Chapter 470. Night
The night grew deeper.
After finishing the afternoon classes and returning to the rental apartment, it was nearly seven o’clock.
Ning Chu yawned at her desk, aimlessly clicking the mouse and staring blankly at the computer screen.
Since what happened at noon, her mood hadn’t been great.
It wasn’t that she was still angry at Wen Yang; she wanted to appear cheerful and lively, but her low spirits dominated her chest and mind, a suffocating feeling lodged in her throat, leaving her unable to muster any energy.
It hadn’t always been like this…
After transforming into a woman, she had become increasingly emotional, and today was particularly severe.
“Still mad, huh?”
Wen Yang, having taken off his outer clothes and shoes, approached with an awkward grin.
“I’m not angry.” Ning Chu sullenly covered her nose. “Go wash your feet! They stink!”
“I’ll go do that now.”
The sound of running water came from the bathroom. She waved her hand to fan her nose and got up to open the windows, letting out Wen Yang’s foot odor.
Lately, Wen Yang often practiced basketball, and after a lot of exercise, his shoes had quite the pungent smell every time he took them off.
Fortunately, Wen Yang was hygienic; he usually went to wash without needing to be told.
“I wonder if Wang Jie has managed to sort things out…”
After washing his feet, Wen Yang sat down at the end of the bed, a hint of worry in his self-talk.
“If he hasn’t, his girlfriend is way harder to handle than me.”
“You don’t even know her, right?”
“She’s pregnant, alright? And Wang Jie is still foolishly running back to class, he’ll be in big trouble.”
“That much is true…” He chuckled, teasing Wang Jie. “That guy is such a deadbeat and clumsy with words; he’s probably having a rough time these days.”
Ning Chu huffed, “Who told him not to wear a condom?”
But from Zhang Shaoqing’s conversation with Wang Jie before they left, it seemed that the rabbit’s girlfriend didn’t allow Wang Jie to take any safety measures…
What a fierce woman! Even as a succubus, she wouldn’t dare to be that reckless.
Though not using protection was indeed more comfortable…
Not wanting to dwell on Wang Jie’s situation, Wen Yang changed the topic, “What do you want to eat tonight?”
“I’m not hungry.”
“Looks like you haven’t had much spirit since this afternoon.”
“I’m just in a bad mood…”
Ning Chu sighed, resting her head on the desk. Clearly, it was time for dinner and to write her novel, but she felt devoid of any motivation, even to drink water, let alone write.
“Why not eat me instead? I can fill you up more!”
She turned back to shot an eye at Wen Yang: “You really took that joke from Xin Ya seriously?”
“Well, not exactly…”
But who could blame him? His girlfriend was indeed a little demoness, and she honestly did complain about being hungry every night, always looking like she wouldn’t be satisfied.
Wen Yang, unable to fathom what Ning Chu was thinking, stood up and said, “I’ll go buy dinner. You should eat something; it’s not good for your stomach to skip meals.”
“Mm.”
She responded dismissively, still not lifting her head, listening as Wen Yang opened the door and stepped out, his footsteps fading down the hallway.
She got up, intending to splash some water on her face to freshen up, but the phone sitting on the desk vibrated.
Glancing at the screen, she answered the call.
“Hello, Brother?”
Rarely, this time the call was from her brother Ning Yuan.
Although the two siblings generally had a decent relationship, they only managed to talk about five times last semester, unlike their mother, who regularly called once or twice a week.
Now, Hei Dou was even worse, calling for a video chat every night to “collect debts” from Ning Chu.
“Ning Chu, are you coming back for May Day?”
Hearing her brother’s voice, Ning Chu tried to sound more spirited, not wanting him to notice her down mood: “I probably won’t come back? I made plans to go out with classmates.”
“Oh~ It’s fine if you don’t come back; at least I can sleep in my room.” Her brother suddenly changed his tune. “By the way, why is mom dropping by my rental place every few days? She hasn’t been pestering me to find a girlfriend lately.”
“Huh?”
“Did you tell her something?”
Ning Chu was momentarily stunned, almost forgetting about it.
But she quickly recalled, her tone lightening, stammering: “I accidentally let it slip… It’s nothing serious, my sister-in-law is quite pretty; mom wouldn’t object, right?”
“Yeah, she wouldn’t disagree, but she keeps coming over; who can handle that?”
“Isn’t that just her caring for you? Besides, mom can help tidy up and do some chores~”
“Please don’t…,” her brother sighed in distress. “I might just have to move.”
Ning Chu silently listened until her brother asked, “How have you been lately? That Wen Yang kid isn’t bullying you, right?”
“Well… yes! He’s bullied me today!”
Upon hearing this, her brother reacted intensely: “What! I’ll break his legs today!”
“You can’t beat him.”
He quickly calmed down and asked, “How did he bully you? Did you get into a fight?”
“Brother, you’re really just afraid of tough guys, huh~” Ning Chu teased, then complained, “He borrowed two thousand five hundred from my classmate without asking me; it’s not a big deal.”
“That’s his own money…”
“Isn’t his money my money? Beat him! Make him spend my money!”
Her brother was left speechless.
They weren’t even married yet! Was this already counting as shared property?
They chatted for barely ten minutes when Wen Yang pushed open the door and returned.
From a distance in the hallway, he could hear Ning Chu complaining to her brother about the day’s events.
So she really was still mad…
She was so stubborn, even when angry, trying to act indifferent to avoid him thinking she was petty or sentimental.
“I’m hanging up; I want to eat dinner now.”
As Ning Chu finished speaking, a bottle of ice-cold cola was placed in front of her.
“Here’s your cola.”
“I guess it’s about that time for my period…” she mumbled but still picked up the cola and took a large gulp, “What did you buy? Just let me taste it.”
“Fast food, and some seasoned bones.”
A few fast food containers were opened, and the aroma of the seasoned bones drew Ning Chu’s attention.
One minute ago, she hadn’t felt much hunger, but as soon as she sniffed that delicious scent, a strong emptiness surged from deep within her, and her stomach audibly grumbled.
“I’ll just have a taste…” Ning Chu put on disposable gloves and grabbed the seasoned bones to nibble.
She cleaned the meat that was easy to eat off the bones, leaving the harder-to-nibble bits aside before lazily stretching, getting up to wash her face, then collapsed onto her bed.
Wen Yang didn’t mind that she had munched on the seasoned bones; he ate while asking, “What were you chatting about with your brother?”
“Just asking if I’d come back for May Day.”
Yawning and lying on her bed, Ning Chu pulled the quilt over her exposed belly to avoid catching a chill.
She fiddled with her phone, scrolling through short videos one after another, but none seemed to catch her attention for more than three seconds.
Until a shadow fell over her as she lay at the head of the bed.
“What’s up?”
Ning Chu glanced at Wen Yang standing beside her bed, his tall frame blocking the light and casting her half in shadow.
“I’m sincerely apologizing to you.”
“I already said I’m not mad anymore…” she muttered, but her gaze couldn’t help but drift toward Wen Yang beneath her, her eyes flickering but still focused. “Plus, it’s still early; I haven’t even taken a shower.”
“Don’t touch me, okay? So annoying, hey!”
In just a few minutes, the little demoness, who had initially resisted, now had her legs wrapped around Wen Yang’s arm. The annoyed expression had transformed into a lovely shade of pink, her eyes glimmering with tears, and her breath coming in quickened bursts.
“Quickly~”
Indeed, that kind of pressure brought immense joy! The heaviness in her heart faded completely!
