing their weapons.

However, it is only possible if one can sense the mana around them and has learned the technique to convert mana into magical power.

Therefore, the academy in the novel selected people who could sense the surrounding mana and taught them to convert mana into magical power.

Naturally, I had never learned such knowledge, nor could I sense the mana around me.

‘I don’t even know what this body is, let alone mana.’

Yet even without sensing mana, and without the skill to convert it, I could exert a powerful force.

The so-called ‘unique ability.’

An innate talent inscribed on my body since birth.

If it’s a unique ability, I could wield strength like someone using magical power without mana.

But unique abilities were possessed by a very small number of people.

From what I remember, there were only about five characters with a unique ability in roughly 200 chapters of the novel.

The indomitable protagonist Robin.

The saintess Iris with healing magic.

Queen Helia, the elf with the eyes of insight.

And the crown prince of the Karaz Empire and the Demon King, at most.

‘Oh, and Athena probably has a unique ability too.’

I guess I should revise that to six.

Although there’s no concrete narrative about Athena yet, her overwhelming strength surely implies a unique ability.

Of course, since the story mainly focuses on the academy, there are more academy characters appearing than outside characters,

And since it’s an ongoing novel, more people with unique abilities exist than the officially stated five.

Even so, those with unique abilities are still very rare.

‘Perhaps that’s why those with unique abilities were mostly extraordinary individuals.’

Unique abilities can be identified if you go to a temple and get assessed by a priest.

If I go to the temple, I could find out if I have a unique ability,

And what it is, too.

But I’m not going.

Why, you ask?

If I get identified as having a unique ability, it would cause a big commotion.

The empire doesn’t easily leave unique ability holders alone.

If you are an adult, they’ll either assign you a position or enlist you in the military to work for the nation,

And if you aren’t an adult, they’ll enroll you in the academy to nurture you as a talent for the nation.

Once you get into the academy, you might end up getting involved with the protagonist.

I have no intention of being entangled with the protagonist at all.

The butterfly effect. Everyone’s heard of it at least once.

I’ve seen countless stories where a trivial action by a possessor leads to uncontrollable changes.

To avoid such occurrences, my goal is to stay far away and not cross paths.

‘I’ll live quietly until I can return and see the happy ending the protagonist creates.’

‘Plus, if it’s a happy ending, even if I can’t return, I can manage just fine here.’

I know quite a bit about the contents of this novel up until a very distant point. When the ending arrives, that knowledge will become past events,

But I can use it to at least set myself up.

Yes, I’ve digressed, but what’s important now is that I seem to have a unique ability.

If I can only handle my unique ability, I could live well even without the original story’s knowledge.

To do that, I need to figure out what my unique ability is and how to use it.

‘Surely a novel maniac like me wouldn’t miss something so obvious?’

In fact, I’ve already concluded about my ability.

Since it was strong enough to crush a person’s head, it probably has to do with my physical capabilities.

‘Super strength, huh. Not bad, maybe?’

A character among the protagonist’s companions from the north was known to sweep through enemies with brute force, right?

‘Phew… Alright.’

I glanced around to make sure no one was around.

I stood up, loosened my wrist, and took a deep breath. Then, recalling the previous incident, I punched the wall with all my might.

Thwack!

“Huh?”

“AHHHH!!!!”

It seems the thing that broke wasn’t the wall, but my fist.

Unbearable pain shot through my hand, and tears began to flow.

“Ah… It hurts!!..!!!.. Ugh…”

I collapsed to the ground, cradling my fist.

.
.
.
.
.
“Boss, a subordinate’s corpse was found in the street.”

In front of the woman, a muscular man was seated in a chair.

“Did you identify who it is?”

“It was hard to recognize the figure, but based on the remaining personnel, we suspect it’s Rick.”

“Rick? That punk got done in?”

“Yes. His head was torn off, and it appears he was taken out with one strike.”

“Haha… I knew that brat would get a smackdown one of these days when he just ran his mouth…”

The woman remained silent, waiting for the muscular man to give orders.

“Still, that guy isn’t someone who would go down with just one hit. It might be a capable fighter sent from another region. Investigate further.”

The man waved his hand, seemingly annoyed, indicating for the woman to withdraw.

“Yes, boss.”

As the woman quietly disappeared, the man muttered.

“A challenge to me, huh… Haha…”

BAM!

“It seems the King of the West looked down on me.”

As the man slammed his fist down on the armrest of the chair, a huge crack formed on the floor along with it.

.
.
.
.
.
Thud thud!

“AHHH!!!! Why can’t it be like before!!”

‘This isn’t right?’
