Chapter 816

Ertarn’s Burden.

Ertarn could handle most things directly, but the fact they entrusted this to me meant there must be a good reason for it.

Without wasting any time, I headed to the location Ertarn mentioned and found about ten giants clustered in a specific ‘zone.’

It looked like some dozens of meteors had crashed, creating a giant crater.

“Hmm?”

Inside, there were large giants that looked about 30m tall, and they had a bit of power, with abilities on par with Intermediate Angels or Demons.

However, just because they had intermediate strength didn’t mean they could actually defeat others of the same tier.

They weren’t common but also not particularly special beings.

“I don’t think they’re much of a burden.”

[True lol]

[They are big though?]

[Whoa!]

[What are these, buildings?]

[Should I just smash them with a hammer?]

[Annihilation incoming lol]

[Not that tough?]

“Yeah. Their power… Miss Yena or Lord Leo could probably handle them.”

Winning against all of them might be tough, but taking on one or two should be doable.

With Ertarn’s abilities and powers, just a flick of the wrist would probably be enough to subdue them.

I still didn’t quite understand why they were referred to as a burden.

‘Is it because they don’t want to suppress them by force?’

Many questions popped up, but I guess I’ll find out once we talk.

“Something’s coming.”

“I see it. I saw it too.”

“Over there. The small one.”

As I approached the giants, they slowly moved towards me as well.

And then they reached out their hands.

“I’m grabbing you.”

“Huh?”

Whoosh!!

The gigantic hand reaching towards me felt like a massive hill coming at me, probably because it was a giant that stood 30m tall.

I hesitated for a moment before gently pushing the hand away and standing in front of them.

“!!!”

“I, I’m stuck!”

“Why aren’t you grabbing? What’s going on?”

“No. I’m not being grabbed!”

“Grab it!”

“No. Can’t grab!”

The giants flailed their arms wildly, but they couldn’t reach me.

It was as if there was an invisible veil keeping them from catching even a bug-sized figure, leaving them stomping in frustration.

[Lol, what are they doing?]

[What’s wrong with them?]

[No way lol]

[Just grab already!]

[They look kinda cute from this angle.]

[Why can’t they do anything?]

“I’ve temporarily blocked them. Unless an upper-tier entity intervenes, they can’t get through.”

The translucent veil I had spread out was preventing the giants from approaching.
A bright curtain was blocking the giant’s approach.

Unless Ertarn comes personally, the giants won’t be able to break through just with their abilities.

“Hello?”

“Human.”

“Strong. Human.”

“Cannot break through.”

Thud! The giants slammed their fists against the curtain, but instead of opening, not even a crack appeared.

As if realizing they couldn’t break through, the largest giant lowered his head and locked eyes with me.

The giant with the strongest power among them.

The giant’s yellow eye looked down at me intently.

“I am Mudan. Human. What is the matter?”

“Mudan, Ertarn asked you to solve the problems of the giants here.”

“Problem?”

“Yes. Do you perhaps have any worries or issues?”

To be precise, it’s not just about solving the giants’ problems, but also addressing Ertarn’s issues.

If I hear the giants’ concerns, I’ll likely understand Ertarn’s issues too.

As I waited for a response, the big giant Mudan suddenly clashed his fists together and shouted.

“Great! Just as it should be!”

“?”

“Just right. We had a problem. It was hard with just our strength. This is good!”

Mudan stomped his feet as he headed somewhere.

I followed him, and soon he showed me a small Dimension Gate on the outskirts.

A tiny yellow dimension gate compared to its huge size.

I could feel a strange power coming from beyond the gate.

‘That place…’

[???]

[What is it?]

[Eh?]

[It’s shining]

[Is it some kind of dimension gate?]

“What is that?”

“It appeared since when. The beings coming out of here. Delicious.”

“Beings?”

What kind of beings?

“Just in time. It’s coming.”

Mudan pointed to the dimension gate as something bounced out from beyond it.

Cock-a-doodle-doo─!

It was a chicken with yellow feathers.

As the flock of chickens possessing yellow lightning burst out from the dimension gate, Mudan grabbed them and tossed them into his mouth.

Cock-a-doodle-doo~!

[Ah!]

[Chicken!!!]

[Suddenly eating lightning chicken, LOL]

[Wow]

[I want to eat chicken]

[He’s turning this into an eating broadcast, OMG]

[Lily, give me one too]

[Looks delicious]

“Mudan!”

“Delicious!”

“Why are you the only one eating? Give us some too!”

“It was my turn this time!”

“No!!!”

Kugugugugu!!!

One of the giants erupted with energy and struck Mudan.

Mudan got hit by the massive fist and fell over, and the giants charged at him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

“It was my turn!”

“No! It’s mine!”

“None of you are right!”
“Mudan! It’s your turn! Ugh. Don’t make a sound!”

[This is a mess]

[Hahaha]

[Why are they fighting?]

[Legendary]

[Chicken is serious business, yeah…]

[Let’s just kill them all]

[Totally random, lol]

“Seriously.”

Fighting over a chicken like this.

As the giants started brawling, the earth shook.

They weren’t trying to kill each other, but there was definitely some sincerity in their punches.

Bang! Bang! Crack!!!

They were hitting each other so hard that body parts were flying off.

Of course, being made of stone like celestial beings, the damage wasn’t very noticeable.

It didn’t even look painful.

“Everybody, calm down.”

“Mudan!!”

“Either way, I already ate it.”

“Spit it out!”

Mudan, who was at the very bottom, seemed more satisfied with eating the chickens than attacking.

He was quietly taking hits without really fighting back.

Being the strongest, he could handle the giants’ assaults without much trouble.

At this point, I began to understand why Ertarn referred to these giants as a burden.

‘If they keep fighting like this, there’ll be nothing left of nature.’

Ka-Boom!!!!

With intermediate-level strength, just a squabble over ‘who ate the chicken’ was enough to shake the earth.

Whether they got stronger by eating the chicken from the Dimension Gate or were just already strong enough to hoard it was unclear, but there weren’t any other life forms around.

Ertarn probably either moved them somewhere else or fled to avoid the fighting.

You could say Ertarn should stop it, but they weren’t trying to kill each other.

Ertarn wasn’t idle enough to interfere in such trivial issues about giants eating chicken.

Ertarn was a god of the world, not a king ruling over everyone.

‘Watching fights can be kinda fun though…’

“I guess it’s time to intervene.”

At this rate, the already ruined nature would suffer even more.

I pulled out the hammer that transformed into the White Guardian.

And.

“Mudan. Spit it out…”

“What I ate… huh?”

“Be quiet.”

KA-BOOM!!!!

The earth flipped upside down.

“Are you calm now?”

“……”

“……”

“Seriously, why were you fighting? Nature is hurting.”

Technically, it was nature, but also Ertarn.

[Hahaha]

[Level of the giants, lol]

[Great Lily]

[Equality before the hammer]

[Control your anger, what’s that about]

[Seems like Lily broke more stuff]
It seems like a lot, doesn’t it?

Gasp!

The giants, silently keeping their mouths shut.

There was a brief commotion, but it was easily resolved with my light tapping.

The giants knelt down, holding their sunken heads, and Mudan, who was in the center, let out heavy sighs, seemingly dissatisfied.

“Cough!”

They were still kneeling, though.

“I calmed you down just a little. It didn’t hurt that much, did it?”

“It hurt!”

“Really, really. It hurt! Are you really a human?!”

“It hurt!!”

Kraaaah!!

The giants shrieked as if they were having seizures.

One of them, unable to hold back, stood up, pushing away his knelt knees.

A giant who slapped their leader, Mudan.

He was burning with fury, charging towards me as if he was about to smack me.

Instead of responding, I just waved the hammer I was holding.

Cough!

“…My leg. Hurts.”

Sre…

He sat down again.

I looked at Mudan, the one right in front of me, with a satisfied expression.

“Anyway, to sum it up… the problem is that the chicken vending machine isn’t dispensing enough chicken, right?”

“? That sounds weird, but I think that’s right.”

The issue is that the chicken vending machine isn’t dispensing chicken…

Is simply increasing the amount of chicken or food that giants might like really the solution?

It would be great if it were that easy, but if it were that simple, Ertarn would have solved it already.

I can provide plenty of delicious food, but first, I need to investigate the chicken coming from beyond the Dimension Gate.

There must be a reason why giants, who don’t necessarily need to ‘eat’, consume living beings like chickens.

“How long has that Dimension Gate been around?”

“I don’t know!”

“Then do you know why chickens come out?”

“I don’t know!”

“Does eating chickens cause any special changes? It doesn’t seem like a regular chicken.”

“I don’t know!”

“Wanna bet?”

“No… no!”

LMAO!

Lily?

No wonder it’s infuriating.

The “I don’t know” bird, dammit! LMAO!

Let’s just kill them, Lily.

D-Lee-Ly!

I shook my head.

If even Mudan, the leader of the super giants, doesn’t know, then the other giants won’t either.

In the end, there’s only one thing left.

“I guess I have to go.”

To the other side of the Dimension Gate where the lightning chickens are jumping out.
