Chapter 658

Chapter Six Hundred Fifty-Nine: Childish Kindness

Little Lonely stood at the door for a while, looking like he didn’t really want to go.

But then he remembered that Aunt Yu was probably searching the world for him, so he reluctantly dashed back onto the street.

Young Master Sang stared at the courtyard for a bit and suddenly said, “This family must be residents from the seaside fishing village, right?”

“Guess so.”

Bai Ming hesitated and said, “I can’t remember clearly… but this personnel list should have records in the commerce.”

“I’ll dig it up for you.”

While Bai Ming was flipping through the documents, Young Master Sang peered through the wall, seeing the situation inside the house.

In the house, an elderly man, looking close to death, lay on the bed, his face pale and his health poor.

The little girl from before was now holding a thick cloth, lifting the steaming pot lid, and scooping out a bowl of medicinal soup.

“Grandpa, it’s time for your medicine.”

The little girl brought the soup to the bedside, struggling to help the elderly man sit up, carefully blowing on a spoonful of the soup.

“… Lian Lian, who was outside just now?”

“Don’t know. Probably someone lost.”

Young Master Sang could tell that the old man was suffering from illness, and merely relying on the soup wouldn’t keep him alive for long.

There were no other family members in the whole house; it seemed like it was just this old man and child depending on each other.

“They seem to be living quite a tough life,” Young Master Sang commented, turning to Bai Ming, “Didn’t your commerce give any compensation for the demolition back then?”

“Of course we did.”

Bai Ming, still flipping through the communication device, replied, “The Floating Splendor Commerce is sizable enough; we wouldn’t skimp on such a small amount.”

“Back then, compensation was given to every household in the fishing village, and it was quite generous, enough for an ordinary family to live comfortably for a lifetime.”

“Logically speaking, for families with old and young, the compensation would have been higher. There’s no reason they should be so impoverished living in this remote area.”

Young Master Sang nodded.

He understood. Sometimes, having money didn’t necessarily solve a family’s problems.

“I found it.”

Bai Ming handed the communication device to Young Master Sang: “That little girl is called He Lian Lian, and there are only three people in her family now.”

“Besides the gravely ill grandpa, she has a mother.”

“What about her father?”

“He passed away in an accident at sea before she was born.”

Bai Ming frowned as she read on: “Her mother has remarried and now lives in Linzhou, where she has quite a nice residence… Where did all that money go—”

She suddenly stopped, glancing at Young Master Sang.

Young Master Sang lowered his gaze, saying nothing.

But Bai Ming knew that the little girl’s plight must have stirred up some unwelcome memories for Young Master Sang.

“What do we do now? Should I call the commerce to rehouse this grandfather and granddaughter?”

“Not yet.” Young Master Sang shook his head, “I’d like to know how Little Lonely plans to solve this matter.”

“Let’s head back first. And give me the address of that little girl’s mother.”

Around noon, Master Yu Xia returned to the hotel with Little Lonely.

Not long after they returned, Master Yu Xia looked guilty and cautiously approached Young Master Sang: “I’m sorry, my lord… I was careless today and let the young master get lost on the street for a while…”

“It’s fine.”

Young Master Sang chuckled and recounted the morning’s events to Master Yu Xia.

That’s when she remembered something, looking thoughtful: “Speaking of which, didn’t the young master sneak out to play by himself last night too?”

“I didn’t pay much attention at the time, thinking there were so many commerce people around in the resort that it should be quite safe.”

“So, does that mean the young master ran out of the village?”

“Maybe.” Young Master Sang smiled, “Let’s see how he explains it later.”

Master Yu Xia blinked in confusion.

Soon, lunch was served in the room.

During the meal, Little Lonely kept his head down, looking deep in thought, lost in whatever world he was in.

Finally, as they were nearing the end of the meal, he seemed to gather courage and softly said, “Dad…”

“What’s up?”

“Weren’t you going to get me a puppy?”

Little Lonely whispered, “I found a puppy I really like and hope you can buy it for me.”

“That’s easy.”

Young Master Sang waved his hand: “No matter the price, Dad will buy it for you.”

As soon as he heard this, Little Lonely immediately put down his utensils, abandoning his meal, and pulled Young Master Sang out the door.

Bai Ming had something to say but was silenced by a look from Young Master Sang.

As expected, Little Lonely led Young Master Sang straight to the small woods outside the resort.

They arrived at He Lian Lian’s house, and Little Lonely stood at the door, taking a moment to compose himself, before suddenly raising his voice and banging on the door.

“Open up! Quickly let this young master in!”

Young Master Sang: “?”

The banging was pretty loud, and soon, the girl named He Lian Lian appeared, looking annoyed as she opened the door: “What do you want? Why are you back again?”

“Hmph.”

Little Lonely declared in a way that seemed far beyond his usual demeanor, “This young master has decided. I like your dog. If you’re smart, sell it to me, and I’ll pay whatever price you want.”

“I said I’m not selling!”

“Not selling? If you don’t sell, don’t blame me for forcibly taking it!”

Little Lonely said triumphantly: “Didn’t I mention? There are plenty of hotels by the sea owned by my family. If you’re stubborn, I’ll just bring people over to take that dog by force!”

“You!”

He Lian Lian seemed so angry her eyes were turning red, looking like she might cry.

“You wealthy people are all the same, so awful!”

Little Lonely huffed and turned his head away.

But Young Master Sang saw the fleeting look of grievance and loss on the little boy’s face.

At this point, he understood what his son was trying to do.

Though this approach was quite childish, Young Master Sang didn’t stop him.

Regardless of how childish it was, Little Lonely was trying to help this little girl in his own way.

If there was any lecturing to be done, it should be at a more appropriate time.

“Alright, no more talking.”

Little Lonely looked up at Young Master Sang and said, “Dad, the dog I want is in the yard. Let’s give her a casual one or two million, and we’ll take the dog home.”

Young Master Sang: “…”

Sure.

Still a child at heart.

One or two million? As if your father’s money was nothing.

But he played along, putting on a tough facade, ignoring the girl’s protests, and walked into the house.

“Old man, this one million is for my son to buy the dog.” He placed a card at the bedside.

“Since my son has set his eyes on it, we’ll take the dog.”

“Wait! Don’t take Ah Huang away!”

The girl was nearly in tears, but Little Lonely had already dashed into the yard.

In the doghouse, a little mutt was lying there, whining softly.
