“Wow, I’m not really that surprised. I thought I would be blown away.”
“Instead of being surprised, you’re teasing me, aren’t you?”
“Hehe…”
Even though I said that, I was definitely feeling quite astonished.
I couldn’t believe she was broadcasting as a VTuber. It was surprising enough that she was doing internet streams, but this felt like a whole different twist.
In my memories, she was much more of a VTuber than a traditional streamer. She seemed like the type who would naturally be running a vlog or a beauty channel showing her daily life.
This was definitely an unexpected twist too. Yeon Soo must have undergone some kind of change just like me.
After teasing her for a while until she was all flustered, our conversation naturally led toward the idea of collaborating together.
“Um… but is it really okay to collab with me? I mean, I’d be happy to, but what do you gain from it?”
That was a pretty reasonable point. There was definitely a difference in our streaming scales, and more than that, the viewers didn’t even know what connection existed between me and Yeon Soo.
But, you know… that didn’t really matter.
“It’s fine. I don’t have any plans for the time being anyway.”
Once my stream was on the right track, I decided to try out every random idea that popped into my head.
Didn’t Taker, the big shot of the internet streaming world, say that you had to pursue content that interested you to keep streaming for a long time?
As I chatted with Yeon Soo, I also confirmed that she wasn’t the type to try and take advantage of me, so I had no reason to hesitate. I also wanted to give her something since it had been a while since I last saw her.
From what I quickly glanced at her stream, she seemed keen on expanding her platform as well. I had also thought of content I wanted to do with a virtual streamer in our previous meetings.
“Then let’s call it a night since it’s getting late. Let’s meet again next week. I’ll get in touch again, and I can post an announcement when I get home.”
“Okay, contact me. Oh, by the way, my number… hasn’t changed, right?”
“Oh, the number.”
I didn’t need to check, but it should still be there. I hadn’t touched my contact list in ages.
When I rummaged through my phone contacts, I indeed found the name Iyeonsu tucked away in a corner.
“Looks like it’s still there.”
“Hehe… then I’ll contact you when I get home!”
As I waved goodbye to Yeon Soo, who was smiling brightly, I turned to leave.

[Why are there so many VTubers popping up lately?]
It’s not at the very top, but if you scroll down a bit, there’s a lot of virtual stuff below; almost everything is virtual.
Are all the cam streams dead?
– Virtual is the trend of the times… there’s no stopping it now.
– VTubers are indeed the mainstream, yeah…
– I just want to tear apart all the VTuber avatars.
– These days, even male Dullahans show off good-looking avatars while streaming.
– Is there a demand for Chutyubers?
– Their voices are nice, and girls seem to watch them secretly.
– Looking at the gender ratio, it’s a complete female-dominated broadcast.
– It feels oddly unsettling, like I’m talking to an animation character…
– Even those who originally streamed without a cam have switched to virtual; everyone seems to have an avatar while streaming.
– That’s not virtual!!!
– Seriously, no foundation. Ugh.
– Looking at the comments, there are a lot of people who are behind the times, lol. If you can’t accept virtual, it’s your loss, lol. Either way, the people you like will inevitably be associated with virtual.
– Watching avatars dance and move being treated as cute is a bit hard for me to watch.
– The girl I like is on a deserted island, so it doesn’t concern me.
– Unless it’s some large server or something, there’s no chance for virtual and cam streamers to meet up anyway.
But why do people hate virtual so much??
Did virtual kill their parents or something? Did their streamers do something wrong? It seems like there’s nothing particularly wrong; hate comments come up regularly.
– Well… because it’s popular.
– The gallery owner Kayak gets shit on for trivial reasons, so there must be some reason, right? lol
– When I’m looking for a show to watch and just see an avatar’s flat panel floating around, I get annoyed, lol.
– It’s frustrating to see people come up with awful concepts under the guise of RP and to see them being cocky while watching tons of otaku stuff, and it’s also annoying that they broadcast without showing their cam like cowards.
– ?? Is not showing your cam a cowardly point? lol
– It’s nice that with virtual, people can’t leak my face or personal info.
– But even if you do leak, it all gets out anyway.
– VTubers usually get tracked down through stuff like social media and end up getting caught by their boyfriends.
– The cyber investigation team from my corner is scary, lol.
– Virtual hate is a long-standing tradition that comes from the old no-cam hate, yeah. To put it simply, you could say it’s a rejection at the genetic level.
– But why did they hate no-cam in the first place?? I’ve only been watching streams for 3 months, so I’m not sure.
– They just dislike no-cam because it’s a Dullahan streaming with just a voice; there’s no big reason.
– What’s a Dullahan??
– Aah, damn, if you don’t know, at least look it up, you clueless brat;;
– If you’ve only been watching streams for 3 months, maybe just stop watching them altogether… that’s serious advice from a 10-year stream veteran.
If you’ve been watching online broadcasts for just three months, maybe you should stop… This is serious advice from a seasoned broadcaster of ten years.
Seriously, just skip the live streams and stick to VTubers; that’s more than enough.
Welcome to the grand era of VTubers.
Currently, you’ll find plenty of VTubers spread across all platforms in the realm of internet broadcasting.
In recent years, some people have been grumbling about the sudden surge in numbers.
But for every crowd that dislikes virtual content, there’s another that loves it.
There are communities dedicated solely to virtual streamers, not caring about cam broadcasters.
The Virtual Streamer Gallery is one such space.
“[When is Hari Meow's stream?]”
“[What’s with the cute vibe of Cine?]”
“[Emergency for Bear Fans ]>> Bear’s boyfriend exposure news>”
Regardless of the number of viewers, the broadcaster being featured changes from time to time in that gallery.
Recently, one VTuber has been the hot topic in that gallery.
“[Lion Meow <<< One of the hot virtual streamers these days]”
This 6-month-old broadcaster boasts about a 100 average view count, does well with commentary, and has good audio. The avatar might be a bit of a barrier, but you’ll get used to it over time.
– “This was my Hako pick, and it’s gotten big enough for a mention in the gallery.”
– “What’s with how ridiculously cute Lion Meow is?”
– “The nickname was clearly made up on a whim, haha. What even is Lion Meow?”
– “This is definitely a furry avatar.”
“Seriously, just because it has animal ears, it’s considered a furry avatar?”
“Why do people dislike furry avatars? There are tons of virtual characters with animal ears!”
“Probably because their brains haven’t fully developed yet.”
“[So, is Lion Meow a virgin or what?]”
“Hey, Bus Gallery virginity experts, hurry up with the results!”
– “So what if she’s a virgin? What if she’s not? Haha.”
– “If she’s not a virgin, she’s clearly unfinished goods.”
– “Virginity inspectors are a joke, haha.”
– “You know there are those who analyze whether gallery VTubers are virgins or not periodically, right?”
– “I don’t know about virginity status, but at least she isn’t a toxic mess.”
“Wait, what’s with ‘toxic mess’? I don’t get it.”
“Don’t you know? It’s a term for someone who can really turn a sour atmosphere around.”
“Just means she has a decent personality that can lighten the mood.”
In communities favoring webcam broadcasting, like the Abyss Gallery, and those supporting virtual content, attention was drawn to an unexpected announcement.
“?? What’s this about a Kayak collab?>”
“[Is the gallery owner doing a collab?]”
“[Who even is Lion Meow?]”
Who is Lion Meow?
[Random Announcement On]
[Lion Meow Company Collaboration Streaming Haha]
[Who is Kayak, you nerds? I don’t know anything about VTubers!]
[Collaboration Stream...? Lion Meow, this is a bit...]
[Is there really a reason to collaborate with Kayak? They don’t even watch VTubers, so there's probably nothing to gain from it.]
That was the news of Kayak and Lion Meow’s collaboration.
[Isn't Kayak the one who took care of Chochoc and Saturn in Lightning Village?]
[Honestly, Kayak is kind of likable... Is it a decent stream among VTubers...?]
[Better than watching Hako doing a collab with a YouTuber.]
[Is Kayak a close VTuber?]
[So what are they collaborating on?]
*
Kayak, who made an announcement about the collaboration but didn’t mention anything else afterward.
She only left the date announced without saying a word. She wasn’t promoting it or letting anyone know what content would be on that day. Just that there would be a collaboration, and it would probably be fun.
The viewers thought this was Kayak’s way of building anticipation for the collaboration.
“Kayak is streaming!”
-With Lion Meow
And so on the day it was announced that they would collaborate, the stream began, and the viewers, each with different expectations, flocked to Kayak’s stream.
[HahaHaha]
[Thank you for collaborating with our Meow! ㅠㅠㅠㅠ]
[But what will you two do?]
[They’ve been collaborating more frequently lately.]
[Thank you for the fan meeting ^^ I still haven’t washed the hand that shook yours.]
[What’s this, a casual stream?]
[It seems like a casual stream from the setup.]
[?? Is it casual?]
The screen looked strangely different than usual. It was the viewers who first noticed the subtle change that started the chat to stir.
And soon after, Kayak appeared.
“Hello, everyone.”
It was indeed an outdoor stream. Proving the viewers’ guesses correct, she was sitting on a bench in a park.
And in her arms, there was a somewhat large tablet screen.
On it was a character familiar to some of the viewers who had come to Kayak’s stream.
-Oh, hello. I am Lion Meow, greetings to Kayak’s viewers!
The cute girl beastman lion bowed politely.
