Chapter 466

Chapter 468. In a Fit of Anger

Having borrowed some money, Wang Jie was all set to head out.

Since he wasn’t sure how long he’d be staying at his girlfriend’s place, he pulled out a suitcase to start packing.

He was moving slowly, taking his sweet time over every piece of clothing, as if deciding what to take with him, then paused in front of his computer, contemplating whether or not to bring his laptop.

Ning Chu couldn’t watch anymore.

She strode over, shoved Wang Jie aside, glanced at the half-packed suitcase, reached into the wardrobe and grabbed a handful of clothes, yanked the laptop off its power source, stuffed everything into the suitcase, slammed the lid down, zipped it up, and handed it to Wang Jie.

“Alright, let’s go.”

Ning Chu’s brisk actions startled Wang Jie, leaving him a bit dazed. “Huh?”

“Hurry up! Get out!”

She kicked him in the backside. “Pay back Wen Yang’s money soon! And resolve your girlfriend issue!”

Wang Jie jumped at the kick but still wore a face full of hesitation and shrinking.

Just then, Wen Yang came over, clamped a hand on his shoulder, and pushed him out of the dorm. “Go charm your girlfriend already.”

After pushing Wang Jie out, Wen Yang turned back and asked, “Is that good enough?”

“Should be…”

People like Wang Jie, who avoided tasks and was always hesitating, needed a kick in the pants to prompt action. If he spent too long considering, he’d likely back out halfway.

It wasn’t that Wang Jie didn’t like his girlfriend; it was just his personality.

To keep this guy from pondering too long on the way, Ning Chu turned to Zhang Shaoqing: “You drive him to the station and buy the soonest ticket?”

“You really are a control freak.” Zhang Shaoqing yawned as he dug out his car keys. “I’ll just drive him straight to his girlfriend’s school. Wen Yang, you owe me a favor in the afternoon.”

“That works best~”

“Ugh, my laboring life~”

Zhang Shaoqing complained as he hurried out the dorms, and indeed, the moment he opened the door, he found Wang Jie still standing there, hesitating.

He hooked an arm around Wang Jie’s neck and pulled him downstairs, trying to ease his worries with a cheeky smile. “You don’t want Ning Chu to look down on you, do you? Let’s go! Deal with the mess you made; you wanted to have fun, so now face the consequences.”

“I want to face it too…”

“Your bunny girlfriend is that fierce? Doesn’t show her true colors, huh~”

“…”

“Hey, that bunny girl isn’t going to pop out several little bunnies, is she? How are you going to manage that?”

“I hope not… Don’t call her bunny girl…”

“Tsk tsk, if you don’t talk her down this time, in a couple of years, you might end up with a whole soccer team.”

Watching Zhang Shaoqing and Wang Jie stroll down the stairs with shoulders together, Ning Chu pulled her head back into the dorm.

Several guys in the hallway had already noticed a girl mingling in the male dorm, but this wasn’t too surprising, so no one made a fuss.

The management of the boys’ dorm wasn’t as strict as that of the girls’.

“Now it’s all up to Wang Jie,” Wen Yang said, sitting in front of Zhang Shaoqing’s computer, before turning to ask, “Are you worried about anything?”

“Not really…”

Ning Chu averted her gaze, trying to dodge Wen Yang’s stare.

The words “feeling guilty” were practically written across her face; she was attempting to hide her emotions, yet they were practically on full display—adorable yet clumsy.

Wen Yang didn’t pry further, patiently opening up Zhang Shaoqing’s game library.

Though Zhang Shaoqing was a joker, his game library was quite serious, with only one adult game, a catgirl game, that was way less innocent than Ning Chu’s collection, which was filled with shared games featuring Lily.

As for Wen Yang, his library was all free games, the kind you get for signing up or giveaways, all based on free-loading.

After only ten minutes, the Little Demoness couldn’t wait any longer. She plopped down beside Wen Yang, anxiously asking, “You lent Wang Jie two thousand five hundred all at once… he won’t just refuse to pay it back, right?”

“How could that be?”

“Why wouldn’t it be!”

With no one else around, Ning Chu raised her voice, disgruntled as she grumbled, “When I was in high school, I couldn’t even afford to eat, and I borrowed hundreds from friends, still haven’t paid them back to this day!”

Wen Yang looked at her, somewhat stunned. “Didn’t your mom give you money?”

Isn’t this what she was talking about before her reincarnation…?

“The point is my deadbeat friend!”

Ning Chu fidgeted, twisting the cotton strings of her jacket’s hood into little knots. “Wang Jie only needed two thousand; you were so generous to give him an extra five hundred… He could easily ask his family for money, so why does he have to borrow from you? It’s like you’re loaded or something.”

“If he doesn’t pay it back, so what?”

“Easy for you to say! You only made that much money working over the winter break, and it’s all gone now! You’re not hurting, but I’m hurting!”

Though they had shared a dorm with Wang Jie for several months, Ning Chu always prepared herself for the possibility of lending money, knowing it often meant never seeing it again.

With everyone present earlier, she couldn’t say much, so she just watched Wen Yang flaunt his generosity gifting the cash.

This guy probably thought he looked so cool when lending money; he might just end up looking like a fool!

“It’s fine, Wang Jie’s not that kind of person,” Wen Yang chuckled. “If he defaults, at least we’ll know what kind of person he is and lessen future losses.”

Ning Chu glared at him, cheeks puffed up. “It’s fine if it’s just a few hundred, but this much… You’ll only realize the pain after you take the hit!”

“I was wrong, I was wrong! Next time, I’ll consult with you first before lending money.”

They rarely argued, and whenever a dispute began, Wen Yang would hastily back down, leaving Ning Chu unsure of where to vent her frustration.

With a tight-lipped expression, she frowned, turning and storming out of the dorm.

“Where are you going?” Wen Yang quickly got up to follow.

“Going to the girls’ dorm! Lily said she’d help me with my nails, and I want to check on that octopus too.” Ning Chu coldly retorted as she pushed open the door, “Why are you following me?”

“Then I’ll go and reflect on my mistakes?”

She turned to gaze at Wen Yang’s awkward grin, unsure if her boy was actually recognizing his faults or just pretending to apologize because she was upset.

“Remember to take out the trash when you leave.”

She casually reminded him before striding out, slamming the door behind her.

Wen Yang helplessly returned to Zhang Shaoqing’s computer.

Involving money made Ning Chu’s temper flared more than ever; in the past, as long as he admitted mistakes and joked around a bit, she would be laughing in no time. However, this time, his usual tactics just wouldn’t work.

He ruffled his hair in frustration, losing interest in the game on the screen.

He definitely should have thought this through more…
