Chapter 395. Steal Home! 1/12
When class ended at six, the sky had darkened, and the school’s streetlights were already lit.
Ning Chu once again declined Zhang Shaoqing’s invitation for dinner and karaoke, took a turn with Wen Yang, and left the flow of students heading back to the dormitory, walking toward the school gate.
“Wang Jie! Are you going?”
“If my girlfriend finds out, I’ll be dead…”
“Damn! Then I’ll go hang out with Qian Qian!”
From behind came the sound of a grumbling face, but Ning Chu couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly.
With her giving Qian Qian advice, he had a ninety percent chance of not being able to ask her out.
However, she wasn’t sure if Zhang Shaoqing and Qian Qian were a good match. Setting aside that grumbling guy’s unique XP, their ages differed quite a bit; even if they did end up together, it would likely be hard for their parents to accept.
“What do you want to eat tonight?” Wen Yang asked, wrapping his warm hand around Ning Chu’s icy little hand, “Should we cook ourselves or order takeout?”
“Let’s order takeout; there’s not even a smoking machine at home. What can we make?”
“Career planning… Wen Yang, what do you think I should do in the future?”
Having just finished a career planning class, Ning Chu couldn’t help but feel a bit lost about her future.
Although she had confidence in Wen Yang, besides being a time traveler and having once been a man, she had no confidence in her future work prospects.
She didn’t even know what she could do.
“Write your novel, right? Aren’t there a lot of readers?”
“There used to be quite a few… now I can only scrape by with full attendance.” She wore a wistful expression, “I don’t even know what to write for the next book; I’ve already finished my autobiography.”
Wen Yang smiled and asked, “Didn’t you tell me not to think too much about the future? The more you think, the more frustrated you get. How come you started doing that?”
Ning Chu looked up at him, her eyes sparkling: “You’re different; you’re my main character~ you must be good at everything!”
“I’m not good…” That sparkle quickly faded, and the Little Demoness murmured gloomily, “I can’t even play games well, writing novels could starve me, and my studies are half-hearted.”
“But you’re my author; how could you possibly be worse than me?”
“Eh~ Easy to say, easy to say…”
“Don’t worry, just do what you want to do. I’ll handle the money problems in the future.”
Ning Chu shot Wen Yang a glance and then suddenly broke into a smile: “Then I’ll be a shut-in vase at home! The kind that doesn’t do any chores!”
“Okay.”
“Then I’ll get bored to death in a few days.”
“Ah—” She sighed dramatically, “When will my novel be adapted into a manga or TV drama~ then I won’t have to worry about food for the rest of my life~”
As the two chatted, they arrived at the bus stop outside the school. Ning Chu leaned against Wen Yang’s chest, eagerly watching the end of the road, waiting for the bus.
With Wen Yang’s hands resting on her waist, she suddenly recalled her conversation with Yan Xinya in the afternoon.
Her monthly visitor had indeed arrived late this month.
Though she was accustomed to female life, compared to those original girls, she really wasn’t sensitive enough in that area; if Yan Xinya hadn’t reminded her, she probably wouldn’t have noticed at all.
Ning Chu frowned; according to her usual cycle, it was estimated it should have come three to five days ago.
But today, her lower abdomen was still quite calm.
However, it should be pretty normal for it to be a few days late, right?
She searched online and affirmed, “Yeah, totally normal.”
“The bus is here.”
Before the doors opened, a surge of thirty passengers at the bus stop began moving toward the entrance.
Everyone was young and strong students, so no one was giving way.
“Wen Yang! Get in! Go grab a seat for me!”
Wen Yang, tall and lanky, entered the crowd like a wolf into a sheep pen, instantly parting the masses as he was the first to board when the doors opened, securing a double seat in the back.
He turned to look out the window at Ning Chu, who was still outside, anxiously bouncing on her toes.
Then a faint scent wafted into his nose, and he paused for a moment, glancing at the girl beside him with a furrowed brow.
“Someone’s sitting here.”
The girl looked a little nervous, meeting his gaze, clutching her phone tightly: “Uh, can I have your WeChat?”
“No way!!!”
With a loud voice, Ning Chu, who had just been outside, suddenly appeared in the bus, darting from the front to the back, frantically rushing over.
The girl was so startled by her demeanor that her face turned pale, and she hurriedly got up to vacate the seat, awkwardly moving away.
Ning Chu finally sat down, breathing heavily. She used her fingertips to smooth her somewhat messy hair, only to lift her head and see Wen Yang smiling broadly.
“What are you laughing at?”
“I just saw you struggling to get in from outside, and then in the blink of an eye, you charged in.”
“Do you think I wouldn’t panic when I saw a bad woman sitting next to you?!”
She noticed that all the passengers in the bus had turned their attention to her, causing her face to flush, and she quickly lowered her head, murmuring softly, “What are you looking at? Never seen the main character taking care of a bad woman?”
“The main character…”
“No concubines; don’t get your hopes up!”
Wen Yang chuckled: “Just one of you is enough for me; why would I think about others?”
“Well, who’s to say…?”
And who’s not to say! What nonsense is this!
Ning Chu yawned, too lazy to argue about anything more. She turned to glare at the bad woman who had just tried to chat her up, then leaned against Wen Yang’s shoulder.
If she wasn’t careful, her home could have been stolen!
Not that she was particularly pretty, where did she get the confidence to steal my man~
Though Wen Yang would definitely refuse, she couldn’t help but feel her tension spike whenever she saw a pretty stranger flirting, anxious that she might trigger the storyline’s female antagonist.
What if it was an inescapable plot, similar to when Wen Yang was drugged at a dinner party…
Ning Chu couldn’t guarantee that every time she’d be the kind-hearted girl who could wash her hands clean and deliver herself to the table.
After several stops, the bus arrived at the village where their rental apartment was located.
Ning Chu and Wen Yang got off first, turning to see four or five other students from nearby rentals exiting through the back door.
There were a few food stalls at the village entrance. The village, which had been a bit quiet yesterday, was bustling today due to the start of school.
“Want a sausage?”
Passing by a food stall, Ning Chu caught a whiff of the grilled sausage and her stomach protested with a growl.
“Don’t you usually eat enough?”
That teasing comment made her ears burn; she shot Wen Yang an annoyed glare: “You’re paying!”
“Should I treat you to dinner instead?”
Her face turned even redder, sneaking a guilty glance around, she lowered her voice: “People will hear!”
“No one’s around; don’t worry.”
“There’s a vampire over there! They’ll definitely hear!”
She pointed to a small vampire in the distance, a familiar face named Nana, who once suffered from severe male phobia.
So Nana raised her hands and covered her pointed ears.
You can’t cover it up! They definitely heard!
“If you had calmed down, she probably wouldn’t have thought anything wrong.”
“……”
