Chapter 133

Twitch Korea’s service is coming to an end!

Only about two months left. It’s basically right before the shutdown.

Usually, all sorts of things happen right before a service shuts down. It’s because everyone’s minds are stuck on the idea that it’s over. It’s the last chance, so what’s the big deal?

Thus, inside Twitch, while various content was being streamed, there was also a subtle tension in the air.

Everyone was waiting for someone to take the lead. Among them, especially the big corporations. Those sitting at the top when sorting viewers by the number of people watching on Twitch.

Their decisions became crucial.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t just Twitch that found itself in a sudden new phase. The continent also woke up to find their neighbor had collapsed, leaving them in a state of shock. But when situations like this arise, the swift action takers are the ones that benefit.

– Internet broadcasting platform continent gearing up for a new platform launch…

– Zizijik vs. continent, a divided battle for Twitch users

The continent wasn’t just sitting idle either. In an attempt to shake off the old image associated with its name, it created a new platform and started luring Twitch streamers by linking their subscriptions, enticing them to choose the continent.

Viewers watching broadcasts from the continent eagerly joined in, promoting it wherever they could, hopping around from channel to channel.

Some viewers even entered certain streamers’ rooms on Twitch, spreading positive vibes about the continent or acting like scouts, hoping to convince specific streamers to switch over.

[Riri] <<< This person was cute today, hope they come over ㅇㅇ Abyss mostly does communication broadcasts, but I hear they’re considering trying out the continent too. - I see there are over 2,000 viewers lol why are there so many? - Don’t get too excited, almost all Twitch folks will probably go to Zizijik. - If they come over, I heard Kayak will too, is that true? No way, isn’t that the opposite? No, they’re probably part of the Kayak squad. If Kayak comes over, this person will too. Is that LimeTack or something? They’re also part of the Kayak squad. What’s up with everyone being in the Kayak squad? Is Kayak that big? If they’re currently the number one on Twitch, then yeah, they're huge lol. Do you think Kayak, who’s even on public broadcasts, looks like a Zoros? "Can you see it?" "Nope, just grab Kayak and they'll all follow." [Kayak: I don't get why these kids hate the continent so much.]

(A clip of Kayak chatting with viewers about the platform.)

“Seriously, I don’t get it either. Why do they hate the continent so much?”

– “It’s just because of the image.”

– “It’s the accumulated karma from back in the day, haha.”

– “The bad image is old news, though.”

– “Now it’s just the difference between streamers.”

“Seriously, each broadcast is different, so what’s so gross about it, haha?”

“There are plenty of girls on Twitch going wild too.”

“Cam girls on Twitch are pretty significant.”

– “If you go to the continent, you have to do Excel streams and cyber room salons, ugh.”

“I thought anyone could join for Excel streams.”

“I kinda want to do Excel streams, haha.”

“Huh?”

“Get out of here.”

“Weren’t you a specialist in Abyss content, Kayak? There should be Abyss partnerships too.”

“I saw not long ago that she dances really well.”

“With that face and body, just sitting still would crush most cam girls.”

Meanwhile, in the continent’s community, there was a lot of chatter about Kayak.

Then Kayak’s announcement went up.

[Today's broadcast will start on JijiJik.]

Below is the broadcast link.

Not a simultaneous stream but a solo one. It’ll likely just be a test broadcast, but while other streamers were hesitating, Kayak was the first to take action.

The community members watching couldn’t hide their disappointment, waiting for Kayak to visit the continent someday.

*

[Is this the new house?]

[Overall, it’s pretty similar to Twitch, even the UI.]

[There are a lot of strange things on the side, though?]

[Why is cosplay included in the categories?]

[It seems like it’s not originally for broadcasting but modified.]

[JijiJik started first… what does that mean?]

“Kayak is the most proactive among the Smurdles, haha. Other kids just watch but do nothing.”

[Those pulling hostage situations on the platform really get on my nerves, haha.]

[The platform is a major issue.]

“Indeed, decisive action is Kayak.”

[The broadcast host is actually solid; they’re fine anywhere because their foundation is strong.]

“Still, please don’t go to the continent… stay on JijiJik…”

“Ah, can you all hear me well? Can you hear me?”

[Yes, yes.]

“Look how clear the quality is.”
[Is this… 1080p?]

[Sorry, Twitch… but now I find Zizzy more appealing.]

[Twitch was the one who bailed first, what are you talking about?]

[Twitch gave it their all.]

It was the moment the test broadcast started. People said Zizzy had a vibe quite similar to Twitch, and they were absolutely right.

Whether by design or coincidence, the basic UI was similar, so there wasn’t much to prepare to start as a streamer.

It’s not just talk about inheriting Twitch. The viewers and some streamers really felt that Zizzy had taken its rightful place.

Unlike the continent, which was packed with people already broadcasting on an existing platform, Zizzy was a fresh new territory.

Truly a new land, an unknown world. So, they say that broadcasting on Zizzy would be no different than broadcasting on Twitch, just a change of platform.

But that’s still uncertain. There might be perks to broadcasting on the continent too, like increased traffic or big spenders…

I heard they’ve also started major renovations over there. Linking subscriptions from Twitch and all, there are pros and cons to every choice.

[ZizzyLover donated 1000 won!]
-Should we just claim Zizzy first?

Then, out of the blue, a donation flew in.

And in response, another donation followed closely.

[FreeRecruiter donated 10000 won!]
-You’ll do a test broadcast on the continent, right? Looking forward to it ^^

What a riot it was.

Maybe it was the donations grabbing attention, but the chat started moving like a yo-yo. This is just the current vibe of broadcasts.

Whichever stream you entered, if someone mentioned how great the continent was or what they liked about Zizzy, people who were minding their business would suddenly go into a collective rage.

If this was an intentional setup for a showdown, fine. But seeing familiar usernames, long-time viewers getting caught up in the brawls… it was a head-scratcher. What’s got everyone so riled up?

“Alright, alright. Let’s keep it down. From now on, anyone who brings up platform talk without my permission will get banned. I hate to be heavy-handed, but y’all brought this on yourselves.”

As I said that, I slapped a big ol’ message at the top of the stream screen. Mention the continent or Zizzy? Banned.
“‘Wow, seeing the continent written in front, could it be…?’ What could it be? So if I say Mom and Dad, do I like Mom more? What nonsense are you talking about? Please leave.”

Even if the control is severe, there’s nothing you can do about it. If I don’t do this, the broadcast itself won’t work. Somehow, it really feels difficult to broadcast these days.

I don’t know if it’s because forces are gathering from somewhere, or if it’s just that the fans who used to watch are acting out, but if someone is indecisive, they’re bound to be swayed.

Anyway, at this point, even I, who am a bit insensitive, can feel it. The platform is a major issue.

Because of that, I shouldn’t carelessly be swayed by the viewers’ opinions.

Of course, individual broadcasts are something made together by the streamer and the viewers, but to these people, it’s ultimately someone else’s business.

They can’t ponder more than I, the person involved. Suggestions like where is good, or where to go, are merely expressions of their intentions or advice.

Though it’s rare, if I were to choose the wrong platform and end up in ruins, these people would just laugh, saying, ‘Haha, I told you to go to the continent, right?’ Or maybe they would sympathize, saying it’s too bad.

Now that I’m not alone anymore and am a boss with two employees, I need to be cautious.

Because the viewers can’t be responsible for me.

[The viewers are somewhat unreliable, haha]

[The kayak asking the viewers to be responsible… that’s a bit suggestive]

[Be responsible! Be responsible!]

[Oh….]

“Are you going to be responsible for me not going bankrupt?”

[Whatwhawha?]

[If you start with such a provocative broadcast from the first one…]

[Just hearing that one line made today’s broadcast worth it]

[Wow]

[What does that even mean]

[It’s fine, I’ll take responsibility]

[If something goes wrong, I’ll take responsibility and make you the top streamer]

[Looks like the funny stuff is starting again]

[They’re bubbling over even in the background….]

[Seeing this, I guess she really is a natural female streamer, she has to be sent to the continent]

“What do you mean take responsibility? I should be the one responsible for you guys.”

The viewers recklessly saying they’ll take responsibility made me laugh without realizing it.
