Chapter 183 – Magical Girls in the Sky (3)
Trials, they are essential for growth and evolution. That’s why Razak embraces them.
The more they fight, the stronger they become. The tougher the opponent, the more efficient it is. Razak has endured the ongoing battle with this belief. He believed all of this would be nourishment for his future.
“This, this isn’t right… why do I keep facing this!!!”
But there’s a limit to everything. It’s true that he boldly declared war on the world and proudly achieved results right afterward, but he has already faced strong setbacks multiple times.
Then there’s Takilas and Ashburn, who seem to pop up whenever they gain a slight upper hand, bringing more annoyance than joy as they give him yet another blow.
‘What even is that guy?! Wings… could it be that armored girl!’
Through the legion soldier’s eyes, Razak looked at the sky at the scene. As soon as he realized this, he fell into confusion. This being was clearly different from ordinary magical girls. His elite special troops had evolved to the point where they could easily take on S-rank magical girls, but the presence in the sky was certainly something else.
A brilliant light cutting through the dark clouds.
And three beautiful pairs of white wings flickering slightly. The intense energy radiating from it was already classified as Holy Power in Razak’s data.
[I was going to head right over… but is this really the right thing to do? To show mercy to the wretched and pitiful citizens of this land is my duty.]
The vibrant and clear green eyes twisted.
Not only Razak but everyone on the scene focused their attention on that being. It wasn’t just mere power; the ‘level’ itself was different.
The presence with the light green short hair fully revealed itself in the sky and smiled gently while looking down at the people on the ground.
[Disappear, you unidentified insects.]
“Uaaah… nooooo!!!”
As a small white finger pointed, a surge of accumulated massive magical power unleashed hundreds of green lightning strikes down to the earth. The targets were Razak’s special troops that were pushing back the magical girls.
Razak let out a scream akin to a roar as the connection was rapidly severed.
The barrier that had withstood the powers of high-ranked magical girls shattered instantly, and the special troops were obliterated by a heavenly lightning bolt that burned their very souls.
Immunity to Holy Power meant nothing. It was powerful enough to crush and suffocate them.
‘Where did such a magical girl come from?!’
Even the first-generation SS-rank magical girl Jeanne, who was nearby, widened her eyes in shock.
She had only felt this overwhelming pressure once before, at a party hosted by the fairies when a drunken Takilas caused a ruckus.
The destructive and overwhelming atmosphere that seemed insurmountable back then could also be sensed from the rookie magical girl descending to earth now.
[Were they just dolls? The main body seems to be hiding.]
Finally, the shoe-clad foot touched the ground. To be precise, it landed on the wreckage of a broken self-propelled artillery shell.
Everyone’s eyes were glued to the corpses of the fallen legion soldiers sprawled on the ground.
‘Is… is that a girl?’
Jeanne, who was at the front, was slightly taken aback.
She hadn’t noticed from far away, but up close, there was a sense of strangeness. Outwardly, she looked like a boyish girl with short hair, but there was a strange quality mixed within her beauty.
“A-are you a magical girl?!”
“Well, you do appear to be…”
A commander of the allied forces dashed over, brushing aside Jeanne’s subordinates. However, even he couldn’t muster the courage to step forward upon seeing the enigmatic magical girl.
Realizing she had no choice but to step up, Jeanne took a deep breath and moved forward first.
“Thank you for saving us. You may not know me, but I am Jeanne, the magical girl of France. Who are you?”
With all eyes on her, Jeanne spoke as politely as possible.
[It’s truly fascinating. Everything feels new, exhilarating, and intriguing. A mere human dares to look me in the eye and speaks without hesitation.]
“Uuh…”
[But… I like it even more. The very gaze is enjoyable. Here, I am a completely different being. So, Jeanne of France. Do you wish to know who I am?]
The beautiful corners of her mouth, tightly sealed until now, slightly rose. With the appearance of someone who looks like a teenager, it gave off a somewhat playful smile.
[I was told in your mythology that I am to fulfill the role of a warrior who fights against devils. That is why I took on that name. The one who judges evil and fights against it. My name is Sandalphon.]
“Uh… umm…”
And then she introduced herself without hesitation. As if it were the most natural thing. Thanks to the overwhelming display just before and the intense aura she emanated, Jeanne almost blurted out that it sounded like a classic case of a ‘second-hand syndrome.’
[Was that an answer?]
“The one who fights against evil… so in the end, you are a magical girl, right?”
[It feels awkward to be called a ‘girl’ so often.]
Sandalphon, rising up from the barrel, floated in the air, crossing her legs and furrowing her brow while wearing black shorts.
[That massive tree said it would give me a transformation body, meaning a human form. But it insisted I must become female, and when I strongly refused, it ended up creating a similar male appearance instead…]
“You recall your encounter with Yggdrasil, don’t you?!”
[Ah, was that a secret?]
Sandalphon smirked at Jeanne’s astonished reaction. At the very least, people instinctively sensed that Sandalphon was unlike any other magical girl.
Some among them even recognized a case similar to Sandalphon’s.
An existence that had appeared abruptly as an irregularity. Breaking common sense, she herself had become the new order, the strongest and worst magical girl.
“Do you have any relation to Takilas?”
Jeanne inadvertently blurted it out.
*
“I-I rushed here this quickly!”
“It’s already too late. I don’t want to let those guys into this country if possible.”
At the moment Sandalphon revealed herself on the battlefield of the allied forces.
Meanwhile, Takilas, who was also flying towards the sky at maximum speed with a startled Ren clinging to his shoulder, was just about to leave Seoul.
Sensing the intense Holy Power erupting, he charged out of the facility.
“Of course… it’s late.”
However, just before leaving Incheon, Takilas clenched his teeth, gazing beyond the sky. Two streaks of meteor raced through the clouds, approaching this place at breakneck speed.
“Uuh… uuh?!”
“Hold on tight.”
Seeing the incoming streaks, Ren was aghast. Meanwhile, Takilas halted his flight, gathering strength right where he was.
‘An angel.’
“The Demon King!!!”
A tremendous roar and collision. Embracing Ren, Takilas was engulfed in an overwhelming shockwave that vaporized the surrounding clouds, plunging down toward the earth at high speed.
Surrounded by bursting magical power, they pierced through a building and crashed to the ground.
They created a massive sinkhole as they broke through the asphalt, digging down to the underground path below and even penetrating through to the subway tracks deeper underground before finally coming to a stop.
Screams of fleeing people and thick smoke filled the air. Sunlight filtered down through the sinkhole they’d created, reaching deep underground.
“Ah, no!”
Ren, still in Takilas’ arms, screamed in panic.
The golden-haired woman, Uriel, who had fallen alongside them after the collision, had grabbed Takilas by the hair and pointed a flaming golden fist at his face.
[I never imagined this day would come. I am so happy. Nice to meet you… Demon King.]
A magical girl who looked quite similar in age to Takilas, her pink hair flying behind her, grinned mischievously from behind Uriel, who was holding onto Takilas’ hair.
“So. What’s your name? War-mad pigeon. Let’s skip the pleasantries.”
[…]
A shadow burst forth from her arm and a shockwave erupted. The smirking girl was sent flying against the wall, crashing deeply as she gazed at Uriel with a rigid expression.
Uriel, seemingly unphased by a scratch, quickly crawled out from the wall, and Takilas was already standing up, smiling.
[I won’t tell you my true name, but the name I’ve chosen for this form, prepared to catch you, is already chosen. Michael. The warrior of Heaven who fights against evil, Michael.]
“That sounds like a cringey second-hand syndrome.”
She confidently announced her name as if it was perfectly normal, and Takilas was left chuckling at the two magical girls standing before him.
Two low-ranking angels and one high-ranking angel. Looks like I’ll have to bring at least thirty legion commanders.
Of course, the tension at the scene didn’t dissipate in the slightest. As the thick smoke slowly settled and one courageous worker cautiously approached the area…
Uriel was the first to settle the powers.
[Michael, it would be best if we move.]
[Why should we be considerate of these humans?]
[But we…]
“Just follow my lead. Obviously, you’re not ready yet.”
Seeing Michael’s displeased response to Uriel’s suggestion, Takilas couldn’t help but let out a small laugh as he flew up through the hole to the sky first.
[Are you fleeing, Takilas?!]
“Damn it. Why did that idiot have to show up now?”
Michael and Uriel chased after him. Takilas could only sigh at the sight.
