Chapter 155

It was a holiday even the monster got to enjoy, but there were those who couldn’t savor such a fitting day.

Students braving winds so fierce they could flip over large umbrellas were heading to school, where no closure had been declared.

Their recent search terms included ‘typhoon school closure’, ‘Incheon typhoon’, and ‘typhoon school’, among others.

They were a group hoping for a break from school due to the anticipated natural disaster, but it was utterly pathetic.

The sound of rain drumming incessantly against umbrellas was like a machine gun.

The wind buzzed in their ears, while the mad rain soaked their legs.

The typhoon on this summer day truly felt like a disaster for the students.

Of course, the two magical girls were no exception either.

“Ugh, so damp.”

“My socks are all soaked…”

As we entered the classroom, a few complaints slipped out from me and Siyeon.

The longer the walk took, the more soaked we inevitably became, the unavoidable damage on our way to school during the typhoon.

With not just our socks and legs getting wet, it was as if the umbrella’s protection was pointless; we sat down almost completely drenched up to our waists.

My bag, too, hadn’t escaped the rain, now soaked to the point of darkening in color.

Or rather, maybe it was better to say that my back was saved from getting wet?

Perhaps due to the typhoon’s influence, fewer students were seen compared to typical days.

After closing the front and back doors of the empty classroom, I immediately turned on the air conditioner and lowered it to 18 degrees, while turning all the fans to maximum power.

‘Not my electricity—’

With a comfortable mind, I began closing the windows one by one with a soft click, setting up the ideal classroom for a nap.

Once I sat down, I took off my sneakers, which were practically squeezing out water with every step.

Under my desk lay a row of metal pipes, a good spot for my feet.

I slipped my damp socks off and slowly dried my feet, resting the soles against the lingering breeze traveling through the holes.

The subtle coolness felt refreshingly pleasant amidst the rainy day.

The only good part about the rain was that physical education class would definitely be canceled.

Other than that… well, not much else.

Maybe the temperature dropping to the level of an ant’s stone was a plus?

Due to the humidity, clothes hardly dried, and simply wandering around would get you completely soaked.

The wind would send my hair flying, even when I went to buy something, gripping the umbrella only made it more inconvenient.

“I really hate the rain.”

Complaining about nature while bobbing my head didn’t change anything.

Even after school ended, the savage typhoon continued pouring rain from the sky.

Despite the raging wind and rain not letting up, some unfortunate souls were starting to emerge.

“Hey? My umbrella.”

Students who had left their umbrellas open at the back often faced the challenge of losing them.

First, it usually happened when other students opened their umbrellas there too, mistaking it for their own and casually walking off with it.

Second, those who hadn’t brought an umbrella would intentionally take someone else’s without a care.

Such events were common among the male students.

In my case, I kept mine near my desk to avoid such troubles…

Not to mention, it was a large, beautiful solid pink umbrella designed specifically to prevent a guy from taking it.

A special ‘shameful for a guy to hold’ umbrella.

Having attended an all-boys school, I’d seen my fair share of students losing… no, getting their stuff stolen.

Let alone those manga or pens I lent to others, if you weren’t careful, it would all go missing, so what would an umbrella be like?

With homeroom over, it was time to head home.

“Eh?”

With a puzzled grunt, Taehyun was just rummaging through the pile of umbrellas.

Coincidentally, Siyeon was also waiting since today was her day off from the academy, so I gave Taehyun a light nudge on the back.

“What’re you doing?”

“I can’t find my umbrella?”

“You idiot, you left it at the back?”

Turns out, Taehyun was also a victim of the umbrella thief.

Seonhyuk and Dongha had already skedaddled out of the classroom to head to an internet café.

Since our paths overlapped anyway, I couldn’t just leave him behind, so I decided to take him along.

The school entrance was visible with thick streams of rain pouring down.

With a loud snap, I opened my umbrella and asked Taehyun.

“Wanna share with me, or stick with Siyeon?”

“Uh…”

Taehyun hesitated, fumbling over the suggestion I made without much thought.

Siyeon, sensing something was off, chimed in with another idea.

“Taehyun can take my umbrella, and we can share together, right?”

Pointing at her umbrella, then at Taehyun, and back towards herself and me.

“Oh, that works.”

After rolling my eyes and thinking it over for a moment, that indeed seemed better.

Better than having strange misunderstandings from sharing an umbrella between a guy and a girl.

As we made our way along the rainy road home, two large, stunning special pink umbrellas paraded along.

Taehyun, perhaps to avoid looking solitary, walked close enough to me so that the umbrellas barely touched.

Siyeon, to avoid getting wet, walked so close it felt like we were conjoined twins under the same umbrella.

At the crosswalk, it was crucial to maintain a safe distance from puddles when it rains heavily.

Otherwise…

“Yaaah?!”

That’s what happens.

With a splashing sound, a car making a right turn splashed water on someone standing near the crosswalk.

To prevent such accidents, keeping away from puddles on rainy days was a must.

I’d heard from somewhere that some twisted folks would do that on purpose.

When the signal turned green at the crosswalk, we trudged forward.

Almost on the verge of hugging Siyeon as we walked together.

Just when we were walking along nicely, we weren’t used to walking like this with two people even in the rain…

“Whoa….”

“Yaaah…!”

Stepping onto a sunken part of the asphalt road, our balance crumbled in an instant.

A short scream didn’t even get to finish before we plopped straight into a puddle.

“Ugh…”

Trying to rise from the puddle that soaked my back beginning with my butt, I found myself pinned under Siyeon.

With Taehyun’s assistance, I awkwardly rose up, realizing I was soaked.

We resumed our path headed home.

“Ugh, so wet…”

A sigh escaped with my skin clinging to my shirt.

I loosened the top button that had been fastened tight, wringing my drenched clothes outside.

Of course, that was in vain since my clothes wouldn’t dry in just a few seconds.

It was just a miserable walk home for all of us.

Arriving at the apartment’s communal entrance,

Even though Siyeon was also drenched, as she finally unwrapped from me, she retrieved her umbrella from Taehyun.

While handing back the special pink umbrella, Taehyun spoke with worry in his voice.

“Thanks for the umbrella, you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m not fine, but… I’ll need a shower when I get home.”

My body was completely soaked from the waist up, starting from my butt.

Since it wasn’t water from the rain but more like I’d splashed into a puddle, my shirt and skirt hung down to my hips, so squeezing them would perfectly wring out water.

Moreover, my shirt, sticking to my skin, was just another wet problem.

Although it was a bit better being out of the water, the right butt cheek, which had met the ground first, felt slightly numb.

Siyeon had ended up on top of me, so she was less wet but still needed a shower.

When I got home, I’d crank up the air conditioning, take a warm shower, and then bask in the cool air—just another day over.

“Ugh, so damp.”

As I stepped into the elevator and loosened the top button of my oversized shirt, I pressed the buttons for the 4th and 17th floors.

My drenched shirt flapped in the breeze, with a faint draft sneaking in through the fabric.

Thinking about how Taehyun also had classes around the same time as Siyeon, I turned back to him to ask something.

“Hmm?”

But Taehyun was in some awkward position.

He had his backside pushed back, arms resting on the arms of the chair, and his head bowed down, making my question vanish instantly.

There’s only one reason a guy would pose like that.

I glanced at myself to see,

The moisture that had soaked my back was gradually spreading, reaching the front.

The light blue underwear was faintly visible through the damp shirt.

Not only was it already summertime and I hadn’t layered anything under my shirt, but now it was an absolute mess.

They say it’s subtly enticing, right?

Honestly, if a few features weren’t missing, the sight of my damp shirt clinging to me was quite appropriate for that type.

“The 4th floor.”

The elevator moved a bit before stopping with a quick ding and opening the doors.

Although it had been a sticky day thanks to the typhoon, it was still an enjoyable Friday.

I left a brief reminder of Monday on my way out.

“See you next week—”

“Uh, yeah…”
