Watch Together.
Content where viewers watch anime or sports matches together on a broadcast.
It’s one of the comfort-food contents of the internet broadcasting world along with various ideal-type World Cups. There’s even a saying that if you turn on the broadcast and have nothing to do, you should either do a World Cup or a watch-together screening.
The method for hosting a screening is simple. Find content that you can watch with the viewers. And then watch it together.
If the video rights or broadcasting rights have been secured directly on the platform, then you can just play the video, but if not, you’ll have to broadcast just a black screen. If you carelessly broadcast the video, it could violate copyright laws.
If you’re watching an unpurchased video together on broadcast, you usually display a timer on top to show what content is being watched and for how long.
Viewers who want to watch the video with the streamer have to play the video separately. Even though the broadcast is on, it’s a hassle to open another video.
So why does the watch-together content still thrive despite this hassle? It deeply connects with the essence of internet broadcasting.
As the number of single-person households increases day by day, so does the feeling of loneliness and the desire to communicate with someone. Just like internet broadcasting has grown with this uniqueness, watch-together content carries that same vibe.
It’s content that isn’t particularly special. After all, it’s just about playing one video, whether it’s a sports match, anime, or a movie, yet people flock to it. Of course, the overwhelming presence of kayakers gathering no matter what content it is also plays a part.
[What anime watch-together? Ugh, seriously]
[Get rid of those cringe fans!!]
[What do you mean anime is in here?]
[Looks like Twishi bought the rights]
[If that’s the case, can we still watch it on broadcast?]
[It’s copyright, if you watch this on broadcast you’ll get it shut down, take it off now!]
[When things are calm, nothing beats watching anime together]
[Just rewatch Abyss League instead, what do you mean anime;;]
[Leagues are fun to watch live, what’s the fun in rewatching something with the results already out?]
“Why would I rewatch the results? What’s the fun in that?”
“Yeah~ No matter how much you plead, the Broadcast Host’s mind is set. Today is an animation-watching day.”
“Honestly, if you say not to watch, it’s like setting off a rebellious streak… they’ll watch it even more.”
“When has a Kayak ever listened to a Viewer, lol? Just do whatever you want.”
“What animation did we get this time? The Legend of the 11th King? Nah, I’ve never heard of it. Definitely haven’t seen it. But people seem to think it’s alright. Guess I’ll watch this today.”
Some Viewers, especially those with a high Subscriber ratio, were vocally opposed, but Kayak didn’t seem to care much.
Whether you were a long-time Viewer or not didn’t really matter.
Soon, she started asking the positive-responding Viewers about the episode count, where to stream it, and if there were any specific warnings to keep in mind.
“So, four seasons are out and it seems like we have two seasons bought on Twitchee. Hmm, first and second seasons have 20 episodes each. About 20 minutes per episode. That’s more than I thought. This isn’t content we can finish in one day?”
“There’s something special about binge-watching, you know?”
“Let’s go for a full watch!”
“What? Do you watch anime every day?”
“Those Abyss fans who’ve just been waiting are in tears, LOL.”
“Honestly, I’m so tired of Abyss; I’ve seen too much of it…”
“Those freeloader bastards who haven’t even subscribed, asking us to watch anime and do anything for them. – Deleted message.”
“Whoa;;”
“That’s scary,ㅠㅠ”
“Please save the hype.”
“That’s a bit harsh, haha;; The Legend of the 11th King is fun.”
“Anyway, today we’ll watch this before we end the stream. Let’s watch about 3-4 episodes, and if it’s fun, maybe we’ll watch a couple more before ending the stream after the main content.”

[Kayak's Watch Party for The Legend of the 11th King, lol.]
[But is that really okay? I heard that person is just an ordinary person who hardly watches anime.]
[For something like the 11th King, it should be a decent pick, right?]
“It’s gotta get good by episode five; the early episodes are just buildup.”
“I hope it’s not a flop after watching the first two episodes.”
The audience that had appealed to Kayak to watch the anime, particularly the VTuber fans coming from Lion Meow’s stream, were quietly worried.
What if I end up watching anime with Kayak and find it boring? What if I get laughed at for feeling touched and entertained by something like this? It was that kind of worry.
It was almost a trauma. Getting mocked with the phrase, “You watch this stuff?” was common but still felt like a big deal to them.
In the real world, they couldn’t find their place, so they dove into the online realm, but the streamer, who actively broadcasts, is like a human caught in between those boundaries.
Especially Kayak. A streamer who could easily step into the limelight but is doing internet broadcasts for reasons unknown.
What if that person ended up laughing when asked to watch anime? Just that thought could shatter their heart. They’d probably never bring up watching anime together again.
For that reason, despite their enthusiasm, they quietly observed Kayak’s reaction.
Fortunately, their worries seemed unfounded. Kayak actually reacted quite positively and watched episode 1.
“It’s got that shonen manga vibe, huh? So this character grows up to be the 11th King, right? The protagonist’s abilities are something else; turns out they have some extraordinary lineage or whatever. Don’t spoil it? Did I get it right? I didn’t do my homework, but I’d say it’s thanks to my sharp insights.”
[The host is a crazy nerd.]
[You’ve seen some anime, huh? Hehe.]
[Oh…? No wonder I feel a connection.]
[It’s a national rule storyline, haha.]
[Hmm… I guess so.]
[I don’t really know if it’s fun yet.]
[Honestly, it’s not that interesting so far.]
[Just watching the 5 o’clock show with excitement is more fun.]
[For real, lol.]
Up to this point, the vibe wasn’t bad. Since Kayak’s response was okay, even the viewers who said not to watch anime seemed to recognize it.
But the issue arose from episodes 2 and 3.
“Uh, um… Haha. No, this scene isn’t funny, right? I’m sorry, yes. Sorry… but it’s not really moving… is it the animation? The animation is ruining my immersion.”
Starting to say something about not being immersed, Kayak was showing no emotional response during the supposedly tear-jerking or touching moments. A couple of times, one might brush it off, but with the continuous reactions, some viewers started to become sensitive as well.
Kayak was showing some awkwardness. It could happen once or twice, but some viewers were reacting sensitively to the continuous displays.
[Well… you keep laughing, and it’s breaking my immersion.]
[This is supposed to be an emotional scene….]
[You need to cry here (serious).]
[But this is the scene where Karlslan decides to become a king. He feels he needs strength after losing a dear friend, and if you laugh at this scene, are you a psychopath?]
[Karlslan ㅠㅠ please be our king ㅠㅠ]
[Seriously, I’m trying to immerse myself, but with all this laughing, I can’t focus; I’m not even watching seriously, what’s going on? I can’t not curse with all this nonsense.]
[Do you have to watch anime seriously? (I genuinely don’t know).]
[Ah, should I sit up straight and watch with a solemn expression? LOL.]
[Seriously, even letting it slide is a hassle.]
[Seeing the nerds getting mad is so funny ㅋㅋㅋㅋ.]
[If this is more entertaining than the anime, I’d definitely recommend it ㅋㅋ.]
[This content is legendary ㅋㅋㅋ.]
[Did you foresee all of this… oh Emperor of Content?]
[As expected, the nerds’ guardian delinquent is Camilla ㅋㅋ.]
“Please don’t fight. I was wrong. I’ll try to immerse myself more. And please, everyone, don’t say too much.”
[Hmmm… is this really something I have to put effort into?]
[People watching anime are stricter than I thought ㅋㅋ.]
[No, no, no, I’m just grateful that you’re watching. Those who bash might be a bit annoying.]
[Aw man, the Broadcast Host looks gloomy now, you jerks.]
[If you touch Kayak, whether it’s the 11th King or whatever, the million broth squad won’t just sit still.]
And so, Kayak’s screening ended up being longer than expected.
According to the viewers’ comments, “This part is fun; that’s just build-up; after this part, there’s a cool scene,” before they knew it, they were already on episode 6.
“You guys told me in advance this part was amazing, but it’s a bit underwhelming… do I just keep shouting ‘Kya’? No, why is it ‘Kya’? Didn’t do anything significant. There’s no epic battle or anything, I just don’t understand… am I supposed to empathize mindlessly? Is my empathy skills lacking? Alright, I’ll empathize….”
For a content piece set up just to kill time, it was quite difficult. Realizing that reacting properly wasn’t an easy task, Kayak thought to herself while watching the video.
