Chapter 42

Episode 42 – Demon King Girl (2)

Fear. Overwhelming fear is the true drug and confession elixir. That’s why I loved fear. It was an essential emotion for me, both before becoming the Demon King and after.

At least, that’s what I believed. Right now, there was no need to bring up the fearsome beings from the Demon Realm.

If one is weak-hearted, they would fall into an extreme panic just from the magic I emanate. Especially if someone who had the audacity to mess around without knowing the situation ends up as a headless chunk of meat rolling under them.

“Ugh, Aaaah!”

The nameless trash’s aides, who were proudly puffing out their chests, ran away without even looking back when their superior was beheaded. I didn’t bother to chase them. It was too much of a hassle.

Instead, I turned my attention to the other fools who were frozen in place and unable to flee.

“Park Ah-jun, Jeon Eui-seong. Are you two from the broadcasting station?”

“W-why are you doing this? We haven’t done anything to you!”

As I wiggled my fingers at the two trembling individuals sitting on the ground, Chief Park Ah-jun screamed with a voice trembling like crazy.

“Ahaha.”

As soon as I heard that desperate voice, I couldn’t help but genuinely laugh. Why don’t these people, no, why doesn’t humanity get it?

“What a foolish question. I am a Magical Girl. And you two are evil villains with black hearts. So, what reason do I need other than to eliminate you?”

“Stop spouting nonsense! This country is a nation under the law! You must adhere to the law and order!!”

With my killing intent increasing, Park Ah-jun’s voice grew louder in proportion to the fear tightening around him.

Having seen countless cases, I know that empty barrels make the most noise. Just witnessing his loud shouting showed how terrified he really was.

“Well, let me be kind and give you one more reason. You might understand why you both have to be taken care of.”

“R-reason? Understand?!”

“You have caused me harm. I was already in a foul mood, and you confidently provoked me by blabbering nonsense and asking to be killed.”

I pointed out the obvious and clear truth to the two panicking fools. Naturally, they seemed dazed as their eyes blinked rapidly.

“Can’t grasp the reason?”

“Y-yeah. We’ve never targeted a Magical Girl broadcast! You… you’re saying that just because our news reports covered the incidents you’ve caused?! But that’s something the press has to do…”

“Well, I’m confused whether you’re just plain stupid or really evil to not even catch on.”

Park Ah-jun’s rambling words only disappointed me. Honestly, I had expected it, but still, I held out hope that maybe they had some kind of grand belief or mission.

“It wasn’t some grand belief or mission. You’ve just been doing what you always do. Fake news, incitement, slander, division… you’ve always been those kinds of people.”

“W-what does that even mean…”

“The recent reports about biological experiments by international crime organizations. You wouldn’t have forgotten, right?”

I simply stated the answer. I wanted to see what they would say. It was a kind of whim. It was quite entertaining to see their faces change color in shock.

“What does that have to do with you… you were the one who participated in cleaning up that horrific scene, right?!”

“Are you just babbling nonsense out of sheer instinct? Are you actually that ignorant? This is your last chance. Speak wisely.”

As I narrowed my eyes and increased my aura a little, Park Ah-jun flinched and shut his mouth tightly.

“…I’ll admit the reports were a bit rushed. But!”

“Rushed? Is that it? Even after seeing a cyber wreck headless, you still claim you know nothing?!”

“…I admit it was inaccurate! But we can correct it…!”

“Correct? It seems like you’re missing something major.”

I scoffed. I wasn’t doing this for no reason. They had the audacity to harm me.

In the Demon Realm, if you harm someone, it’s common sense to reciprocate with harm. Now, I was the Demon King, not an Earthling, so of course, I would adhere to the Demon Realm’s common sense.

“But what about an apology? For all the damaged parties, including me, because of your disgusting incitement and fake news?”

Of course, in the Demon Realm, it’s more important to obtain recognition and true submission from the opponent than to cause harm. In Earth’s case, that’s replaced with an apology.

“Huh… huh…”

“What’s so ridiculous? Why is it so hard to apologize?”

However, Park Ah-jun’s reaction, which I expected to be wailing and begging for his life, was contrary.

Although he must have been out of his mind with extreme fear, he stubbornly held his ground, sweating coldly.

“Does apologizing mean losing? Does it mean death?”

“Of course!”

In the end, he lost the sanity he was barely holding onto.

“You foolish brat! Apologizing? Apologizing?!! In this society, that’s harmful. The moment you apologize, you admit your fault. Do you think the crazy livestock of this era would give any meaning to an apology?! Apologies aren’t a plea for pardon anymore. It’s a stigma! It’s branding yourself! They can tear me apart and kill me!”

Completely in a state of panic, he spewed words like a rapid-fire cannon. I listened to him with interest. His unfiltered, 100% pure thoughts poured out in a continuous rampage.

“And why should I bow my head to some faceless herd of livestock?! Huh? I’m giving my generosity to these plebeians of average Rank 5 by sharing knowledge and news, yet they dare… They should know their place, bumping up against me! Those worthless people!”

He poured out his innermost thoughts. It wasn’t really surprising. I figured he’d be the type to have a sense of superiority and a survival-of-the-fittest mentality.

“S- Senior…”

Even the PD beside him, Jeon Eui-seong, trembled as he tried to intervene.

“Ugh?!”

“I understand your thoughts. I myself deeply agree with the survival-of-the-fittest concept. So you will conform to it, right? In front of a true strong one, a small fry like you can be crushed like leaves.”

“Ugh, ughhh!”

I moved my shadows and grabbed his tongue. As the horrified man flailed, could he grasp at shadows with his hands?

“Did you think you were strong just because those idiots beside you held you up? Did you think those carcasses lying around are strong? How ridiculous.”

“Gughh… Uurrrk!!”

Blood flowed, and the man’s screams grew louder as bits of his tongue started to tear out. I held on tighter. I wouldn’t let it break in the middle; I’d pull it all out.

Amidst the blood tears and struggles, his tongue was jutting out more than half of his mouth.

“The true apex of the survival of the fittest is me, not worthless beings like you.”

“Ku-OORRRAHH….”

With a horrific sound, a muscular chunk was pulled out like a fountain of blood.

His severed tongue thudded into the puddle of blood. Just after, Park Ah-jun went limp, breathless.

“Graaaah!”

“So, it’s your turn now?”

I turned my body towards PD Jeon Eui-seong. Though he might be the more normal one, he hurriedly prostrated himself in the dirt, begging for his life.

“Please… please spare me.. I’ll do anything. My young children and wife are waiting for me at home. I will repay my sins, please…”

He started to cry, showing me the background of his phone. But my heart wasn’t swayed.

“Family. What a nice excuse.”

“Y-yes?”

“Don’t worry. Of course, I wouldn’t harm pure children. So if they come looking for me to seek revenge for their father, I’ll be more than happy to treat them with the respect due to challengers.”

I had no intention of sparing him. The head of a family? With his rabbit-like children? What did he expect me to do? Was he planning to sacrifice his children so that I could spare him?

“A-ahhh!”

In despair, he staggered and tried to flee. I shot out the blades of my shadows. The blades that sliced through his body would have shattered this room.

“…”

The family photo displayed on the fallen phone screen became soaked in blood.

“Humans will condemn your actions.”

“I didn’t come here to live considering those things.”

I scoffed at Ren’s heavy comment and kicked at him.

“Let’s go. There’s still more left.”

“Y-you’re not going to kill anyone else, are you?!”

“I’m going to kill everyone related to the broadcasting station. I’ll kill whoever is responsible for permitting the broadcasting. What’s the problem, Ren? They are villains, and I’m just accumulating results as per the regulations set by your Fairy Company.”

Beliefs? Missions? To be honest, I had none of that. I had no intention of wrapping it up or belittling it.

The ecosystem of survival of the fittest that Park Ah-jun was shouting about – I was just following that logic too.

“Graaaaah! Open the door! Open!”

“Spare me, please!”

I activated the massive dome I had already created. This dome, which I had installed in advance, triggered the moment I entered, isolating the entire broadcasting station from the outside.

All that was left was to find my targets amid the panicked crowd.
