Chapter 365

Chapter 365. Chance Encounter

There weren’t many pedestrians on the street; a large number of migrant workers had gone home for the New Year, leaving the city a bit desolate.

The light strips on the sidewalks had already lit up, adding a colorful sparkle to the green trees.

Most of the shops along the street were closed, and in a rare milk tea shop still open, Ning Chu occasionally lowered her head to sip her tea, fingers dancing over her phone as she typed.

“If I had known, I would’ve just gone straight to my apartment…”

She sighed softly; even typing was so much easier on a computer than on a phone, plus she could play games.

“Why isn’t anyone leaving early today? There aren’t even many customers.”

She lifted her gaze again to the standalone restaurant across the street, impatiently bouncing her leg.

It had already been two hours!

After dinner, she had come here to wait for Wen Yang, hoping to surprise him or at least check if his colleagues had any cute girls around, but here she was, waiting for two whole hours.

“Miss, I’m about to get off work.”

Just as Ning Chu was about to order another cup of milk tea, the staff member, who looked no older than sixteen or seventeen, gently reminded her.

“Fine…”

At least she wasn’t just waiting; she had managed to write a chapter of her novel.

Stepping out of the milk tea shop, the cold wind hit her, causing her dry skin to feel like it had been sliced by a knife. She shivered, instinctively hunching her shoulders and burying her chin in her plaid scarf.

It was already the coldest time of the year, with temperatures nearing zero.

Unable to resist, she gave up on the idea of surprising Wen Yang and texted instead: “What time do you finish work?”

In no time, Wen Yang replied, “I’m waiting for the bus.”

“???”

When did he get off work! Why hadn’t she noticed!

Ning Chu quickly directed her gaze to the bus stop and soon spotted a tall figure under the shelter.

Sneaking up behind Wen Yang, she tiptoed, stretched her arms, and covered his eyes, using a playful tone to ask, “Guess who I am?”

A wave of fragrance wafted from her, and Wen Yang’s nose twitched slightly as he teased, “Who’s the childish ghost?”

“Guess quickly!”

The hands covering his eyes were delicate and slender, her ten fingers flushed like carrots, and mixed with a faint girl’s fragrance was a hint of milk scent…

There was no need for guesses; his brain had already provided the answer.

“Hmm… could it be Xin Yi?”

“Absolutely not! Who’s that?” Ning Chu immediately panicked, her voice losing its disguise, “Guess again!”

“Then it must be Si Qi, right?”

She raised her foot and kicked Wen Yang’s calf: “You! Who else? Confess honestly!”

Wen Yang turned to her, a playful smile dancing on his lips, full of affection: “No, just you.”

“Ugh!”

Ning Chu turned her head in disdain, pouting as if sulking: “Go find your Xin Yi and Si Qi~”

“Wrong, wrong, not joking anymore.”

“Just misspeaking is enough?”

Wen Yang looked helplessly at the Little Demoness: “What do you want me to do? Treat you to a late-night snack?”

“Well, that’s bearable…”

“During the New Year, who knows if the nearby snack street is even open?”

Ning Chu eagerly slid up to him, wrapping her arm around his and pulling him along: “Let’s go! Time for late-night snacks!”

“The snack street is that way.”

She rolled her eyes secretly, unsure how she had even developed a crush on this dense guy.

But Wen Yang lowered his head and whispered, “There’s a hotel over there with good soundproofing; you won’t have to hold back.”

“……”

Ning Chu stiffened, her face, already flushed from the cold wind, turning a deeper red. She glared up at him, “Why bring that up when we’re getting late-night snacks? You’ve got a dirty mind!”

“Huh? Aren’t you the one who wants me?”

“Absolutely not! Pervert!”

Even though she had indeed thought so earlier, once Wen Yang pointed it out, Ning Chu felt a rebellious spark of embarrassment.

Wen Yang persuaded her again: “Why not try? It’s not that expensive; I’ll treat you.”

“No way! And where’s your money coming from?”

“Huabei.” He directly grabbed Ning Chu’s wrist, pulling her toward the hotel, “Let’s go, let’s go, stop pretending!”

“No way!”

Ning Chu staggered as she trailed behind, struggling against him: “Can’t you think of something else!”

“Also, hotels are really expensive, okay? One night is like doing two days of work.”

“You…” She casually struggled for a bit but found herself gazing at Wen Yang’s hand, which had loosened its grip.

She effortlessly broke free?!

Stunned for a moment, she quickly ran up, shoving her wrist back into Wen Yang’s grip as if nothing happened.

After walking down a street, the two arrived at a seemingly ordinary hotel.

The sign read “Couple’s Hotel,” not the vulgar type, which made Ning Chu feel a bit less pressured.

“I heard these kinds of hotels often have cameras,” she whispered in Wen Yang’s ear, “Don’t let us end up on some hidden camera!”

“Surely not?” Wen Yang scratched his head, “I’ll check it out later; don’t rush.”

“How could I be rushing!”

But how did he catch a whiff of the little demoness’s intentions already?

The two curiously looked around as they walked into the hotel and approached the front desk to check in.

It was Ning Chu’s first time in such a place; she peeked at the price list, and the prices were pretty much the same as normal hotels.

She started to worry, fearing there would be some strange stuff in the rooms.

While she was pondering, the large door at the back was suddenly pushed open.

Ning Chu turned around, frozen in place, as she locked eyes with her mother, who had just walked into the hotel.

“……”

The two of them were momentarily at a loss for how to react in this situation.

As Ning Chu awkwardly adjusted her toes as if to dig a hole to hide in, her mother stared blankly for a moment, then pretended not to see, lowering her head and walking straight down the corridor.

No wonder she was a mother, her mental composure is strong!

Only then did Wen Yang finish the check-in process, mumbling as he glanced at her mother’s figure, “That back looks a bit like an Aunty?”

“Are you seeing things?” Ning Chu forced a smile.

It seemed the hotel’s soundproofing was indeed quite good; otherwise, her mother wouldn’t have chosen this place.

Who knows, maybe her mother was a regular here…

Wen Yang scratched his head in confusion, looking at the room card: “Room 107, this way.”

“This way?!”

“Hmm? What’s wrong?”

Oh no! Is it still her mother’s neighbor?!

“Nothing, nothing?”

Wen Yang looked at her with suspicion, but she was already leading the way, hiding her expression from him.

“107…”

Thank goodness, it was two rooms away from her mother, though not too far.

Ning Chu let out a deep sigh, really not expecting such a coincidence.

Opening the door, she adjusted her mood and peeked into the room.

It really wasn’t much different from an ordinary hotel, just that the lighting was an ambiguous pink-purple, the bed was round, and there was a large mirror on the ceiling.

In addition…

Ning Chu’s attention immediately fell on the oddly shaped chair.

She didn’t know what to call it, but it was common in adult books, capable of securing both legs and easily striking embarrassing poses.

Truly, her mother had picked a perfect hotel!
