Chapter 509

Chapter 511. Drunk

By the time Wen Yang received the news and arrived at the little bar, it was already close to noon.

He looked helplessly at the girls sprawled across the table and turned to Zhang Shaoqing.

“What happened?”

Yan Xinya and Qian Qian can be ignored; those two girls are the type who seizes any opportunity to drink to their heart’s content. But Ning Chu has always hated alcohol.

How did Ning Chu end up this way?

“How would I know? I was supposed to go shopping with them, just carrying the bags,” Zhang Shaoqing shrugged innocently, sitting at the side sipping cola. “But I overslept by an hour, and when I got here, this is how it was.”

Wen Yang walked up and stood behind Ning Chu. Perhaps hearing his footsteps, she didn’t even look up, mumbling incoherently before she suddenly fell into his arms, hugging his waist.

“Wen Yang~”

Her flushed, hot face rubbed against his abdomen, making him feel a bit awkward and wanting to step back, but Ning Chu held onto him tightly.

He glanced around nervously and gently patted the Little Demoness on the head, asking, “What made you suddenly drink?”

“It’s all Lily’s fault!”

“Why blame me?”

The sleeping Lily suddenly perked up, launching herself at Ning Chu.

Watching the two demonesses play around, Wen Yang was even more confused and took a step back, feeling aimless.

But it was indeed rare to see Lily this lively.

Usually, she always had an ice-cold expression; even in front of friends, she’d be slightly more talkative but still maintained an elegant and aloof demeanor, unlike now where she was disheveled, bickering with Ning Chu.

“Why not take Ning Chu back to sleep?” Zhang Shaoqing suggested. “I can take care of Qian Qian. I’ll inform Xin Ya’s boyfriend, and the rest can just stay here.”

“Let’s go together!”

Qian Qian suddenly hugged Ning Chu’s arm.

“I just broke up with that guy, why would I want to lead anyone anywhere?”

“When did that happen?”

Zhang Shaoqing looked at Yan Xinya in surprise.

Mentioning this made Wolf Girl furious, and she stood up angrily, grabbing Ning Chu’s hand and pressing it to her chest: “He treated me like this! And then I…”

Wen Yang, frightened, quickly held back the Wolf Girl, who seemed like she was about to throw Ning Chu over her shoulder.

“I’m not stupid~ just showing you what I meant…”

“Drink a little less, please.”

After seeing Yan Xinya’s demonstration, he felt sympathy for the man who might end up getting thrown. He had met that weak-looking guy a few times, and he couldn’t handle that throw…

He might still be lying in the hospital now.

He helplessly adjusted Ning Chu’s slipping strap back into place, preventing the Little Demoness from exposing herself.

Wen Yang took the bottles of alcohol from the table one by one to prevent these girls from ending up in trouble, then sat across from Zhang Shaoqing, shaking his head, “One by one…”

“By the way, how are things going with your mom about the issue?”

“How would I know?”

Zhang Shaoqing’s playful demeanor quickly faded. He lit a cigarette and muttered, “I’ll just play along for now! What else can I do? Am I really going to run away from home?”

“You’ve done that before.”

“If my card gets frozen again by my mom, am I supposed to just starve with Qian Qian?” He crossed his legs and countered, “What about you? Didn’t you say you were going away, and Ning Chu wanted to stay?”

“Ning Chu is coming with me.”

“That’s nice~ her parents don’t mind you’re a poor guy?”

They did mind at one point.

Fortunately, Ning Chu’s attitude was firm, and her future mother-in-law didn’t have a strong control tendency. Plus, he had been doing well enough to leave a good impression.

Otherwise, he might have faced the same dilemmas as Zhang Shaoqing and Qian Qian.

“They won’t wake up anytime soon, so I’m going to grab some food.”

Zhang Shaoqing went to the back kitchen of the bar while Wen Yang stayed behind to keep an eye on the drunks.

Ning Chu moved closer and sat beside Wen Yang, comfortably lounging on the bar’s small sofa, resting her head on his thigh.

“Why drink so much?” Wen Yang gently played with her long hair.

She hadn’t drunk a lot, but her tolerance was low. She opened her eyes lazily, struggling to focus on Wen Yang above her.

After a moment, her eyes reddened as she mumbled, “We won’t have a chance to meet up next semester…”

I have to say, her defenseless, blushing appearance with dazed eyes made one want to bully her.

Wen Yang pinched Ning Chu’s cheek: “There will be opportunities in the future.”

He felt a mild sense of melancholy and loss about graduating and leaving friends he had interacted with for years, but it was not as strong as Ning Chu’s emotional response.

Ning Chu turned over, her face now against Wen Yang’s abdomen, murmuring, “By then, everyone will have changed; it won’t be as fun as it is now~”

“That’s true.”

Zhang Shaoqing returned with two packets of peanuts, sitting across from them, glancing at the Ning Chu lying on Wen Yang’s lap: “Wow~ Can’t get away from the guy even when drunk?”

Ning Chu lifted her arm and casually tossed her phone at him: “Not drunk!”

“Can’t believe it! You’re throwing away your phone? Still not drunk?”

Zhang Shaoqing carefully caught the phone, a bit scared.

“Stop teasing her.”

Wen Yang put the phone in his pocket, worried that Ning Chu would cry over the broken screen once she woke up.

“What about Wang Jie? Haven’t seen him in class these past few days.”

“Ever since he argued with his girlfriend, he’s just been playing games all day long, forgets to attend class.”

The two men sighed in helplessness.

Initially, they had planned to take their girlfriends home, but apart from Ning Chu and Qian Qian, there were still three girls left unattended. They couldn’t just leave them in the bar without care.

They couldn’t even walk away for a moment, fearing Yan Xinya might want to demonstrate something with her best friend again.

“Are you going to take over the family business or start your own?”

The bar’s TV turned on, adding a bit of liveliness to the atmosphere. Wen Yang munched on peanuts while asking Zhang Shaoqing.

“Me? I just live off my family.”

“And your internship certification…?”

“My family owns a company, so how hard can that be?” Zhang Shaoqing replied nonchalantly. “Anyone can come find me for a job; it’s just a matter of stamping a piece of paper.”

He paused for a moment, slightly serious, turning to glance at Qian Qian, resting his chin on his hand: “Isn’t it fine to do anything? I just don’t want to hang out in bars or KTVs every day anymore; I’ve had enough. Qian Qian won’t let me either.”

“You’re lucky~ You can do whatever you want; my mom has to control everything, and Qian Qian is always bossing me around…”

Wen Yang just smiled without joining in.

At least Zhang Shaoqing wouldn’t have to worry about money troubles.

Ning Chu’s family was in the provincial capital, and even for a house in a remote area, it would still cost more than 20,000 per square meter. Just putting together a small 40-50 square meter apartment would run over a million.

If things went smoothly with work, it would likely be nearly thirty before he could gather a down payment, along with a mountain of debt.

Fortunately, the housing market wasn’t doing well right now, and prices were gradually dropping, so there was hope to be seen.
