Chapter 431

Chapter 433. Sign the Contract! Girl!

“What are you guys doing?”

Ning Chu looked at the three girls squatting in a circle on the ground, suddenly unsure of the situation.

The three of them turned in unison to look at her. Yan Xinya, with wolf ears on her head, brightened up and waved at her, “What are you doing here?”

“Quick, come see what Lily found!”

“Found?”

Ning Chu casually closed the door and walked over, leaning in to see what was in the middle of the three girls.

On the ground was a small octopus crawling around, with big, shiny eyes and a pair of seemingly elephant-like ears on its head. Its skin was a soft pink and somewhat translucent, and it was smaller than a ping-pong ball, looking adorably cute as if it had just stepped out of a 2D world.

She blinked, hesitating as she recalled an eating broadcast video: “Little Dumbo Octopus?”

This kind of octopus is said to be a decorative one that many people like to keep, but she recognized it from a food video… although it didn’t quite look the same, as the octopus in the video didn’t have such long tentacles.

“What is that?”

Yan Xinya tilted her head, noticing the small octopus trying to inch closer to her, and picked up a disposable chopstick, pushing it back again.

“Um, it’s a really cute kind of octopus that a lot of people keep.”

“This is what Lily picked up! She said it suddenly fell from the sky.” The wolf girl leaned on her knees, looking down at the pink little octopus, deep in thought, “Is it tasty?”

“Fell from the sky?”

Ning Chu’s eyelids twitched.

“Maybe someone abandoned it?” Lin Li stuck out her tongue, licking her lips, “What do you think is tastier, iron plate grilled or boiled with garlic soy sauce?”

“So tempting~ Iron plate grilled?”

Yan Xinya and Lin Li, the two dog-like girls, began discussing how to cook it.

Ning Chu looked worriedly at the little octopus. This can’t be a mere coincidence, right?

The tentacle monsters described in the books were indeed the kind with suckers, but this cute, pink little octopus seemed nothing like them.

Tentacle monsters were dark and twisted, enemies wrapped in sticky liquids, while this little octopus was just adorably harmless.

“No way.”

Just as Yan Xinya was preparing to heat up a frying pan, Lily suddenly grabbed her clothes and firmly refused.

“Why not?”

Ning Chu was taken aback.

Oh no! This succubus isn’t really planning to keep the tentacle monster as a toy, is she?

“Let it grow a bit bigger, it’ll be tastier.” Lily said earnestly, “It’s too small, no meat.”

“…”

“So how do we raise it?” Yan Xinya squatted back down, continuing to poke at the small octopus.

Lin Li eagerly ran back with a full clear cup of water, using chopsticks to drop the octopus into the cup: “There, isn’t that enough? It’ll look good in the dorm!”

“True~”

As soon as the octopus entered the chlorinated tap water, its tentacles started to twitch, struggling to escape, but Lin Li pressed it down with the cup lid and twisted it tight, sealing it perfectly.

“…”

Ning Chu increasingly didn’t know what to say.

Although she didn’t know if this octopus was a tentacle monster, it definitely seemed inappropriate to keep an octopus in tap water.

“What does it eat?” Lily asked worriedly.

“There must be octopus food sold online!” Yan Xinya eagerly opened a shopping app, “Once it grows big, we can grill it! It’ll definitely taste great.”

“Boiling it will bring out the original flavor!” Lin Li countered, “Grilling is too overpowering; eating seafood like that is a waste!”

Lily thought for a moment and suggested, “Just cut it in half.”

“Wonder how big it can grow… will it survive?”

“We can cook it when it’s about to die.”

Ning Chu observed the octopus in the clear cup; after its initial intense struggles, it now settled at the bottom, looking so lethargic as if it had lost all will to live.

But as a food ingredient, nobody seemed to care about its current state.

She took out her phone and sent a text to Qian Qian: “When you finish your stuff over there, come by here. I’ve got something to discuss.”

She wanted Qian Qian to come and assess it, to prevent Lily from mistakenly thinking she could keep a tentacle monster as a pet.

It might be harmless now as a child, but when it grows up, the entire girls’ dormitory would be in trouble!

As the initial curiosity about the octopus fizzled out, the girls dispersed to do their own things.

Lily placed the cup with the octopus on a shelf as a decoration and then turned to Ning Chu, her big eyes shining with confusion and realization.

They said not to go out at night because of the tentacle monsters, and yet here she was, running out herself.

Sure enough, it was just to scare someone; only that Husky would believe it.

“I’m kind of in a hurry…” Ning Chu sat down next to Lily, thinking back to how she had told Lily about the tentacle monster earlier, and then leaned close to whisper, “There’s a tentacle monster in the school, and I really suspect it’s the one in the cup.”

Lily looked up at the little octopus: “You bought it yourself.”

“No, I’m serious!”

She looked disdainfully at Ning Chu and even grabbed the cup, shoving it into a drawer: “Mine.”

“I wasn’t fighting you for it…”

“Ning Chu! You came all this way in such heavy rain! Are you planning to sleep in the dorm tonight?!” Yan Xinya jumped over, locking her arms around Ning Chu’s shoulders from behind, “Now that you’ve come, you can’t leave!”

“Staying again?” Lin Li said with a face full of disdain, turning her head away, “Shameless.”

“This is also Ning Chu’s dorm~ If you’re not happy, go tell An An!”

The dorm door was lightly knocked on, causing Lin Li to swallow her quarreling words, stand up to open the door, and saw a stranger with red hair and twin pigtails outside.

“Who are you?”

“My friend! She came to see the octopus!”

Ning Chu turned her head to explain, but Lin Li was more focused on the black cat on Qian Qian’s shoulder, staring at the cat endlessly.

“Lily, bring the octopus to the balcony to talk.”

“???”

Lily, clueless, was pulled by Ning Chu to the balcony. She hugged the cup in her hands, looking puzzled at the two girls and a cat before her.

The balcony door was closed, and Yan Xinya, who was trying to eavesdrop inside, suddenly felt drowsy and yawned, leaning against the windowsill.

“Girl! Would you like to sign a contract with me? To become a noble, world-saving magical girl!”

Before Ning Chu could ask, the black cat began to lure: “You can fulfill a simple wish, gain powerful strength to help the weak, and…”

Lily shook her head coldly, not even showing any fear at the talking cat.

She simply fell to the ground, her legs giving way, and she slumped down against the tiled wall.

“No, first see if this octopus is evil!” Ning Chu interrupted the black cat, squatting down to comfort Lily, “It’s okay, it’s not a bad guy, probably…”

The black cat jumped down from Qian Qian’s shoulder, walking closer, its green eyes locking onto the octopus in the cup.

“I don’t know~”

“Ah?”

“I have no contract with that evil thing, how would I know?”

Ning Chu was astonished and asked, “Then didn’t you guys search around the school?”

“Yeah, we did a thorough check and didn’t find any evil beings.” Qian Qian remarked, “So why are you in such a hurry to drag us out?”

So you two are relying entirely on your eyes to judge?!

“Girl~ Do you want to sign a contract with me?”

The black cat continued to entice Lily.

“Don’t listen to it!”

Quite cute, but according to Xiao Wen Ge, not tasty.
