Chapter 181

Episode 181 – Magical Girls in the Sky (1)

“So, you mean the angels want to come down in person and fight me ‘directly’? As Magical Girls?!”

“I-I heard that too. But that’s not all.”

Shia simply relayed what she had heard. She tried to understand, but eventually gave up.

“So we’re also forbidden from fighting to the death? What on earth…”

“Lady Asmael said this is a condition set for the Demon King, you. Without these restrictions, you wouldn’t stand a chance.”

Asmael instructed Shia to convey the strict rules that must be followed. One of them was to refrain from any direct confrontations.

For the first time, Takilas found herself unable to argue against such conditions.

Even in a restricted state, the opposing forces would clearly be overwhelming Magical Girls of SSS rank or higher. There was no way she could win a 3-to-1 fight against such foes.

‘Well, accepting this is beneficial.’

Yet, despite knowing that, Takilas had no choice but to agree to the proposal. If this could avert a great war that would decide the fate of a world, and if it meant protecting everything she cared about, there was no reason to refuse.

“Tell Asmael I’m accepting the proposal. You all seem to be under a misconception, don’t you? Shia, you know that just having strong powers isn’t what makes a Magical Girl, right? If those guys start acting up here like they did in Heaven, they’ll be disqualified as Magical Girls.”

“That’s…”

“I can finally knock down those arrogant noses that have been hiding out in the Sky Palace.”

Ignoring Shia’s speechless reaction, Takilas let out a smirk.

But it was true that another war was beginning right here and now. Takilas had received a brief grace period before the angels arrived on Earth—a chance to prepare.

[…Elysia. Inform the fairies as well. Just like you, new Magical Girls will be going there.]

“Yes, Lady Asmael.”

Shia swallowed hard while watching Takilas’s retreating figure.

It was unprecedented for angels to descend to Earth not through prophecy or divine scripture, but in person. Even Shia, who had once served as a Saint, couldn’t dare to predict how things would unfold.

“Yes, this is the Magical Girl agency, Rana Land…”

On an ordinary afternoon, Rana, sitting in her office, answered the phone nonchalantly. It was likely a call from their mascot, but due to multiple recent hearings, it could be someone else.

“Boss! It’s Tigger.”

“What’s going on?”

Fortunately, it was indeed Tigger from the agency. However, the sound of his oddly timid voice, coupled with the identity of the entity he was in charge of, caused Rana to suddenly feel unease, making her straighten her back.

“I think we’re in deep trouble.”

“Well, that’s been the case for a while.”

Just as expected, Tigger’s opening line made her eyes go wide. But it was fine. The countless hardships she had endured so far had equipped her with the resilience to handle situations like this.

“What happened? Did Shia mess up again?”

“To be precise, it’s not me but you, Boss, who’s in trouble.”

“…Me?”

Yet, the atmosphere felt tense. Drawing on her past experiences, Rana instinctively broke out in a cold sweat and jumped to her feet.

Others might think she was overreacting, but after truly enduring tough times, she clutched her cramping stomach who was showing signs of light PTSD.

“Tell me in detail. What on earth is going on?!”

“I don’t even know how to describe it… Shia has already informed Takilas. It seems that something from ‘that world’ will ‘come over’ again.”

“Ugh, Aaaaah! Yggdrasil!!”

As Rana probed deeper, she could hear Tigger’s voice dwindling before the breaking point, causing her to frantically tug at her own hair.

‘…I’m so sorry.’

At the same time, at the entrance of the office, the head of sales, Yuria, who was about to step in, hung her head in despair upon hearing that scream.

“Be thoroughly prepared. We can’t predict what will happen.”

“If this story gets out to other companies, or worse, to the council, we might be trapped in trouble!”

Numerous fairies and mascots rushed around. The entire Rana Land was mobilized for what felt like a grand ‘welcome ceremony.’

Based on the testimonies from Tigger, Ren, Fluffy, and others who understood the angels, Rana judged them to be higher threats than even Takilas.

‘The fact that they’ve become Magical Girls means they have agreed to Yggdrasil’s stipulations. But I guarantee they’re infinitely more arrogant and unruly than me.’

Especially the warning from Takilas gnawed at Rana’s mind.

If there existed a being that was even more uncontrollable than the self-centered Takilas, it was something that warranted not just an individual company’s response but the entire fairy society.

However, starting with Takilas, all Magical Girls arriving from outside were now, by rule, part of Rana Land. Holding her bitten nails, Rana genuinely wanted to slap her past self for hastily renewing the contract with Takilas.

“Ugh… my stomach.”

The intense stress was now causing her stomach to twist uncomfortably. Regardless, thanks to their quick response, preparations were nearly complete.

Historically, there hadn’t been a case of a Magical Girl being treated with such grand hospitality by an agency.

“Boss, we’ve finished all preparations.”

“The appointment time is soon.”

Adjusting her glasses, Rana hesitated to glance up at the sky. The warm sunlight, the high sky, and the picturesque clouds—it was always clear in the Fairy World.

“B-Boss. Is that…?”

At that moment, a mascot pointed toward the sky with its chubby hand.

Rana and everyone else on the scene immediately focused their gazes on the clouds up high.

“There is something… but it’s hard to see. Why is it up there?”

“I’ll use amplification magic. If those Magical Girls you spoke of are indeed there, I’ll bring them down.”

An enthusiastic male fairy stepped up to cast the magic, aiming to reveal whoever was hiding amongst the clouds through a visibility-enhancing spell.

“I see… AAAAAAAAH! My eyes!”

However, as he attempted to peek through the clouds, a brilliant flash suddenly blinded him, and he clutched at his eyes, rolling on the ground.

“Oh, they’re coming!”

But no one around him could spare him a glance.

As a strong gust swept through, the clouds scattered, revealing three Magical Girls who had been hiding in the heavens.

‘Those are… angels! Rulers of the sky, equivalent to the Demon King of the Demon Realm!’

Rana’s eyes widened in horror as she looked up, trembling. The first thing she noticed was the three magnificent, soaring white wings.

Contrary to Takilas, who concealed nothing, the overwhelming might and grandeur pressed down on both fairies and mascots alike.

[It seems you have made some preparations upon hearing of our arrival. I hear it is your duty to assist the Magical Girls.]

[Then that means we are your subordinates, correct?]

[Go, and inform them that members of Heaven have arrived.]

Radiant green, brilliant gold, and fiery crimson eyes shone down on Rana, casting shadows upon their faces.

“Boss!”

“Stay calm. They are not enemies!”

With the overwhelming power that overshadowed the ground even from the high sky, Rana gritted her teeth and reassured her staff. Repeating it to herself like a mantra, they were Magical Girls, not foes.

‘Or are they?!’

Even amid that imposing force, doubt gnawed at her heart.

But then, among the three Magical Girls, one of them slowly descended.

The most mature-looking woman among the angels came down with three pairs of wings and wore a graceful dress-like attire with her shoulders bare, cascading blonde hair flowing to her waist.

“Please introduce yourself. Who are you?!”

Rana was the first to step forward, opening her mouth. The woman landed softly on the ground, looking at Rana with a faint smile.

[I won’t divulge my true name. In the future, during my activities on Earth as a Magical Girl, I will be known as Uriel—Magical Girl Uriel.]

“That doesn’t sound like a name for a Magical Girl…”

[Your name is Rana, isn’t it?]

Uriel’s large eyes sparkled as she nodded. Though appearing kind and merciful, Rana suddenly felt a chill, realizing that Uriel was oddly only saying what she wanted to.

[I, of course, have to meet the two above me who are waiting. Now guide us to Earth, to where the Demon King… no, to where Magical Girl Takilas is.]

“But there are procedures!”

“I’ll show you immediately.”

Ignoring the clueless staff member who tried to interject, Rana kicked his shin and promptly opened a Dimension Gate.

Only then did the other two Magical Girls, who had been watching from above, begin to descend to their destination.
