Chapter 587. Two-Person World
Ever since the day he met Ning Chu, life finally had a direction.
No longer living mindlessly, nor aimlessly without a sense of purpose.
He had a wife, a lovely little daughter, and a home of his own. He transformed from a naive college student into a husband and father, bearing heavier responsibilities, yet life grew increasingly delightful.
If only there weren’t so many overtime hours…
If it weren’t for the urgent need for money at home, he would have long thought about quitting!
Stepping out of the elevator, it was already nine o’clock in the evening.
Wen Yang dragged his tired body to the front door, took a deep breath, and covered his face with his hands, vigorously rubbing it.
Gathering his energy, he straightened his slightly hunched back and finally opened the door, looking inside.
Sure enough, Ning Chu was standing at the door with their daughter in her arms, smiling warmly, and the gentle smile in her eyes lifted his spirits, making the fatigue seem to evaporate.
“You’re back so late? I’ve been waiting for you forever.”
Wen Yang kicked off his shoes, opened his arms, and walked into the house, gently hugging his wife and child.
“There’s some midnight snack in the kitchen…”
Ning Chu’s face turned crimson as she wriggled free from Wen Yang’s embrace, looking a bit flustered as she glanced toward the kitchen.
“Why are you so shy today? We’ve been married forever; how can a hug still make you blush?”
“N-no…” She dodged his gaze, shoving their daughter into Wen Yang’s arms and scampering off to the kitchen, “I’m just going to heat it up for you!”
As time went by, the aftermath of childbirth gradually faded from Ning Chu.
Every day, while their daughter was asleep, she practiced yoga to regain her figure.
Her swollen limbs from pregnancy returned to normal, her figure became slim and graceful, and the stretch marks on her belly faded, almost invisible unless closely inspected.
Though taking care of the baby made her a bit unkempt and not much into dressing up, her complexion was rosy again, the acne on her face disappeared, and her skin became smooth and tender like tofu.
What thrilled Wen Yang was that her chest had grown a size!
“I bought something for you; I heard it can help with stretch marks.”
Wen Yang carried their daughter outside the kitchen, speaking through the door.
“Will it be effective? Don’t waste money on that.”
He wasn’t too sure: “It should work? The reviews say it’s good. You can use it when you have time; it’s not a hassle.”
Ning Chu finished heating up the midnight snack, walking out of the kitchen with a bowl, her tone quite proud: “Black pepper beef pasta! Super delicious! I saved you a portion.”
“Ordered takeout?”
“I made it myself!”
With not much to do at home and her mother often coming over to help with chores and look after the baby, her free time was mostly spent researching cooking and playing games or watching TV.
Ning Chu placed their daughter in the cradle, resting her chin on her hand at the dining table, looking at Wen Yang eagerly: “Honey, I want to discuss something with you.”
“What? This pasta is pretty good—better than what you get outside.”
She twirled a strand of hair around her finger, slightly blushing as she suggested: “What if I go back to work? Once Shu Jun gets a bit bigger.”
“I haven’t worked for almost two years! First, it was house renovations, then preparing for pregnancy. It’s been so long… I can’t keep making you be the only one going to work, bringing in money. You can’t keep working overtime like this—what if you drop dead from it in your thirties, leaving me and our daughter behind?”
“???”
Wen Yang raised an eyebrow in confusion, giving her an annoyed look: “Can you not curse me like that? I’m in great health!”
“Being a housewife and taking care of our daughter is pretty good, right? My income is enough for our family, isn’t it?”
Ning Chu pouted, dissatisfied: “I want to be part of society again… I hardly get any social interaction, I can only chat with Xin Ya, and even finding someone to duo with in games is tough.”
Many think being a full-time housewife is a wonderful thing.
Well, she thought so too.
Although life was dull, revolving around her husband and daughter, at least she wouldn’t have to deal with a boss, nor work overtime, with no time to rest.
“But there’s still a mortgage, and we need to raise our child; the pressure on you is too much.”
Yet, Ning Chu didn’t want to lose the ability to earn money and become a “dependent” on Wen Yang, making her feel guilty whenever she purchased something; her standing in the family seemed lower.
Thinking worse, what if, for some reason, one day Wen Yang couldn’t continue to earn money for the family? With her long-term lack of social engagement, even if she went to work, she could only end up doing jobs like being a waitress.
Wen Yang still disagreed with Ning Chu’s thoughts: “We’re dividing the labor here; I handle the outside, and you manage the inside. Isn’t it great?”
“……”
He changed his angle: “You can trust Mom to take care of Shu Jun? Have you seen how spoil her?”
Mentioning this made Ning Chu waver: “I guess I don’t trust her too much…”
Maybe it’s because of the grandparent-grandchild bond or perhaps her mother was just overly free—she’d want Shu Jun to live in a germ-free bubble! If she were to really take care of the baby, who knows what would happen.
Ning Chu hesitated: “She shouldn’t go overboard, right?”
“Would you not agree if she wanted to stay and help take care of the baby?”
“I find her annoying… She scolds me when I play games, saying I’m not watching the baby when the baby is clearly asleep.”
“She’d spoil her rotten; it’d be too late to change things later.”
“True…”
Seeing his wife being won over, Wen Yang felt relieved. After finishing his noodles, he took the bowl into the kitchen: “Don’t worry; I can earn enough money all by myself.”
He bent down to wash the dishes, hearing footsteps approaching from behind, he continued, “I plan to save some money to start a business. After all these years, I have quite a bit of client resources. Always working for someone else isn’t good; I’m exhausted and still not making much.”
“But…”
Ning Chu was conservative; thinking about starting a business instantly made her worry about losing money.
“I’m the main character here; I’ve got the protagonist’s halo on me, why should I be scared?”
She burst into a giggle: “As if you’ve ever believed that.”
For what Wen Yang wanted to do, she always supported him unconditionally, nodding with a smile: “If you’re going to run a business, remember to set aside a few months of living expenses for home, so if you lose money, we won’t be living on air.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
After washing the dishes, Wen Yang straightened up, not having turned around when he felt Ning Chu’s body leaning against his back.
His wife’s figure was fuller and more ample than before, but she didn’t look fat; overall, she remained slender. The curves against his back felt soft, and she even exuded a faint milky scent.
“I’ve healed; the doctor said I can…”
Not just from the injuries of childbirth, the Succubus’ body had returned to its usual state, craving nourishment even more.
The little demoness, blushing fiercely, leaned against Wen Yang’s broad back, her waist swaying like a water snake, rubbing against his solid muscles.
Inhaling her husband’s scent, she felt her body heat up, and her lower abdomen tingled strangely; her skin took on a flirtatious rosy hue.
Yet, having gone so long without intimacy, her shyness had increased significantly, making her head spin with embarrassment.
“No wonder you’re so shy today.”
Wen Yang casually pulled the kitchen curtain shut.
“Not here…”
“Whoa~”
With half their clothes off, the couple suddenly heard their daughter crying, causing them to jolt and immediately turn toward the cradle in the dining room.
“The two-person world is completely gone now…”
Wen Yang sighed helplessly.
He suddenly felt that not having kids could be nice—at least they wouldn’t be disturbed.
