Chapter 174

I can’t go if I’m not invited.

Whether it’s a wedding or a first birthday party, the owner of the event must send out invites for anyone to attend. If an uninvited guest shows up saying, “I wanted to join too!” they’ll just get treated like a trespasser.

Kayak felt utterly wronged. Since turning on the broadcast, she’d been bombarded with the same question repeatedly: “Why aren’t you coming to Thunder Village?” The only answer she could give was that she couldn’t go because she wasn’t invited.

A mega corporation among mega corporations. The protagonist of the broadcast ranked first in Abyss Gallery’s “Must-See Broadcasts of a Lifetime.”

As news spread that Kayak hadn’t received an invitation to the content, others began to hustle and bustle.

They spread the news from room to room, cuckoo birds flying in and out, and posts flooding the community.

“Didn’t Kayak get invited to Thunder Village??”

“Damn, clueless idiots lol. Why invite anyone else when you have a top-tier asset like Kayak?”

“Why isn’t Taker inviting Kayak as a starting member?”

Among them, the most malicious was a guy named Eokdeok. It was essentially a rumor without any basis to fact-check.

“Are Taker and Kayak on bad terms?”

“Taker dislikes Kayak, you can tell by how he’s acting.”

“(Tesseract News) The secret behind Taker’s reign over the mega corporation for years…”

The primary consumer group for internet broadcasts were deep into their own delusions.

Most were internet ghosts, addicted to communities. Their lives were completely cut off from the outside world. The only link to the real world was through the community.

With their social skills utterly lacking, they couldn’t grasp normal relationships between people. This was why gossip about who’s feuding with whom, who’s better than whom, and who’s keeping an eye on whom would pop up non-stop in the community.

As a result, Taker, realizing the situation, quickly sprang into action. He invited Kayak and deployed managers and employees to take over the community and quell the public opinion.

In fact, the current situation was quite baffling for Taker himself. There was no reason not to invite Kayak. In fact, he’d been anticipating Kayak’s rise in popularity all along and wanted to ride the Kayak coin wave.

Exercising his rights as a planner and operator, Taker invited Kayak to the Thunder Village server.

This was somewhat of an overreach. The operator was supposed to only invite the starting members and focus on server management, leaving the village composition aside.
This was somewhat like an act of overreach. The operator was originally supposed to invite only the starting members, focusing solely on server management and not meddling with the village’s structure.

However, no one protested or complained about the Taker’s decision.

Originally, the content itself was blatantly encouraging a camaraderie among streamers, made for enjoyment, and it would be strange to voice disagreement when the Broadcast Host who created the content said they would do so.

Of course, if there had been someone a bit controversial or unpopular being invited freely, it would have been a problem, but the Kayak was instead being fervently requested by the viewers to be invited.

If anything, they would clap in agreement, rather than raise an issue saying, “Isn’t this a bit off?” There simply weren’t any viewers who voiced such concerns.

Thus, just two days after the server opened, the Kayak found themselves in Thunder Village.

*

[Alright, let’s go~ let’s go~ let’s go~ let’s go~ let’s go~]
[It was a rough schedule, oof….]
[Why is it so hard to get an invite to the server?]
[Taker was shocked and immediately invited the Kayak lol]
[100 Million Kayak Fans’ sudden protest ㄷㄷ]
[I didn’t know the Kayak fans were so fierce, always talking about rice cakes or bean paste pots…]
[Those who are usually trapped in their own worlds are the scariest ones.]
[Touch the Kayak and you’re in trouble.]

“What on earth did you all do?”

While jokingly lamenting that I hadn’t been invited to Thunder Village, suddenly a personal Discord message popped up from the Taker.

It was a long explanation insisting that it wasn’t what it seemed, along with the server address.

What is going on here- I thought briefly as I checked the message, instantly realizing what the viewers had gotten themselves into.

“You can’t just show up anywhere and cause a ruckus, I’m really sorry about this.”

[But it’s clear that the side that didn’t invite the Kayak is at fault….]
[It’s right that the Taker is tangled up in this, oof.]
[The Teacher’s fandom is a bit too intense, haha;]
[Do these folks not think? They’re making the Broadcast Host look bad.]
[But hey, they caused a ruckus and got invited right away, let’s celebrate.]
[These guys don’t listen to their mom… they’re more rebellious than their mom, they don’t listen to the Kayak….]
“Those who aren’t listening…”

“[Mom, I’m sorry ㅠㅠ]”

I did want to be invited to Thunder Village. It’s true that I was feeling lazy about planning content and just wanted to comfortably ride on the Taker’s stream.

But this wasn’t exactly how I wanted to be invited. I mean, just a little wait and they would have invited me on their own, so why rush?

This way only creates enemies and leaves a bad impression. I couldn’t hold back a sigh and spoke up.

“Ah, please don’t do that next time. Got it?”

“[Eh?]”

“[If I say don’t do it, then don’t, guys]”

“[Seeing Kayak’s sad face breaks my heart…]”

I may have said it, but I didn’t really trust my own words. What guarantee do I have that these people won’t do this again next time?

Anyway, since things had gotten to this point, I couldn’t just sulk around. I decided to deal with the fans little by little.

I raised my energy again and started getting louder.

“VTuber friends, bwa-ha! Today, we’re going to check out the Taker’s Thunder Village! I’m not sure how well I can do since it’s my first time playing Minecraft.”

“[What’s with the energy? LOL]”

“[This person has gone mad with the VTuber vibes]”

“[Kayak’s growth trend is insane, right?]”

“[Is this the legendary 740,000 VTuber?]”

“[Is Kayak an absolute newbie at Minecraft?]”

As I announced the start of the content, I moved my character at the same time.

My avatar strode forward confidently.

“The basic controls are pretty simple. Jump with the spacebar? You can run, too? Ah, like this.”

“[You can change your avatar too]”

“[The basic avatar is really lame]”

“[Someone, please trim Kayak’s Minecraft avatar and send it over]”

“[Isn’t Nicang already using it?]”

“[What a loyal subject, Nicang;;]”

“[Kayak’s first sword is Nicang ㄷㄷ]”

“Go get an avatar from Nicang? Got it, I’ll just take a stroll around the village for now. I need to get used to Minecraft too.”

Leaving the impatient viewers behind, I started to explore slowly. I had heard before that the content was about casually interacting with other streamers.

There are supposed to be jobs, hidden missions, titles, and more to discover, but I’d take my time figuring it all out.
It was something I had to slowly figure out.

“Didn’t they say the server just launched a day ago? Yet there’s so much stuff. What’s that? That’s the shrine that Tuna is building. Oh…”

[Kayak is already having bad thoughts, LOL]
[Why are you grinning so sinisterly?]
[Smiling at architecture… what does that mean?]
[Please don’t do that…]

“No, when did I ever grin sinisterly? I was just admiring it, that’s all. You’re making me look weird again.”

Some are building, while others are farming. Despite the server being newly opened, the place was already bustling with people—talk about a major content hub!

While I was exploring the area, I spotted a familiar name inside a building.

“Han Kang, what are you doing here?”

“Oh, crazy Kabi! It says a 10 is coming out here, this is totally rigged—Oh, Kayak, you’re here?”

[Han Kang didn’t invite Kayak]
[This dude is already gambling, LOL]
[He just came to the village to gamble]
[If you hang out with Han Kang, you’ll only gamble, think wisely, LOL]
[Isn’t Kayak going to take it all?]
[It’s not about anyone taking it; we’re all getting cleaned out here…]

“Hey, Kayak, do you want to play a game?”

“Um…”

Honestly, I didn’t even need to ask what they were doing; just taking a look gave me a rough estimate.

“I’m not completely opposed to it, but I’ll do it later. I haven’t explored everything yet.”

“Yeah, come back later, and we’ll play a game. I’ll spot you the cash.”

Han Kang dived back into the gambling, and as I was leaving the gambling den, I heard a voice call out to me.

“Ka, Kayak?”

I turned around to see a character jumping excitedly.

“I’m, like, a huge fan!”

Bouncing around.

I met a fan just ten minutes after logging in.
