Chapter 501: Stubbornness Passed Down the Line
As Grandma led Ning Chu and Wen Yang out of the wine storage room, Grandpa just happened to come down the stairs with Mom.
Grandpa, still looking as lean as ever with his graying temples, saw Ning Chu and Wen Yang holding piles of stuff and blew up, “Did a bandit break into our home? What have you taken?!”
Ning Chu glanced at Grandpa, who seemed more spirited than many young people, and thoughtfully looked down at the wine bottle she was holding.
Seems the effect is pretty impressive~ Maybe I should let Wen Yang drink a bit more…
“Anyway, you don’t need it, so why not let the young ones have it?”
Grandma smiled kindly, ruffled Ning Chu’s hair, and whispered, “Make sure Wen Yang doesn’t drink too much, or he’ll get a nosebleed.”
“Hmm…”
No need for reminders, Ning Chu wouldn’t dare let Wen Yang drink too much.
Although the first time she did something like that, Wen Yang was already drugged and feeling all high, he was still a naive little virgin back then, and no matter how good his hardware was, he couldn’t put it to good use.
Now, she had become increasingly sensitive herself, and even in a normal state, Wen Yang could make her feel like she was close to death. A little surprise was enough to leave her obedient and even overload her CPU to the point of fainting.
If he had another drink, would she even be able to get out of bed the next day?
The group arrived in the lobby on the first floor, and Grandpa’s feigned anger quickly vanished as he smiled widely and asked, “What brings you to see this old geezer today? You didn’t even dare come during New Year.”
“When are you planning to leave? You’re not seriously thinking of skipping lunch, are you?”
“In the afternoon, we’ll leave after lunch.” Mom answered while sitting down and turning on the TV.
As soon as Grandma heard this, she headed towards the electric bike, “I’ll go buy groceries; I’ll cook a nice meal for you!”
“Ning Chu likes hamburgers; remember to get her two.”
Grandpa shouted, then asked, “Where’s Ning Xin? Why didn’t she come?”
“On Monday, Ning Xin still has tutoring classes. She’ll be starting school in September.”
Listening to Mom’s answer, Ning Chu noticed that Grandpa seemed particularly fond of Hei Dou, always teasing her whenever she came home.
“Right, how come those two came by on Monday? Aren’t they supposed to be in class?”
“Oh, didn’t that person come back? Ning Chu is worried about me.” Mom said helplessly, pursing her lips, “That’s why they’ll be heading back to school in the afternoon.”
Grandpa agreed and then bent down to pull out a bottle of white liquor from under the coffee table, looking up at Wen Yang.
Mom frowned, “Dad, they need to take a bus back to school this afternoon…”
“I know.”
“So why are you still insisting on having Wen Yang drink with you?”
Grandpa had already filled two small cups with liquor and looked up, puzzled, “When did I ask Wen Yang to drink with me?”
He sighed and shook his head, “You young ones don’t visit me; I can’t even find someone to drink with…”
Wen Yang, understanding the situation, picked up his glass, “Grandpa, I’ll drink with you.”
“Look how sensible he is! Even when you’re at home, what’s stopping you from bringing Ning Xin over to see me? It’s not far~ You’re just busy keeping company with your little boyfriend, aren’t you?”
“……”
Mentioning Uncle, Ning Chu scooted closer to Mom and quietly asked, “Mom, when are you marrying Uncle?”
“Kids shouldn’t meddle in adult matters.”
Her mom gave her a light smack on the head, making her wince in pain.
Grandpa somehow pulled out some pickled shrimp, peanuts, and boneless chicken feet as snacks to go with the liquor, and started drinking with Wen Yang shot after shot.
Ning Chu worried they might end up wanting to bond and become sworn brothers after getting tipsy, which would embarrass her by lowering Wen Yang’s status.
Wouldn’t that be more exciting?
They call him ‘Dad’ often enough…
“Just drinking away.” Mom shook her head in frustration, “Getting drunk during the day is just embarrassing.”
“Drinking some is good for the spirit; what does a kid like you know?!” Grandpa shot her a glare, happily clinking glasses with Wen Yang again, “Come on, drink up.”
“……”
Seeing Mom being called a “kid” by Grandpa made Ning Chu chuckle to herself. Mom glanced at the bottles of liquor and health supplements nearby and lowered her voice.
“By the way, how much did you take from your grandpa?”
“Just a bottle of those assorted wines…”
“Just take half.”
Ning Chu was stunned, looking at her mother like she had a question mark over her head.
“Wen Yang is young and healthy; why do you need to take so much?”
Wow~ So you’re waiting for me?
That uncle, strong like a bear, is he really so drained he can’t take it anymore?
No wonder ‘forty is like a tiger’~ Plus the bonus of succubus traits~
She quickly realized the predicament her mother was facing, her lips curving slightly as she leaned in closer to tease, “Mom~ Is Uncle…”
“Is asking for a beating, huh?”
Mom raised her hand threateningly, and Ning Chu quickly shrank her head, scooting over to sit next to Wen Yang.
It’s so unfair; Mom can joke and tease her freely, but if she jokes back, she gets smacked!
Aren’t they both succubi? What’s there to be shy about~
Ning Chu internally scoffed, glancing at Wen Yang, who was now blushing.
“Drink less.”
Wen Yang’s tolerance was average, and drinking white liquor made her a bit worried.
“I wish I could…” Wen Yang’s face looked like a bitter melon, “I can’t stand white liquor.”
At this moment, the only one who could control Grandpa had gone out to buy vegetables; the others were regarded as clueless kids in Grandpa’s eyes.
With no other options, Ning Chu had to offer some strategy, “Don’t be so honest; you’re really drinking shot for shot? Just pour out a little sneakily…”
“Sure, I’ll try that.”
He agreed verbally, but Wen Yang was too scared to pull any tricks in front of Grandpa, worried about lowering Grandpa’s impression of him.
Less than an hour later, with Grandma still not back from grocery shopping, Wen Yang was already tipsy and nearly close to collapsing.
“You’re not doing well,” Grandpa commented, still eager, “For someone so big, you only drank this little?”
“Grandpa…”
“Mom will definitely say something to you when she gets back.”
“What can she do?!” Grandpa raised his voice, responding emphatically before waving his hand dismissively towards Ning Chu, “Quick, help him up to the third-floor bedroom to lie down; just tell your grandma he didn’t sleep well last night.”
Ning Chu realized that stubbornness was indeed a family trait, passed down through the generations.
From Grandpa to Mom to her, each one was incredibly stubborn; she figured that the great-grandfather she hadn’t met was probably the same.
She asked Wen Yang worriedly, “Can you still walk?”
“I can, just a bit dizzy.”
If he can walk, that’s fine; she couldn’t possibly carry this heavy, unconscious hunk up to the third floor.
Ning Chu struggled to support Wen Yang as they wobbled and carefully made their way up the stairs.
She hated the stench of alcohol, but Wen Yang had a unique masculine scent intertwined with it, which didn’t repel her at all.
Finally reaching the third-floor bedroom, just as they neared the bed, Wen Yang’s legs suddenly gave out, and he crashed onto the bed.
Caught off guard, Ning Chu couldn’t dodge and found half her body pinned under him, letting out a painful yelp.
“What’s wrong with you?!”
“Hey! Don’t grope around!”
“Are you being a pervert because you’re drunk?!”
