Chapter 508

Chapter 510. The Feast Will Eventually End

The next day was the weekend, and Ning Chu got up early and went to the entrance of the clearing bar outside the school.

Normally, bars wouldn’t open in the early morning, but this one had its door half ajar, with soft music playing inside.

“Qian Qian Jie~”

She pushed the door in, and behind the bar counter, Qian Qian was holding a bottle of liquor, leaning on the counter with a dazed look in her eyes.

“Why are you drinking in broad daylight?”

Seeing Qian Qian’s current state, Ning Chu couldn’t help but frown, stepping forward to snatch the bottle away and placing it on a table far away.

“So annoying.”

Qian Qian’s white cat ears drooped as she buried her face in her arms in despair.

“What’s wrong?”

“Isn’t it because of Shao Qing’s mom… She thinks I’m too old and says I’m just after Shao Qing’s money.”

Ning Chu had never heard of this, but she recalled seeing Zhang Shao Qing looking quite troubled during yesterday’s gym class.

She had thought he was worried about his internship, but it turned out to be his mother causing trouble again.

“Did she really say that?”

“Not directly… But isn’t her insinuation that I’m just after Shao Qing’s money!” Qian Qian was already half-drunk, her voice loud as she slammed the table, indignant, “Of course I’m after his money! So what!”

“Having money is already a plus! Who doesn’t like money? But I’ve been with Shao Qing for three years; I haven’t really used his money!”

Ning Chu glanced around the small bar and cautiously asked, “How about this place…?”

This bar had opened two years ago, and Qian Qian had left her job at school to focus on managing it.

As a result, she had failed her end-of-term English exam and had to retake it.

“Come on! We’ve been open and haven’t made a dime; I’m still paying for the utilities and rent. All my savings went into this.”

“And he’s the actual boss; I’m just paying to work here.”

She helplessly cradled her face in her hands, watching Qian Qian vent her frustrations.

Fortunately, the door at the back opened again.

“Good morning!”

“Ning Chu Jie! Morning!”

The lively Husky burst in first, followed by the cool-looking Succubus in a conservative long dress, and the red-haired magical girl with twin ponytails.

They had planned to go shopping and watch a movie together that weekend, casually discussing Qian Qian’s future boyfriend. Previously, they would gather at the café across the school gate, but now they’d meet here since Qian Qian opened her bar.

Here, they could get free drinks, and if they came in the afternoon or evening, they could even snag some barbecue.

Ning Chu suspected that the main reason for this bar’s losses was because of these “freeloaders.”

As the group grew, Qian Qian didn’t look so much like a drunken lamenting woman anymore, but she still wore a dazed expression.

“Did Qian Qian Jie drink?”

“Get me two bottles too! I’m in a bad mood!”

Yan Xinya hollered noisily, but the others just shot her a glance and continued chatting about Qian Qian’s matters.

“What’s the name of the boy Qian Qian likes?” Qian Qian temporarily set aside her troubles, inquiring curiously.

“I don’t have a picture of him…”

She changed the question, “Then how old is he?”

“Ten…” Qian Qian almost blurted out, her face turning red, holding back her slip, “I think he’s about twenty, a bit older than me.”

Qian Qian isn’t a Succubus, and although they’re close friends, they haven’t interacted much, so when asked about age, the chances are she was indeed asking about his age.

“Xinya, didn’t you see him?” Ning Chu turned to the Wolf Girl beside her, “You said you met him when playing ball together.”

“I want to drink too!”

She then turned to Lily and asked, “What’s Xinya causing a fuss about?”

Lily silently took a bottle of drink from the fridge, sipped, and then replied, “Her boyfriend wants to break up with her.”

“Ah? Didn’t they just date for half a year? Why the sudden breakup?”

Half a year ago, who knows what kind of mental error that man made, aggressively pursuing Yan Xinya, and since the Wolf Girl was never good at resisting sweet talk, she reluctantly agreed.

There hadn’t been any fights recently, and she occasionally saw the two happily strolling around the campus.

Yan Xinya was slumped over the table, picking up on what Lily had said: “It was just that I accidentally hit him!”

“What about this…?”

“He wanted to touch my chest! I just instinctively slammed him to the ground!” the Wolf Girl declared, standing her ground, “I didn’t do it on purpose! I even apologized!”

“……”

Though she always acted bold, she was sensitive at heart. After experiencing harassment, she had developed a strong aversion to affectionate contact from the opposite gender.

In reality, with one punch, even an ordinary person would struggle to withstand it. Though Ning Chu often treated her like a Husky, she was indeed a big gray wolf.

“How are you going to find a boyfriend with your situation? It took you six months just to hold hands; even elementary school kids date more openly than you two.” Ning Chu teased.

Qian Qian nodded vigorously: “Exactly!”

“Maybe I just don’t like him enough?” Yan Xinya slouched onto the table, her tail sweeping the ground, puffing her cheeks as she mumbled, “I only said yes because I was really annoyed, and you guys egged me on.”

Ning Chu immediately clarified, “I just told you to think it over; it was Qian Qian who egged you on.”

“I was just following Sister Lily’s lead!”

Lily looked around, her gaze landing on Qian Qian.

“Has nothing to do with me; I didn’t know about this.” Qian Qian rolled her eyes at her.

The bar fell silent for a moment, and the girls all sighed deeply at the same time.

With internships approaching, a pile of worries came knocking.

“Lily, what’s wrong?” Ning Chu noticed Lily was sighing along with them.

Lily, with her icy facade cracking, lowered her eyes, fiddling with her nails, her tone filled with sorrow: “Next semester, we won’t be able to gather like this anymore…”

“Not a chance! I’m definitely going to stay at school! Why look for internships so early?” Yan Xinya said with a laid-back attitude.

Qian Qian nodded rapidly: “Exactly, I don’t want to work. Sister Lily, take me to graduate school! Fly with me!”

“I… might have to go to Shanghai with Wen Yang.”

Ning Chu suddenly felt a sense of betrayal towards her friends, shrinking her neck and whispering, “We all have to go our separate ways eventually…”

“……”

She forced a smile, trying to comfort them: “How about we set a time to meet each year, like visiting Lily’s house for a few days and soaking in hot springs or something?”

Unknowingly, in this school, she had made a group of close friends.

Three years flew by in the blink of an eye. If Lily hadn’t mentioned it, Ning Chu might have thought they still had a long time to goof off, only now realizing they only had this last month left.

Next semester’s internships would see everyone gradually entering society, making it difficult to gather everyone at the same table again.

“How about a drink?”

Seeing the girls silent, Qian Qian turned around and grabbed two bottles of liquor from the back.

“Did the bed seal you? You’re not late, right?”

When Zhang Shao Qing casually pushed open the bar’s door, he looked inside and saw four girls sprawled on the bar, dazed, including Ning Chu, who usually hated drinking, looking tipsy as well.

He froze in place, scratching his head in confusion: “Why are you all drinking during the day?”
