Chapter 430

Chapter 432. Actually, I’m Really Strong

A sudden downpour enveloped the city.

The relentless rain dimmed the lights on campus, making the night even darker; corners that were once vaguely visible now seemed as deep as ink. Students scattered, leaving the streets eerily quiet.

Lily, blushing with embarrassment, clutched several packs of sanitary pads as she stood in front of the cashier at the supermarket, feeling awkward in front of the cashier girl.

“I… I’d like to check out.”

Although she was a succubus and played around in secret, she still felt a strong sense of shame just buying sanitary pads.

The sound of rain caught her attention, and she turned to look outside at the splashes on the ground and the deepening night. Suddenly, Ning Chu’s warning echoed in her mind.

A strong, murderous criminal? A tentacle monster?

Honestly, she didn’t believe any of it.

But she was afraid of the dark… and regretted stepping out at night.

“The rain suddenly intensified,” the student cashier complained. “How can it rain so heavily in spring?”

“Yeah…”

With the sanitary pads packed in a black bag, Lily opened her umbrella and hesitated under the supermarket’s eaves.

Could there really be a tentacle monster out there?

She anxiously scanned the dark corners, tightening her legs and subconsciously wrapping her arms around her chest.

A hint of anticipation bubbled up within her…

But Lily quickly pushed that feeling out of her mind. Despite being a bit naive, she wasn’t foolish.

The tentacle monsters in doujinshi were already heavy and creepy; a three-dimensional one in reality would probably make her lose her sanity at first sight.

“They’re just tricks, just tricks…”

After mumbling a few times, Lily finally braved opening her umbrella and stepped into the rain.

It was only just past nine in the evening, and the buses were still running.

Ning Chu anxiously clung to Wen Yang’s arm, resting her head on her boyfriend’s shoulder while nervously glancing out at the night through the bus window.

If she could, she absolutely wanted to avoid a confrontation with a tentacle monster!

She was already the protagonist of this story; she didn’t want to end up being the incubator for a tentacle monster!

But this whole thing was her own wild imagination… Although she felt she wasn’t really responsible, the mere thought of possibly many girls being tormented by tentacle monsters filled her with guilt.

Wen Yang, who usually feared ghosts and monsters, was now surprisingly calm, a gentle smile on his face as he held her small hand, trying to convey some sense of security.

With Wen Yang around, plus the magical girl to protect her… she had nothing to fear.

Sitting in the back, Qian Qian stood up, resting her arms on the back of the seat and peering down at her head. “Don’t worry! Newly summoned evil beings are really weak, weak enough that you can stomp on them with one kick. Otherwise, they wouldn’t possess humans.”

“Your horns are so cute~ Can I touch them?” Her eyes were drawn to the two small horns that curved backward from either side, itching to reach out.

“You can touch the tips… but don’t go lower.”

Upon hearing Qian Qian’s words, Ning Chu felt a bit relieved. As she felt a hand gently touching her horn, she asked, “So how long will the evil being stay hidden before causing trouble?”

“About a year? Plus, that evil being doesn’t even have a master yet, so we can’t find its location.”

So, it would be a year before the tentacle monster subplot from the book even started?

“Is that so… then why are you two in such a hurry?”

Ning Chu immediately felt a wave of relief as her tense face finally broke into a smile.

The Black Cat jumped onto Qian Qian’s shoulder and rolled its eyes. “Aren’t you the one who dragged us both out?”

“Since we’re already here, tonight, Qian Qian and I will do a thorough search around the school! With this heavy rain, that evil being probably won’t find a suitable host!”

“And while we’re at it, we’ll look for a suitable girl to sign a contract~ Are you really not considering it?”

The Black Cat tried to entice Ning Chu. “You can make a simple wish, gain a strong body, and acquire magical powers that can do anything!”

Ning Chu paused, her eyes flickering.

If she really became a magical girl… if Wen Yang ever got carried away and was ruthless, she could transform at the moment she felt faint and strike him back!

But then she thought about the disastrous outcome of failing to fight a tentacle monster, and her face paled.

“Absolutely not!”

She firmly rejected again.

If she didn’t know that all the evil beings were tentacle monsters, she might have agreed naïvely, just like Qian Qian did under the Black Cat’s persuasion, driven by a sense of justice.

“Ning Chu, you should go back first,” Wen Yang advised, “The rain is so heavy; don’t get involved, or you’ll catch a cold.”

“I…”

“You all go back! Don’t be in the way!”

Ning Chu turned to look at Qian Qian and saw her blushing face, instantly understanding that the magical girl planned to put on her battle attire and magically search for the newly summoned tentacle monster.

In that case, she would only be a hindrance; she also didn’t want Wen Yang to see Qian Qian dressed like that.

“Then I’ll just swing by Lily’s dorm, and we can leave together.”

“Sure! What’s your number?”

After exchanging contact information, the bus conveniently arrived at their stop.

Holding up her umbrella as she got off, Ning Chu noticed that the heavy rain had turned into a light drizzle.

Was the heavy rain an anomaly caused by the tentacle’s arrival?

I wonder if it rained when I crossed over to this world.

“Should I also swing by the dorm?” Wen Yang got off after her, standing beside her with a smile. “I haven’t been back in a while. Let me walk you to the girls’ dorm.”

“Okay.”

“Don’t worry too much; there’s still a year.” He glanced at Qian Qian, who was already walking toward the school gate, and continued, “Besides, there’s only one magical girl in the plot; this time there are two, so it should be an easy fix in a year.”

Ning Chu muttered, “Just thinking about a tentacle monster lurking in the school makes me feel uneasy.”

It just felt so unsafe…

She closed her umbrella and tucked herself under Wen Yang’s while wrapping her arm around his. “I hope Qian Qian finds it. I wonder which fool will get tricked by the Black Cat.”

The magical girl’s powers came from tentacle monsters, and it seemed that once the tentacle monster reached its peak condition, the magical girl looked like she wouldn’t stand a chance.

So I’m actually really strong too? Just that my power is hidden inside, yet to be awakened?

Ning Chu gazed at her delicate little hand in confusion.

Superman! Kamen Rider! Armored Warrior! Ultraman!

The soul of a middle-schooler began to burn fiercely! Her imagination kicked in, picturing herself defeating little monsters and saving girls, with them gazing at her in admiration.

After Wen Yang accompanied her to the entrance of the girls’ dorm, Ning Chu finally shook off her middle-schooler fantasies.

A goose would probably chase her down and beat her up…

“I’ll call you when I get back!”

“Okay.”

As she raised her hand to temporarily say goodbye to Wen Yang, Ning Chu turned and dashed into the building, quickly making her way to Lily’s dorm. Without knocking, she pushed the door open.

Upon entering, she found three girls sitting on the floor in a circle, all looking up at her in unison.

“What are you all doing?”

Ning Chu paused in the doorway, her face a mix of confusion.
