Chapter 3

-An angel sent by Deus said to Leopar, “Behold, the one and only son of the Lord Deus and ruler of this world, Luke, has been appointed as the master of the celestial kingdom that Deus will establish. His father was unaware of this, and it was revealed that Luke has been chosen as an apostle of Deus.” The father then said to Luke, “If you wish to convey this message, find a way.” Luke discovered it, much to his father’s astonishment.

Gospel of Lydia (Formerly the Scala Gospel) Chapter 1:34-39

My one and only precious son, Luke.

From a young age, Luke was weak and often fell ill.

When he turned four, he was gravely ill to the point where his life was in danger.

Even the priests of the temple prepared for a final farewell, saying there was no hope.

But somehow, a divine being seemed to have taken pity on him and blessed him, for he suddenly recovered and was able to live a normal life.

Although he did not possess the same strength as his two sisters, he was able to engage in daily activities like an ordinary child.

……It was as if he followed the path of a child chosen by a god in a myth.

Such stories are common in myths.

A child chosen as a faithful servant of a god often becomes gravely ill in infancy but suddenly recovers to lead a normal life before becoming an apostle of the god.

Could it be that some god has chosen our Luke as his apostle?

He is my one and only precious son….

I cannot let him walk the painful path of an apostle of the god……

But what is a god?

An absolute entity that mere mortals cannot defy.

If a god has chosen Luke, then I must follow that will.

To defy a god and incur wrath would lead to a miserable end that would be better faced in death.

I have desperately wished that such a thing would never happen.

On a day when Luke turned seven, he brought me a book.

The first book he showed me was some kind of novel.

It seemed to be a novel he created.

A novel made by a young child.

For something created by such a young one, it was quite high-quality, though being written by a child made it distinctively different from existing novels.

Luke seemed to want to sell this novel to earn some money.

Ha ha! Wanting to make pocket money by selling a book? What a clever kid.

There’s no way this novel would sell, but the very fact that a young child thought of this was really impressive.

So, I praised him and sent him back to his room.

Though he was born weak and unfortunate, unworthy of our family lineage, I thought perhaps he could become a great figure achieving immense accomplishments in the cultural sphere.

A few months later, Luke came back with “that book.”

There was no way Luke could have created that book alone.

The handwriting in the book was certainly Luke’s.

But the content of the book could not have possibly come from Luke.

The book contained secrets of the continent that Luke could not possibly know.

And records of some forgotten god from ancient times.

Such secrets that no one in the empire, except for the emperor and me, was aware of.

There was no way Luke could have discovered them.

Unless some divine being helped him create this book.

Luke came to me with this book and said he wanted to sell it to make money.

He wants to sell this book? And make money?

Our territory isn’t the richest, but we manage just fine.

I put in considerable effort to ensure my precious son Luke never felt any lack, especially after suffering so much since childhood.

Now he wants to earn money at just the age of seven?

Something feels off.

Surely the god who chose Luke must have commanded him to share this book.

And his unwillingness to reveal the truth to me means that this god wishes to keep those facts hidden.

I sent Luke back to his room and read the entire book.

The title was [What Those Living on the Continent Must Read] – Volume 1 of the Old Testament.

What an audacious title.

Just from the title, it could pass as a book written by a child.

However, after reading the entire content, it spoke of dangers looming over the continent in the future, about the forces of chaos.

The forces of chaos.

Evil entities appearing beyond the northern mountain range of the empire I protect. They seem to materialize from thin air, presumably originating from another dimension.

At this point, they are weak and sparse, posing no threat to the empire, but the mere fact that hostile entities from another dimension are crossing over could lead to chaos, so this information is being kept under wraps from the general public.

The book prophesies that these forces will swiftly grow and engulf the continent within decades.

And that in order to prevent this, one must follow the god named “Deus.”

Is that so?

Is the god who chose Luke named “Deus”?

I have never heard of such a god.

I even visited the royal library and inquired about the name “Deus,” but it appears nowhere.

According to this book, “Deus” is a forgotten god from the mythological age who saved the continent. If that’s true, it makes sense that no one knows the name.

A god who sacrificed their own existence to save the continent and was forgotten…

If this book was written under the guidance of “Deus,” then he must be a benevolent god.

Gods cannot lie.

If so, does that mean our Luke, chosen by “Deus,” will become the savior of this continent?

My son is to be the one who saves the continent?

Compared to his sister, he was born with a feeble body and has always been sad, but perhaps this could be a blessing in disguise.

My heart swayed toward this idea.

There’s no way Luke could have written such a book by himself.

Surely a god has assisted him.

But, just to be cautious, I decided to put Luke to the test.

I instructed him to find a distribution channel that wouldn’t expose his identity to anyone.

For a seven-year-old Luke, it would be an impossible task.

However, if the god “Deus” really exists and is helping Luke, it might just be possible.

With such thoughts in mind, I set a condition for Luke…….

“The high-ranking knight of the empire, I present to you the guildmaster of the Information Guild Arachne, Scala Arachne.”

Luke easily managed to enlist the empire’s top information guild.

Though I received permission to sell the book I created, my father also imposed one condition.

I must never let anyone discover that I am the one who wrote this book.

I have to find a distribution channel that would never expose my identity.

Considering I was only seven when I approached my father with the book, it essentially amounts to him telling me not to do it.

No matter how high-ranking a noble he is, how can a seven-year-old child find a distribution channel? One that meets the condition of “never being discovered by anyone?”

My father likely set this condition to ensure I didn’t take it lightly and perhaps as a precaution against any potential risks.

Until I become capable of fulfilling this condition, I should refrain from acting.

But I am not an ordinary seven-year-old child.

I possess the knowledge of this continent from a different life.

Though the story starts ten years later, thus my information isn’t perfect, I can certainly find a way to secure a distribution channel.

One day, along with the imperial event, I found myself in the capital of the empire, Calandra.

I asked my father for a few knights to accompany me and some money.

It was just a request from a seven-year-old wanting to tour around with knights, yet surprisingly, my father granted it without hesitation.

…Does he have faith in me? Can a young child really go anywhere and not be stopped?

I had prepared many persuasive words to convince my father, but fortunately, I was able to obtain permission without resorting to them.

Thus, I set off, accompanied by strong northern knights, to an herb shop.

I purchased commonly available herbs and borrowed the shop’s facilities to mix and create the medicine I needed.

All to secure the assistance of the empire’s greatest information guild to help distribute my book.

There are several information guilds within the empire, commonly found in fantasy worlds.

Among them, one succeeded in completely dominating the capital: the Arachne guild.

A fallen noblewoman, Scala Arachne.

She built up the information guild solely through her abilities, including the “Gift,” and grew it to the point of fully controlling the underbelly of the imperial capital.

It was supposed to be a road to success from then on, but.

The driving force behind her relentless efforts, her reason for living, her younger sister, fell victim to an incurable disease.

At the start of [Deus Ex Machina], she managed to gather alchemists and wizards from across the empire to invent a cure for that incurable disease. However, by then, her sister had already died years ago.

But, being a veteran of the game, I know how to create the cure for that incurable disease at this point.

I’ve crafted that medicine countless times in the game as a status restoration potion.
