Chapter 437. Sick
Excluding a small portion, the private lives of most succubi tend to be rather chaotic, and each time there’s a crackdown, a few habitual offenders always get caught.
They change partners as easily as swapping clothes, partake in group activities, and have torn pants… When men mention succubi, their impressions are usually far from favorable.
Yet, if given the chance to experience them, I bet no one would refuse.
Now, in a classroom, two succubi were causing quite the scandal, which was indeed a bit strange.
Ning Chu could feel Zhang Shaoqing and Wang Jie’s gazes lingering on her; she could do nothing but pray that that thick-skinned guy would get the hint and stop trying to make a move on her.
Lazily, she lay slumped on her desk, occasionally sniffing hard, feeling increasingly weak and oddly cold.
Her breath brushed past her upper lip, faintly registering a scorching temperature.
Thank goodness this world didn’t have COVID; otherwise, she’d be worried about testing positive.
“Finally, class is over!” Yan Xinya stretched lazily and jumped up, “What’s the next class? Lily, let’s go grab something to eat at the cafeteria!”
“Mm.”
Lily elegantly stood up, daintily holding her skirt, and absentmindedly followed Yan Xinya out of the classroom.
“Ning Chu?”
At this moment, Wen Yang gently poked the slumped Ning Chu on the desk: “Don’t lie down, class is over.”
“Wen Yang… not feeling so well.”
“Not feeling well?”
Her delicate and charming face lifted, but her beautiful eyes were half-closed, revealing a look of exhaustion, her face unusually flushed, looking pitifully sick.
He froze for a moment and instinctively tested her forehead with the back of his hand: “You have a fever! Just now you were only sneezing, right?”
“Mm…” Ning Chu weakly continued to rest on her desk and after sneezing, mumbled, “Feeling a bit cold.”
Wen Yang didn’t hesitate, directly taking off his jacket and draping it over Ning Chu: “I’ll take you to the infirmary.”
“Is that necessary?”
“A visit will ease your mind.”
Clearly, she caught a chill from being out in the rain last night.
He helped Ning Chu to her feet, carefully buttoning up the coat wrapped around her: “How about now? Still cold?”
“Not sure~”
Her legs felt wobbly as she rested her head on his shoulder, clutching the corner of his clothing.
“What’s up? You were just so lively.” Zhang Shaoqing leaned in curiously.
“She’s running a slight fever; I’m taking her to the infirmary.”
“Need help?”
“No need.”
Although she indeed felt weak all over, a slight fever didn’t require someone to support her. Yet, seeing Wen Yang so concerned made Ning Chu reluctant to appear too energetic.
Besides, in front of Wen Yang, she didn’t want to show just how strong she could be.
Comfortably nestled in Wen Yang’s embrace, she slowly made her way to the infirmary.
Inside, the doctor was the same one from last semester. Upon seeing the pair of tall and short figures, he couldn’t help but tease: “How many times has this been? School just started and you’re here again.”
Ning Chu had already visited several times since fainting during military training last year, each time seeing this doctor.
He had practically watched their relationship grow from awkward to familiar, and now quite affectionate.
Every visit seemed to show new developments.
“Teacher, she seems to have a bit of a fever.”
“Come, let’s check your temperature.” The doctor pulled out a thermometer from a pen holder and handed it over, “Stick it under your armpit, hold it steady. I’ll call you when it’s ready.”
“Mm.”
Wen Yang lowered his head to unbutton Ning Chu’s coat, carefully placing the thermometer under her armpit.
Ning Chu, looking weak, let him fiddle with it.
“What are your symptoms?”
“Fever, runny nose, congestion; I probably caught a bit of rain last night.”
“Let her speak.”
Only then did Ning Chu lift her head, feeling her body’s response, and continued, “Not much strength, my throat is a bit sore.”
She could clearly see the teasing glint in the doctor’s eyes, feeling somewhat awkward, and sat up straight.
“Thermometer.”
She obediently handed over the thermometer from her armpit.
“No big issues. I’ll prescribe you some medicine; take it after meals.”
While the doctor was getting the medicine, he quipped to Wen Yang: “Can’t believe such a beautiful girlfriend isn’t being taken care of properly, letting her catch a cold in the rain.”
“When I first saw her, she looked like a tomboy, and in just half a year, she’s blossomed! You’ve got yourself quite the bargain~”
This doctor was a bit chatty; probably not many people visited, and he had a lot to say.
Wen Yang awkwardly smiled and nodded.
Not only was she more refined now, but who would have thought she was a succubus?
After getting the medicine, nearly ten minutes had already passed in class.
As Ning Chu was helped out of the infirmary, she couldn’t help but grumble, “This doctor talks too much…”
Though he hadn’t made fun of her, as the person involved, she still felt a bit embarrassed.
“It’s not bad,” Wen Yang suggested, shivering slightly from the cold wind in just a thin sweater, “How about you take a leave and rest this morning?”
“I want to sleep in class~ it’s more comfortable sleeping in the daytime.”
The rain still hadn’t stopped, the air chilly and damp, but wrapped in Wen Yang’s jacket, leaning on him, Ning Chu felt no cold at all.
In fact, she even felt a bit warm.
The two made their way back to the classroom, only to find the teacher absent, and just a chaotic group of students inside.
Lily took out her pet octopus from her bag, and the cute little pink octopus in the transparent cup attracted a crowd of girls.
“Where did you buy this? It’s so adorable!”
“Why isn’t it moving at all?”
“Can we take it out to play with?”
Though Lily maintained her cool expression, she couldn’t hide the pride in her eyes.
Hearing footsteps approach, she turned her head, her gaze sweeping through the crowd around the octopus, and spotted Ning Chu and Wen Yang walking toward her.
“No way.” She refused verbally and hurriedly stuffed the cup back into her jacket pocket as if protecting some treasure.
“What’s all this noise about?”
Wen Yang asked out of curiosity.
“Lily has an ultra-cute octopus!”
The girls, still buzzing with excitement, immediately leaned forward to show off. The sickly Ning Chu perked up, straightened her back, and shot a glare at one of the girls, instantly scattering them back to their desks.
“Where did you two go just now?” Yan Xinya asked curiously.
“Just got some medicine for Ning Chu; she’s not well.”
“Oh~ the jealous mood you were in earlier didn’t seem to indicate you were sick~”
Ning Chu twitched a little at the corners of her mouth, pretending not to hear as she took her seat: “Where’s the teacher? Class should have started by now.”
“Not sure…” Yan Xinya looked down at her phone, just receiving a message from the counselor, “An An says the teacher has something to attend to; this class has been rescheduled for this Saturday at 8 AM.”
“Just got notified now…”
She muttered, casting her gaze at Lily, not expecting this girl to be so fond of that little octopus, even bringing it along.
I wonder if Black Cat has selected a magical girl yet? If not, I might just have to step up myself.
I must check the identity of that octopus soon! We can’t let Lily get ambushed by her own pet one day and end up in some tentacle play!
