Chapter 324

Chapter 324. Going to Work 3/12

The next morning, Ning Chu arrived at Wen Yang’s rental apartment once again.

Today was Wen Yang’s first day on the job, which made him a bit nervous.

But Ning Chu’s arrival eased his mind, giving him an inexplicable sense of confidence.

Standing at the door, his coat clung to him with static, and Ning Chu was using a lint roller to tidy him up, asking non-stop, “Are the hotels far?”

“It’s not too bad; just three bus stops, maybe ten minutes or so.”

“High-end hotels… The waitstaff must all be pretty, right? Did you see any during your interview?”

“They’re all quite good-looking.”

Ning Chu paused in her movements: “So, who caught your eye? Outside, they…”

“The ones outside are all bad women. I wouldn’t look at any of them.”

“Yeah, they definitely are quick to respond~”

She burst into laughter, her watery, peach blossom eyes looking at Wen Yang’s face, then became a little more serious: “You need to be careful. Boys should protect themselves when they’re out; don’t let any perverts take advantage of you.”

“Don’t worry.”

Ning Chu squatted down, using the lint roller on Wen Yang’s pants, reminding him: “If you’re not happy with the job, we can quit. My mom has an e-bike. You could help drive Hei Dou around, and then use it for food delivery.”

“Some girls might do anything just because they want you, so don’t get tricked. If anything happens, call me right away.”

“……”

Yesterday, before lunch at Ning Chu’s home, Wen Yang had listened to Ning Yuan ramble for several minutes.

Now it seemed Ning Chu had inherited some of her brother’s skills.

“If we don’t leave soon, I’m going to be late on my first day.”

“Ah?”

Ning Chu, squatting on the ground, looked especially petite. She stared blankly up at him, her glistening red lips slightly parting.

It hit her the next moment, and she quickly finished cleaning Wen Yang’s pants with the roller, jumped up, and pushed him toward the door: “Go! Hurry up and go to work! Remember to buy me a gift when you get your paycheck!”

“A game console?”

“We’ll see then.”

But Wen Yang’s feet seemed rooted in place, standing still in front of the already open door, turning to Ning Chu and asking, “Aren’t you going to give me an encouraging kiss on my first day?”

“We’re going to be late!”

“It’s fine; how long can it take?”

Seeing Wen Yang turn around and look down at her, Ning Chu could only helplessly roll her eyes.

Then she tiptoed up, wrapping her arms around Wen Yang’s neck.

So tall! I can’t reach!

Trying to stand even higher on her toes, she unconsciously ended up pressing against Wen Yang.

Only then did he lower his head to cooperate.

Ning Chu had intended just a brief peck, but as soon as their lips touched, the back of her head was gently pressed, and before she knew it, the invasion was complete.

“Mm!”

Didn’t we say we’d be late?!

You had to tease me before leaving, huh!

Don’t touch my waist!

Ning Chu shot a glare at Wen Yang, but soon, her annoyed expression turned into a pool of spring water. Her legs went weak, and she had to hold on tighter to Wen Yang’s neck to avoid collapsing to the floor.

Suddenly, a door in the hallway opened, and a tenant walked out with a trash bag. Hearing the soft whimper, they turned their head curiously, only to see Wen Yang’s broad back.

But Ning Chu was frozen in fear, her eyes widening a bit.

She had never kissed Wen Yang in front of anyone before.

Hei Dou didn’t count; back then, she was still a cat.

Amidst her nerves, the feeling of embarrassment stirred her emotions.

So thrilling!

“I’m leaving.”

Wen Yang lifted his head, a satisfied smile on his face, complaining, “The soundproofing here really isn’t great. I fell asleep listening to the snoring next door last night.”

“……”

You really did that on purpose.

Ning Chu weakly released her grip on Wen Yang’s neck and sat on the bed, following the force of his arm.

“Crazy…”

She shot a resentful glare at Wen Yang, but this guy quickly closed the door and slipped away.

Sitting on the bed and taking a moment to gather herself, she sighed anxiously, “Great, I’m definitely going to be found out when I go home.”

Luckily, she had stashed a change of clothes here in advance.

Ning Chu took out her pajamas from the nightstand, her weak legs feeling like they were stepping on a cloud, as she stumbled into the bathroom.

After a shower, any strange thoughts washed away with the water.

Wen Yang would probably trigger some plot; she planned to address it together later.

Now without any stamina potions to replenish, tiring herself out twice a day would leave her no mind for writing.

Dressed in cute shorts and a tank top, she exited the bathroom, throwing on Wen Yang’s coat. Quickly diving under the covers, she placed her laptop on her lap, leaning against the wall, and sent a message to her mom.

“Mom, I might be back later in the afternoon. I won’t be coming home for lunch; can Hei Dou pick me up?”

Very soon, she received a reply from her mother: “At Wen Yang’s? Isn’t he working today?”

“No, I’m out with friends.”

“What friend? Is it true you have become a girl? You’re not willing to tell even your grandparents.”

“……” Ning Chu was momentarily at a loss for words, deciding to throw in the towel, “Anyway, I’ll go back later so I won’t bother you.”

Her mom sent a giggling emoji.

Having dealt with her mother, Ning Chu rolled her wrists, ready to get to work.

Time to write! Time to write!

Without Hei Dou and her mother’s interruptions, she was sure to quickly get into the groove of writing today; it couldn’t be like before when she was a lazyfish.

Goal! Ten thousand words!

First, let me watch a newly updated video.

Let’s play some Billion Zombies.

Feeling thirsty, boil some water.

Hungry… What?! How is it already noon?!

The few hours of the morning had vanished without her noticing, and Ning Chu blankly stared at her document, having only written two lines.

She blinked in shock, a rush of urgency about forgetting her homework surged in her heart, and she ordered takeout, using the forty minutes until it arrived to quickly write a thousand words.

Then lunch, watch videos, play games…

Wen Yang returned at four in the afternoon; he had worked the morning shift.

Stretching and a little tired, he pushed open the door, glancing at Ning Chu, who was rapidly typing away on the bed: “Still writing? How much have you done?”

“Almost there, almost there; don’t peek.” Ning Chu’s gaze was fixed on the screen, distractedly asking, “How’s it going?”

“Not bad, just getting familiar on the first day.” Wen Yang sat down at the desk, reporting his upcoming schedule, “The manager wants me to join a dinner tonight. Apparently, it’s to welcome the new batch of employees, so I might have to go.”

“Uh-huh… Don’t drink; last time Lin Li even drugged you.”

“It shouldn’t be that crazy, right?” He looked a bit worried, “I’ll just say I’m allergic to alcohol; a couple of sips will land me in the hospital.”

“……”

Seeing Ning Chu still focused on her typing, Wen Yang curiously asked, “How much have you written today? You’re so diligent?”

“Uh… I’m almost done with a chapter.”
