Chapter 47

Chapter 47 – Demon King Girl (7)

“Foolish.”

“Wow, are you thinking the same as me?”

“Kuh, to a true predator, the laws of mere creatures are of no importance.”

Mamute and I surprisingly aligned in thought.

No one in this land can control me. That’s not just my problem.

Ignoring the chattering of those who were babbling like mad, I continued my fight with Mamute.

It wasn’t for nothing that this powerful monster was a huge topic of discussion. Besides, the great Demon King was currently trapped in the body of a Magical Girl, which was at most SSS class.

As it had been so far, overwhelming strength could not be used to crush my opponent in one blow.

“Khaha!”

Mamute’s tentacles, seemingly harder than any divine sword, extended over dozens of meters, swinging like whips and literally tearing apart a building they hit.

Now transformed completely into an octopus-like form, it looked confident in its tentacle play.

Then, the original tentacle creature couldn’t lose. I sent out more than a hundred tentacles, not only wielding my steel spiked whip but also transforming my shadow.

I can confidently say I had never drawn this much power since becoming a Magical Girl.

“Excellent movement.”

“Thanks for the compliment. You should do a tentacle too.”

It blocked my attacks to the point of being harmed.

As my fighting instinct surged, I started to feel gradually more excited. Who would have thought I could feel this way on Earth?

“Pierce and die!”

Mamute’s roaring tentacle lunged at me, piercing through my shadows. This was no bluff; it truly had the power to pierce my body.

Being on the tentacle end of things wasn’t my preference, so I dodged back to escape the attack.

Perhaps feeling insulted by my evasion, it writhed and opened its huge mouth wide, unleashing a beam of concentrated energy at me.

There was no dodging this. I hurriedly channeled my power to defend against the attack.

“Are you okay!?”

“Shut up.”

In the thick dust, I grabbed Ren’s head and threw it aside.

The place where I crashed was on a building whose roof had been partially destroyed, exposing the sky. I clicked my tongue and stood up from this dusty pit. My body ached from the impact. Mamute’s strength was indeed enough to inflict damage on this body.

“I knew it would be fun.”

I certainly didn’t think I would lose. It was just a matter of time. I had barely caught its tail, and I had no intention of letting it go.

“This is…”

“Shall we give it a proper try now?”

With a cracking sound, I twisted my body and moved my shadows. A space uniquely mine, where none could dare intrude.

The shadows, which had spread wide, began to rise to the sky, gradually enveloping the entire area. Once it formed a dome-like shape that covered even the sky, we were completely isolated from the outside.

“A marvelous trick.”

“I need to set up this kind of equipment so that no one suspects anything.”

With a grin, my eyes gleamed. Right now, here, should I not be able to unleash a bit of the Demon King’s power?

“Shall I show you what a real monster looks like, rookie?”

Though it was the frail body of a girl made from Yggdrasil’s power, I could still push it to its limits and twist it.

Now, the power that had been suppressed in the form of clothes and decorations erupted fully. It was a force that could not be contained within a normal human body.

Large horns grew on top of my head, and massive wings, covered in a black membrane, ripped through my back.

So much magical energy was pouring out that a separate space was needed to contain it.

“…What are you?”

“I’m not a Magical Girl. Then shall we call it a Demon King Girl?”

Gathering the power that shook the ground, I began to whip it up into a storm.

Mamute, looking up at me, swung its tentacles in resistance, but it was like cutting through water with a knife. It would be swept away by this force and torn to shreds.

“How dare…!!”

“What’s that? Is that all your last words?”

The swirling power formed into a vortex and crashed down on Mamute. The dense magical energy transformed into countless sharp blades and inflicted wounds even on its tough body, eventually drawing blood.

The vortex gradually became darker with its blood.

And when the vortex finally faded, I released my power and looked down at the now emptied ground. For all the fun we had, it was a pitiful exit.

“I, it can’t be… To think I truly defeated Mamute alone… This is insane!”

“Can’t you trust your own eyes?”

Within the shadow dome that I still maintained, I snapped off the horn growing from my head with a cracking sound.

These magical energy horns shattered with a hissing sound, turning to dust before returning to my body.

“But this is impossible. Mamute is a calamity of SS class!”

“There’s even a level above that.”

“SSS? An SSS class Magical Girl is half a myth. It possesses potential and power that one cannot even handle, and if it breaks, it’s a time bomb. So they almost all seal their memories and live as ordinary people.”

“Really? Do I look like that to you?”

Hearing Ren’s response, I chuckled, and it flinched, turning stiff.

“No.”

“Then what’s the problem? And, frankly, the various circumstances surrounding this incident are somewhat bizarre. I absolutely don’t plan on getting involved in these annoying matters any further. Are stronger foes going to keep coming due to clichés? I’m still not stepping out.”

“…Then, it appears we have the strongest SSS class ever born in history.”

As the shadow dome began to crumble, Ren clicked his tongue and shook his head. All eyes were focused on me already, but now they appeared even more startled with disbelief that I stood alone.

“Ha. Let’s return.”

I was relieved that there was no annoying babble. Adjusting my cap, I soared up into the sky.

“Hey, there’s gonna be a tremendous backlash!”

“Really? But that’s been the case since the moment I first appeared.”

I laughed at Ren’s comment. After all, I had somewhat already decided to endure the aftermath. Because I could always change back.

“Once again, the world has been turned upside down.”

It was early evening. Kim Soo-jung, who was picking at her food next to me, muttered while watching the news.

Currently, the breaking news that had been going on for several hours since this morning was still repeating the same story.

It was about how I dealt with Mamute all alone yesterday.

“They say you’re truly SSS class.”

“Didn’t I have that reputation already?”

“No, this time it’s a bit different.”

I subtly opened my mouth, wanting to change the subject, but she shook her head.

“What’s different?”

“It’s not that I think so; it’s that people believe so. The Magical Girl, who had been somewhat compromising with the local order, has now not only deviated from it but has rendered it meaningless.”

Kim Soo-jung spoke with a serious face. As I listened more, the conclusion was that I had expanded my activities beyond Korea.

There had been an unwritten rule among Magical Girls that they did not operate outside their native land.

The minimal order that had breathed some semblance of agreement with ordinary people was completely shattered by me.

After all, no ruler wouldn’t like a powerful being rampaging through their territory. People would dislike a superhuman, like a Magical Girl, breaking the order and laws they enjoyed.

“Looking at this, the countries around the world, centered on the UN, might impose heavy regulations. This is a being so uniquely strong that it may not even be possible to apply common sense.”

“How grand of them.”

I let out a scoff. What could those wretches do? Having belonged to both sides, I can firmly say they would never stop me.

“I actually think it’s good. Not everyone hates it, right? After all, in the end, I did catch that terrible monster.”

At that moment, Kim Soo-jung subtly glanced at me and cautiously spoke up. The meaning in her gaze was clear; she was asking if I, Takilas, was really fine with myself.

“I like me.”

“Y-You really think so?”

She seemed relieved and smiled upon hearing my answer. After all, how could I say I didn’t like who I am?

In truth, matters like that weren’t particularly important to me right now.

“I told you, didn’t I? Once this is over, I’m taking a vacation.”

“I heard that, but what on earth do you mean? Does that mean you’ll take a break? Where can you go as your true self right now?”

“I can figure that part out on my own.”

While changing my clothes to head to school, I took my chance when Kim Soo-jung left and notified Ren. Ren seemed flustered, but my decision was already firm.

Of course, I wasn’t planning to run away from this facility.

I opened a dimensional door. It was the magic I learned from the fairies. Ignoring Ren, who gaped with his mouth open, I called someone from that place.

“I have been summoned urgently, my Demon King… UAAAAAGH!! A human!!!”

“Stop your nonsense and shut up. Can’t you hear the noise outside?”

I stepped on the terrified being that was screaming.

It was a bizarre creature that seemed made of slimy mucus. Eyes, ears, and a mouth were floating grotesquely in the slime.

“Ooh… This power, surely, it’s the Demon King who has gone out. But what on earth is that grotesque form?”

“Don’t touch me. I have a task for you, Commander Plesea. Transform into my likeness right now.”

I withdrew my foot from the slimy touch that was trying to feel me up. The slime squirmed and began to rise, forming a shape.

“I’ve complied with your command for now.”

Before long, another me appeared in front of me. Commander Plesea was a doppelgänger. A being that could take any form.

It was sniffing and awkwardly touching its body, shivering as though it felt strange. It felt odd to see someone doing that, mimicking my own body.
