Chapter 579

Chapter 581. After Marriage

As night fell, guests began to disperse one after another.

After settling the out-of-town guests and being busy from morning till night, Ning Chu returned home, dragging her exhausted body. She was too lazy to change out of her wedding dress and just flopped onto the sofa.

Yet her mood was still euphoric, chattering non-stop, “I told you they could get back together! Shaoqing said Wang Jie went straight to the rabbit’s room! We might just see him weak in the knees tomorrow again~”

“It really is better to have a wedding, even if it was a bit tiring! But it feels amazing~”

“Honey, honey! How much red envelope money did we receive? Hurry, let’s count! Can we break even here?”

Wen Yang finally took off his suit jacket and hung it by the door, carelessly tossed his tie on the shoe rack, and just wore a white shirt as he plopped down beside Ning Chu with a big bag in hand.

“I roughly calculated just now; counting those who couldn’t make it and the online transfer of bridal gifts, it should be over a hundred thousand.”

“That’s so little; Grandpa gave us fifty thousand!”

“Others only gave three to five hundred at most, with a thousand being the highest.”

Ning Chu flipped over and snatched the bag, ripping it open to peek inside.

The sight of those red envelopes and stacks of cash almost made her eyes sparkle with money.

“I’m counting now~” She took off her white silk long gloves, her eyes squinting delightfully as she opened the envelopes, “Looks like we’re losing a few tens of thousands; it’s all my mom’s fault for insisting we get custom wedding dresses and suits! Otherwise, it would have been just right.”

“The custom ones look great.”

Especially on his wife, whose wedding gown hugged her ample upper body, pure white and flawless, exuding both innocence and allure.

Too bad the wedding dress was expensive; it would have to be kept as a collectible, only to be worn occasionally for photos.

“Why are you just staring at me? Help me count too, we need to save it in the bank tomorrow.”

Ning Chu felt the stare lingering on her and frowned, looking up to find Wen Yang’s eyes slightly glazed, the corners red, fixated on her chest.

Her cheeks flushed, and she hurriedly looked down, mumbling, “Mom is coming soon.”

Wearing that wedding dress in the formal setting of the wedding wasn’t a big deal; it was beautiful and grand, but in private, with a man in the same room, it made her feel a bit too exposed.

It was just like wearing intimate garments…

With her creamy chest partially revealed, from her shoulders to her collarbone all exposed to the air, and she hadn’t worn a bra for looks, only some tape to prevent any embarrassing slips.

The curves of her body from breasts to hips hugged the gown tight; the material around her abdomen was semi-transparent, slightly revealing her skin tone, even showing her dainty belly button.

Wen Yang had consumed a fair amount of alcohol, not drunk, but his self-control was clearly weaker than usual.

He couldn’t help but reach out, wrapping his hands around her delicate waist, the warmth of his palm seeping through the thin wedding dress to Ning Chu’s body, instantly making the succubus go weak at the knees.

“Don’t mess around~”

The heavy, warm breath of Wen Yang brushed against Ning Chu’s ear, instantly dyeing her sensitive, delicate ears a shade of crimson.

So true! It’s really not the succubus’s fault!

This man wants it even more than the succubus!

Ning Chu soon gave up resisting, curling up in Wen Yang’s embrace, her eyes squinting with glee and carelessly scattering money all around.

Then the doorbell rang.

“!!!”

She suddenly regained energy, pushing Wen Yang away and straightening her disheveled wedding dress to sit up straight.

Wen Yang scratched his head in frustration, got up to open the door: “Mom.”

Her mother and Hei Dou stood outside, laden with bags.

“I was just a few minutes behind; why did you close the door…” Mom’s words halted suddenly, her nose twitched, glancing down and instantly guessed what had just happened inside.

She covered her mouth and smiled coyly, teasing, “So anxious, huh? Should I come back tomorrow instead?”

Wen Yang awkwardly chuckled, “Mom, come inside; we have something to discuss.”

“It’s nothing major.”

Mom placed her things down: “Some guests brought gifts; you remember to take the red envelope when you leave, right?”

“We need to account for all these; we’ll have to give thank-you gifts later.”

“And don’t forget to transfer the remaining balance for the wedding company and the restaurant to me; I covered it for you.”

As she spoke, she glanced at her daughter, who was hidden behind the sofa, only showing the back of her head, then casually took Hei Dou’s hand: “Just this little bit, you two continue, Ning Xin and I will head back.”

Young people are just different~ They’ve been busting their butts over wedding stuff for days, utterly worn out, but as soon as they catch a breath, still can’t hold back their restlessness in the wedding dress without even having changed out of it.

“Why don’t you stay and eat something?”

“We’re off, we don’t want to interfere with your wedding night~”

After sending off her mother and Hei Dou, Wen Yang let out a sigh of relief. However, after such a scare, his earlier thoughts had completely vanished.

He returned to the sofa, picking up the scattered money from the floor and muttering in exasperation, “Mom really is something; this could have waited until morning.”

“Exactly…”

Ning Chu mumbled quietly, continuing to sit on the sofa counting money, “Are you hungry?”

“A bit, I didn’t even have time to eat a few bites.”

“Me too… I’m afraid if I eat too much, it’ll show a little belly.”

“I can make you some midnight snacks later; how about dumplings? We still have some from when Mom made them last time.”

She suddenly gasped, “Wow! Shaoqing gave us a ten-thousand-dollar red envelope!”

“That’s a lot?”

“Sure enough, he’s the child of a rich family~ The car he borrowed from us seems to be expensive too~”

Ning Chu happily jotted down a note for Zhang Shaoqing: “I need to make sure he pays us back when he gets married… Hey, why didn’t Qian Qian come to our wedding? What’s the situation with them? They have no shortage of money or housing, yet they still haven’t tied the knot.”

Wen Yang leaned against the sofa back, watching his wife record the money, “How would I know? Why are you keeping such detailed notes?”

“Because we need to pay it back later… Do you really think I’m just a money-grubber who only knows how to count?”

As Ning Chu spoke, a joyous smile spread across her face as she joked, “In half a year, our baby will be born; we can throw another banquet then~ Will collect another wave of red envelopes!”

“And then there’s the first birthday party, graduation party… Oh, we could have had a banquet when we bought the house and moved, what a shame.”

Wen Yang lightly tapped her forehead: “You still say you’re not a money-grubber.”

“Honey, should we celebrate our wedding anniversary based on the date we got our license or the wedding day?”

“Both! I’ll go make you some dumplings.”

“Let me clean up a bit first.”

The place was a mess; during the marriage proposal, a bunch of people saw the wedding house, leaving trash everywhere, and clear footprints could be seen on the tiled floor, making one irritated.

The decorations for the wedding, like balloons and stickers, needed to be put away, along with the large red blankets and sheets that had been rolled around by a bunch of kids, supposedly some sort of blessing, but Ning Chu found it a bit distasteful.

“Wife! Eat first; I’ll clean up afterward.”

The dumplings were soon cooked and served at the table, and Wen Yang called out loudly.

“Coming!” Ning Chu jogged into the dining room, mouth open wide, “Ah~”

“You’re an adult; you still want me to feed you.”

She leaned her head against Wen Yang’s shoulder, her eyebrows curving in a delighted crescent shape.

“What are you laughing at?” Wen Yang puzzled as he dipped a dumpling in tomato sauce and stuffed it into her mouth, muttering, “I’ve never seen anyone eat dumplings with tomato sauce except you; you’re so weird.”

With her mouth stuffed full of dumplings, Ning Chu puffed out her cheeks and mumbled.

“I just think, life is so wonderful right now~ being with you…”

“What did you say? It’s all mumble-mumble; I can’t hear a word, swallow it and say it again.”

“I said, are your dumplings cooked yet?”

“Are they? Let me check…”
