Chapter 549. Leaving School
“You actually want to be a police officer?!”
“Yup!”
Ning Chu looked up and down at the loli-sized girl with red hair in twin ponytails, utterly failing to see how this was the kind of material for a police officer.
“You can’t even pass your graduate entrance exam, how do you expect to pass the civil service exam?”
Qian Qian nodded vigorously again, “I have to give it a try!”
“Somehow, even if you become a police officer, it’s probably not going to be like what you imagine.”
“But I’m a magical girl~ very strong, okay?” She puffed out her chest like a steel plate, “With great power comes great responsibility! I want to dedicate my limited time to justice, not be stuck in a boring 9 to 5 job!”
This girl was still young and hadn’t outgrown her middle school syndrome; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so foolishly tricked into becoming a magical girl years ago.
However, Ning Chu liked her sense of justice; this society needed such people.
After taking the graduation photos, the group lingered, chatting leisurely as they strolled around the school before finally arriving at the school gate.
Ning Chu turned back to Wang Jie, who was following silently behind.
“You should find a job; stop just staying in the dorm playing games. If you keep it up, you’ll get kicked out soon.”
Wen Yang chimed in, “Even if you aren’t sure about what you want to do, you can at least find something to do in the meantime. Ning Chu worked as a customer service agent for a few months last year, it’s better than doing nothing.”
“Yeah… I know.”
Wang Jie looked down, picking at his nails.
“You’ve been broken up with her for a year now; stop living in the past.”
He noticed Ning Chu was starting her meddling sister act again.
It was the same back then; no matter if it was him or Zhang Shaoqing or Wen Yang, anytime something happened, Ning Chu would be the first to ask, even when they had just started college and barely knew each other.
“Not really, I’m almost forgetting what she looks like.”
“You haven’t been working; how are you going to handle your internship report?”
“There’s a printing shop off-campus; they have a bunch of company seals I can use…”
Ning Chu was momentarily stunned; she hadn’t expected this loophole. No wonder every university’s employment rate was so high; the schools probably turned a blind eye to it.
“Should we head out now? Better lose some weight so you aren’t two hundred pounds when we meet again in two years.”
“Okay.”
Wen Yang patted Wang Jie on the shoulder, “If you need anything, just message us in the group.”
“Yeah, bye.”
“Wen Yang! Let’s go!”
Hearing Ning Chu call, he finally left Wang Jie’s side, stepping forward to take his little demoness’s hand.
The pedestrian street outside was bustling; it was still early evening, and the restaurants had already placed their tables and chairs out on the street, each place packed with students.
“So this is really graduation, huh~ after this, we probably won’t come back.”
Ning Chu looked at the lively street, feeling a bit down as she mumbled.
As they walked out of the school, the mood was rather somber, except for Yan Xinya, who was carefree, darting around looking for interesting snacks.
“Hey! Do you guys want some mixed grain pancakes? Buy one to share!”
“Don’t eat yet! The bus is almost here!”
“Oh! Qian Qian, are you going?”
Wolf Sis zipped back, running up to Qian Qian.
“I still have work tomorrow…” Qian Qian looked pitifully at Lily, “Guess we’ll only have a chance to meet again later.”
Lily turned her head, avoiding her gaze.
“Lily’s eyes are red!” Yan Xinya exclaimed like she discovered a new continent, only to get smacked by Lily in response.
She instantly quieted down, rubbing the back of her head in pain and muttering, “Did that hit me in the head too hard?”
“Well, Xinya is already pretty silly.”
Qian Qian turned to Ning Chu and asked, “Ning Chu, when are you and Wen Yang getting married?”
“Why does everyone have to ask that?” Ning Chu rolled her eyes in annoyance, “Wen Yang doesn’t want to marry me.”
“Huh? Wen Yang, what’s going on?!”
Qian Qian gasped in shock.
“Don’t spread rumors, it’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that I don’t have any money.”
“You can get married even without money~ Ning Chu wouldn’t mind, would she?”
Ning Chu nodded her head vigorously.
Although she had once told Wen Yang that she wouldn’t marry without a house and a car, that excuse was just a way to delay things. She had even said there couldn’t be any premarital actions.
Yet there it was, she had given it all away and went partying every night; she might even be slightly addicted.
Wen Yang glanced at the little demoness nodding away like a chick pecking at food, chuckling as he replied, “The problem is my future mother-in-law would mind.”
That was indeed a major problem.
Ning Chu pondered this was the perfect time to discuss the matter with her mother during her return trip.
If they waited for Wen Yang to buy a house, who knew how long that would take.
Even if they could earn three or four hundred thousand a year combined, the high cost of living in the big city would eat that up; saving half would be a miracle… she might end up waiting until she was thirty, turning into an old woman before they could afford a million-dollar down payment for a house.
“Wen Yang, in a few days, I’ll help talk to her about it.”
Ning Chu stood on her tiptoes and whispered in Wen Yang’s ear.
“Are you that eager to marry me?” Wen Yang teased.
Her little face instantly flushed red, and Ning Chu looked away, denying it, “It’s not like that… they’re just waiting for the wedding banquet, right?”
“Exactly!” Yan Xinya, always eager for sweets, chimed in, “After the wedding, we’ll have a full-month celebration! No matter how busy we are, we’ll come!”
“Wedding? We’re not even at that point yet; besides, I don’t plan on having kids—it’ll ruin my figure.”
Lily perked up at this, looking up joyfully, “That means you won’t have my figure.”
“That’s debatable…”
Ning Chu anxiously looked down at her chest.
Over the past few years, her once B+ cup had swelled to a C cup. If she had a kid, it would probably get even bigger.
Fortunately, she had a small frame, so even if it grew a bit more, it shouldn’t look too awkward.
“My ride’s here!”
Qian Qian shouted as her ride-hailing car pulled up first, stopping at the roadside.
She waved at the others, “Bye~ Wait for my good news about becoming a police officer! Xinya, drink less, don’t go crazy at Lily’s house.”
“Got it! I’ll be back in a couple of days!”
“Why hasn’t our car shown up?” Lily waved goodbye to Qian Qian, glancing nervously at the ride-hailing app, “So slow.”
She rarely displayed such impatience, pacing lightly in place as if she couldn’t wait to get home.
“The high-speed train will make it in time, right? Who told you to book such an early ticket?”
Ning Chu leaned in teasingly, folding her arms as she figured out Lily’s little secret, “Are you itching to get home to do something naughty?”
“……”
“When the time comes, Wen Yang will be there too~ so be careful, don’t do anything reckless.”
Lily’s ears turned red from her teasing, and she turned her head in an embarrassed fluster.
Seeing Lily getting bullied, Yan Xinya chimed in, “Speaking of Lily, you still have to sleep with us tonight.”
“Not happening! You snore! You kept me up all night last night!”
“Then you’ll have to sleep away from Wen Yang.”
“I don’t want to! I can’t sleep without Wen Yang with me!”
Yan Xinya covered her mouth, “Oh~ that’s so awkward!”
“This is not awkward at all…”
