Chapter 589

Chapter 581. Shopping

“Mom! I don’t want to sit…”

“Only kids sit in that!”

The three of us arrived at the basement storage room and spotted the baby stroller. Our daughter looked up at Ning Chu with a pitiful expression, pleading.

Ning Chu maintained a stern face: “Well, if your feet get sore, don’t expect your dad and me to carry you.”

“I won’t, I won’t!”

Seeing this, she reluctantly closed the storage room door and murmured, “Over a thousand… I thought it would last until you were five or six.”

“From now on, let’s use it as a shopping cart,” Wen Yang stepped forward and wrapped his arm around his wife’s slim waist, “Tomorrow, Shu Jun will start school~”

“What are you up to again?” Ning Chu crossed her arms and scrutinized him warily.

“Didn’t we agree to go to the hot springs? I’ve booked a couple’s room.”

She rolled her eyes: “Are we not inviting Lily?”

“No way, I can’t have you getting jealous just from me looking at her.”

“Dad~ I want to go play too!” Our daughter, entirely oblivious to the mood, ran over and tugged at Wen Yang’s shirt, looking up and asking, “Where are we going?”

“You’re going to school tomorrow, and your mom and I have something to do.”

Her expression fell immediately, and she countered, “I don’t want to go to school.”

Wen Yang felt a headache coming on: “But we agreed before! There are lots of kids to play with at school…”

“Don’t want to go!”

He helplessly looked up at Ning Chu, who frowned deeply. He quickly continued to soothe her, “If you don’t go to school, Mom will be angry.”

Ever since we had our daughter, Wen Yang realized just how scary Ning Chu could be when she was angry.

In the past, whether at work feeling wronged or frustrated about something, even if she got mad, it felt more like she was just being cute.

But after witnessing Ning Chu getting riled up over their daughter, Wen Yang was genuinely scared.

Our daughter, it seemed, was also scared; after hearing that Mom would be angry, she stealthily glanced at Ning Chu.

“Wen Shu Jun!”

She unwillingly turned her head away, dragging out the last syllable: “Got it~”

Ning Chu took a deep breath to suppress her temper and gently said with a smile, “Let’s go buy you a little backpack.”

“Oh~”

She took her daughter’s hand, letting out a resigned sigh.

I’m going to be driven to my grave!

This kid could be so sweet sometimes, making me think about having another one, yet at other times, she drives my blood pressure sky-high. And we haven’t even started school yet! When it comes to tutoring and homework, it’s going to be hell.

The shopping mall wasn’t far away. Wen Yang and Ning Chu held their daughter’s hands, leisurely walking along the sidewalk towards the mall.

Mom, elegant and charming, while Dad, tall, handsome, and mature, the three of them walking together made for quite a picturesque scene, attracting many passersby’s attention.

Their daughter quickly forgot the earlier displeasure, timidly shrinking back between her parents, her big eyes darting around at the pedestrians and surroundings.

“Such a little troublemaker.” Ning Chu looked down at her daughter and complained, “Making a racket at home, yet so quiet outside.”

“Isn’t that just like you?”

“What do you mean?”

However, they hadn’t even reached the mall when, unsurprisingly, the daughter stopped walking.

She nervously glanced at Ning Chu and tugged on Wen Yang’s hand: “Daddy~ carry~”

“Getting sore feet, huh?” Wen Yang chuckled and looked down, “Weren’t you just saying you wouldn’t?”

“I’m not! I just want Daddy to carry me!”

Ning Chu suddenly exclaimed, wrapping her arm around Wen Yang’s arm: “Oh, my feet are so sore, honey, carry me~”

“???”

Their daughter stood dumbfounded, watching as her mother melted into her father’s embrace.

“Your mom can’t walk anymore, so I’ll carry you later.”

“Okay…”

Wen Yang happily bent down, genuinely intending to scoop Ning Chu up, but she struggled and glared at him.

“We’re in public! You actually going to carry me?”

“Hey! Hey!”

Ning Chu’s resistance failed, and in front of everyone, Wen Yang lifted her up in a princess carry. She frantically wrapped her arms around Wen Yang’s, her face instantly turning bright red.

She only wanted to tease her daughter a little!

“We’re old married folk now, what’s there to be shy about?”

Ning Chu felt the eyes of passersby on them and immediately buried her face into Wen Yang’s shoulder, hardly able to lift her head, whispering in panic, “Put me down, this is so embarrassing…”

Now that their daughter had forgotten her sore feet and legs, she happily tugged at Wen Yang’s shirt, following closely behind.

“You don’t want me to carry you anymore?”

Ning Chu tried to find a way out.

“Don’t want to! Mom’s feet are sore.”

How come now you’re so understanding and well-behaved?

Her face was still flushed, burning hot against Wen Yang’s side, and she didn’t dare to look at the passersby.

Until her head was practically steaming, Wen Yang finally set her down.

As soon as her feet touched the ground, Ning Chu shot him an annoyed glare, then hurriedly turned away, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

After a little adjustment, the previously teased girl had reverted to a graceful lady, though the blush on her cheeks was impossible to hide.

“Crazy!”

Ning Chu muttered under her breath, giving a glance at Wen Yang, who was now carrying another woman.

“Scumbag!”

“???” Wen Yang looked at her, both amused and helpless.

“Do you want me to get you a bag too? To celebrate our daughter starting school.”

Logically speaking, once the kid starts kindergarten, the stress on the mother would lighten considerably.

Ning Chu thought for a moment and shook her head: “Forget the bag, but can we do my hair instead?”

She was going to meet Lily tomorrow, so she needed to look presentable. After all, now that she had a child, who knows who might look better?

“Sure.”

But their daughter wore a face of reluctance, leaning into Wen Yang’s ear and reminding him: “Mom’s hairdo takes a long time.”

“Let’s accompany Mom in doing her hair; once we’re done, I’ll take you out for something delicious.”

“Okay…”

“Let’s give Shu Jun a hairstyle too. I saw one online that looks cute on her!”

Ning Chu looked over her daughter’s thick long hair, smiling as she said.

Having a cute and beautiful daughter allows for all the hairstyles and clothes I like to be tried on her; all those Lolita cosplay outfits can totally be arranged.

That’s led to their wardrobe being jam-packed.

“Mom, will it look good?”

“Absolutely! You’re so pretty, what hairstyle wouldn’t suit you?”

“Then Mom can get one like mine.”

Ning Chu hesitated, fiddling with her hair: “I don’t have enough hair; it wouldn’t suit me…”

During pregnancy and childbirth, she lost quite a bit of her once-thick long hair, and the stress from caring for the child prevented it from recovering fully.

“Mom’s so pretty, what hairstyle wouldn’t suit her~”

Wen Yang nodded in agreement.

“You’re pretty clever at times.” Ning Chu rolled her eyes, “I can’t wait to see your grades after school.”

Don’t let her be a slacker who can’t focus in kindergarten and ends up being a poor student.

Even though she didn’t have high expectations for her daughter’s grades, the bare minimum was a diploma—she can’t have a succubus outshine a cat!
