Chapter 154

Chapter 154 – Evolving Justice (4)

“What the hell is going on? The communication’s cut off too!”

“Hey! Save me!”

The cries wouldn’t stop. It seemed like they never expected such a situation to happen.

“Damn it… what are you?!”

Just then, I locked eyes with one of the intruders who rushed in anxiously. He reflexively aimed his gun at me, glancing at the iron bars I had smashed through.

“Get back in! If you don’t want to die… aah!”

“Only your mouth is alive.”

I moved the shadows to wrap around him, squeezing tightly to crush him. Blood oozed out like juice from a crushed fruit, dripping from the wriggling black shadow.

“What are you gonna use that for?”

“I’ve got plans.”

I tossed aside the mangled corpse that had become a compressed hunk of flesh and picked up the revolver lying below. I had separated the entire space from reality with the sealing formation, but I felt pretty awkward at the moment.

For starters, I couldn’t transform. Park Tae-jun would catch on that I’m Takilas. But I also couldn’t just run around in my normal form. The victims would see me.

Of course, it was just a matter of how to kill them, so I wasn’t too worried. Whether I transformed or not, the end result would be the same.

“Let’s go, Ren.”

“…Crazy girl.”

Ren clicked her tongue at my plan, but now her sighs sounded like compliments to me.

“Hold your position! Stay… ugh.”

“What the! Aah!”

The deafening gunfire erupted. A few guys who were chatting in the hallway were shot and fell, splattering blood from the bullets I fired in succession from my revolver.

“Above!”

“Move!”

I could hear the sounds of guys moving in response to the gunfire coming from the walls, floor, and ceiling. Anyway, this seal was my world. I could see everything they were doing with my sharpened senses.

Until I let them out, they could never leave this place, and I had no intention of letting them live.

“This is pretty fun, huh?”

I fired bullets at the guys coming down the stairs, knocking them flat. Come to think of it, it was my first time shooting and killing someone. It felt refreshingly different, and oddly fun.

“Thinking I wouldn’t notice if you came from behind?”

“Ugh!”

I turned around and aimed the revolver at a guy approaching me from behind with a machete. He flinched back, staggering in shock.

“Huh, h-hahaha!”

But soon, he was grinning and his eyes were wild. I furrowed my brows, wondering if he’d lost his mind.

“You foolish little brat. A revolver holds six bullets. You just fired all six, so that thing’s an empty can now!”

Then he lunged at me again, probably feeling a little confident after thinking things through.

“Gah!”

“You think I only shoot bullets?”

However, a scream escaped his mouth as a bullet made of magic flew from the gun’s muzzle, splattering what remained of his head like a watermelon. The revolver’s cylinder had been empty for a while.

I had no intention of reloading or changing it; I just carried it around.

“This way. Others are trapped here.”

Ren shook her head in disbelief and guided the way. The slaughter was one thing, but my main goal was to rescue people.

“Gah!”

I burst into a room and shot the guy guarding it. He shot at me with the rifle he had in hand, but the bullet ricocheted off my eye and hit the wall.

“Phew! Ugh…”

“It’s me. So don’t worry.”

I picked up the rifle from the fallen guy and broke the lock, opening the cage door. I then removed the blindfold and peeled off the tape from Jin-ah’s mouth.

“Jin-ah…”

“I told you, you’re suffering for no reason.”

Park Tae-jun burst into tears the moment he saw me, his face streaked with tears. He probably hadn’t worried much while with me, but it seems he was quite scared since we parted ways.

“I’ll go handle the rest outside, so you all stay put. Tae-jun, you’ll guard here.”

“M-me?!”

“Don’t do anything and just play dead inside.”

Park Tae-jun was trapped with a few kids who looked to be around his age. They were a mix of locals and tourists, and I had no idea when they had been captured. They were all in a panic.

Let alone they didn’t even know who I was. They only seemed to watch me warily, afraid, as I brandished a large rifle with one hand.

“Nothing will happen.”

I smiled and handed Tae-jun the rifle, switched to safety. Even though I told him to guard, I had no intention of letting him fight. As soon as we stepped outside, I’d block the door so no one could enter or exit.

“Ah, got it.”

Of course, he didn’t know that; he hurriedly wiped his tears and took the rifle with a determined expression, even though he’d get bored of hearing gunfire in a few years anyway. But it was probably better for him to focus on something rather than tremble in fear.

“I’m off.”

Then I turned my back. There were still many victims to kill and prey to hunt.

“Wait a sec.”

Park Tae-jun grabbed my wrist. His eyes were shaking uncontrollably. Yet, unlike just before, the fear wasn’t what was making them tremble this time.

“Something to say?”

“This might be the last… it might really be the last.”

His voice was quivering, and he took on an air of gravity, as if he’d found courage in this extreme situation.

“Ugh.”

“Last? Absolutely not, so I’ll see you later.”

I gently pushed away his lips with my fingers, squeezing my eyes shut. Why do Kim Soo-jung and Park Tae-jun keep trying to kiss me?

“You’re making things hard for everyone.”

“Who? Me? Am I crazy?”

As I stepped outside and sealed the door tightly with my magic, I couldn’t help but chuckle at Ren’s words.

“That’s how kids are. They change when they grow up a bit.”

Park Tae-jun, who was never in my plans from the start, picked up a handgun from a corpse sprawled in the hallway again. This survival game was quite enjoyable, to be honest.

Of course, it was a rather unfair survival game where one side doesn’t get shot and doesn’t die even if hit.

“Where to next? Lead the way.”

“This way. If I remember correctly, one of the parents is trapped.”

I walked with Ren in front of me again. The thugs seemed to have caught on to what I was about, as they were holding their positions instead of acting recklessly.

“There it is. The adults are trapped there. Park Ha-young’s parents are in that room.”

“Is it the two guys in front?”

In front of the second room, two guys were ambushing, guarding the corridor. Just when I was thinking about how to deal with them, I looked at the handgun in my hand and grinned.

“Using magic bullets, I can recreate something I’ve only seen in movies.”

I openly walked toward them, showing myself. When the surprised guys aimed their guns at me from behind cover…

I spun the revolver in my hand and fired. The magic bullet defied the laws of physics and flew in a fantastic arc that bullets could never accomplish.

“Just like that!”

With one shot, two of them went down, their heads bursting apart with a sickening splat as they hit the ground. I couldn’t help but smile at the strange thrill it gave me.

*

“…What the hell is happening outside?”

“Shh. The gunfire has stopped at some point.”

In the storage room where the adults were held captive, two armed gang members were sweating profusely as they aimed their guns at the door.

“Ugh…”

‘The police. It has to be the police!’

The abducted victims could only watch anxiously. Among them were Kim Soo-jung’s friend and Park Ha-young’s father. Unable to eat properly, he’d been forced to separate from his wife and daughter, spending days in worry and anxiety.

In the midst of all this, a variable emerged. A variable frightening enough to make even the rough and intimidating local gang tremble in fear.

“Ugggh… help, help me! Please save me!”

That’s when one of the gang members’ screams echoed from outside. The eyes of the gang members guarding the door faltered. They couldn’t ignore their companion’s voice.

“I’ll go check it out.”

In the end, one of them slowly moved toward the door. He opened it carefully and poked his body outside.

But at that moment…

“This bastard… Aaaah!”

“Ugh!”

“Ugh!”

The gunfire rang out, and the gang members collapsed, bleeding. The last guy, who reflexively sprayed bullets in a fit of panic at his comrade’s death, was also shot in the forehead, collapsing with a blood splatter.

The captives were struck dumb by the sight of people dying in an instant, and they screamed with their mouths covered.

“Ugh?!”

But soon, hearing the squelching sound of someone stepping in the pool of blood and looking back inside, Park Ha-young’s father widened his eyes in shock.

The girl entering the room with a pistol in hand was someone he recognized all too well.

“Are you okay, Uncle?”

She appeared unscathed and smiled faintly as she looked at him.

“Step aside.”

“Ugh!”

She raised her gun and started shattering the locks on the cage one by one. Thanks to her, the freed people scrambled out, glancing at her warily while peeling off their restraints.

“You, you…”

“I got kidnapped and ended up here too. Just stay put. There are still many places left to clear out.”

With a slice, she ripped the tape off his mouth and interrupted any questions.
