Many grew up watching fantasy and sci-fi movies.
With the advancement of the times, the quality has steadily increased from miniatures and stop-motion to CG.
Of course, there are cases where real actors would ride horses and take action.
Hiring an enormous number of extras or having fans gathered by enthusiasm, you could see movies being filmed with as few as a thousand to as many as ten thousand people involved.
Spectacular battles among large troops or the sight of massive structures moving, combined with grand OSTs…
People of this era, even the younger ones, have grown up watching such films.
And thanks to that, Wakamou Corporation’s videos were particularly popular.
A world where fantasy has become reality.
Without any editing or CG, you could vividly witness the battles of superhumans flipping the world.
Always providing developments beyond imagination that delighted and excited the fans.
Well, as a result, there were quite a few viewers questioning its connection to VTubers─but its identity remains a Fox Deity VTuber climbing the tower.
This is simply a VTuber Broadcast, not reality, just something to relax and enjoy.
The VTubers of Wakamou Corporation kept racing forward, relentlessly pursuing only the viewers’ dopamine.
Of course, there are viewers who prefer the usual VTuber broadcasts.
However, this time, fans of both categories might lose their minds with happiness.
Some might say the difficulty is too easy.
Perhaps believers would claim that it’s not advanced enough if Wakamou just clicks and it’s over.
The 100,000 Green Skin army is definitely threatening. Even for a climber party of, at most, 10 people, they could easily get crushed by sheer numbers rather than withstand a fight.
What’s more, they were a trained army composed entirely of intelligent soldiers obedient to orders and unaware of fear.
Honestly, this level of brutal difficulty didn’t guarantee success even if one simply charged and fought.
Moreover, the rule of this tower was a [Defense Mission], meaning if Wakamou delivered a blow capable of decimating the entire floor?
The crystal that must be protected is more likely to shatter than to hold out.
Especially since this is a cooperative floor where everyone works together.
If Wakamou were to take over alone, the tower would increase the difficulty accordingly for someone like Wakamou.
Furthermore, Wakamou was also a VTuber and a president.
He would not be someone who deprives his employees, his VTubers, of opportunities to shine.
Boom… Boom…..
The colossal steel object advanced over the desolate moorland that turned barren.
*
“”””We’ll destroy you!!””””
“”””Kroaarrr!!!!””””
They swarm, endless green-skinned monsters push forward from all directions like a rushing tide.
Lightning shoots across the sky, fireballs fly in, and massive boulders are thrown, tracing parabolas.
Monsters resembling running wolves and rhinos, charge at the giant steel pillar, rushing valiantly against an enormous structure that makes them look like mere mice in front of human-made civilization.
Scenes of over 100,000 Orcs fighting bravely, risking death without hesitation, resembled epic battles against a demon king descended upon the earth.
Stepping on the corpses of dying comrades, gritting their teeth, hanging on, desperately climbing to try and snuff out the life at all costs.
The place, once a lush green meadow, turned to wasteland in an instant with 100,000 Green Skins moving, the ground covered in dusty clouds, hidden behind the breath of the earth storming like sandy winds and concealing the army’s presence.
The ever-thickening dust clouds appeared somewhat like clouds themselves.
And, above those clouds, a castle carrying gods moved.
Would a temple at the top of Mount Olympus in ancient times feel like this?
Adelheid’s touch refined Jackson’s [Moving Structure] into something more beautiful, resembling the grandeur of a moving castle in movies.
The [Iron Spider Castle] brought to life by the hands of masters moved its gigantic legs, seemingly ignoring the tiny creatures clinging all over it, determined to go where it wanted.
The crackling sounds along with the wrapped lightning made it feel as if it was blessed by Zeus.
The parade of flames spewing with every step was as glowing hot as the greed calling for human-made destruction.
The civilization crafted by humans, with a heart of present-day idols, moved.
Would there be believers who understand this black comedy of gods squeezed out to move the iron life that seemed to be crafted by them?
The beautiful civilization’s castle, acknowledged by the tower, born from the hands of humanity’s greatest artist and architect, scattered lightning everywhere and engulfed flames, crushing the rushing Green Skin army.
A Goblin or an Orc alone is weak.
But if there are 100,000 of them, even Wakamou would struggle.
The violence in sheer numbers is something you can’t truly grasp until you see it firsthand.
The moving castle still looked as if it were walking on the meadow. That’s how much green covered the ground.
“Isn’t the number decreasing?!!!”
The Mare Pirate, tirelessly throwing rocks piled up in the castle, shouted out, finding it strange no matter how she thought of it.
While the giant spider-castle moved and crushed them and Wakamou’s thunders and flames shot everywhere.
Wakamou, Jiang Yeoul, and Mei, running urgently as transformed lightning, supplied the energy.
Even that wasn’t enough, so each of them kept on using the flame of idols, ensuring the heart at the castle’s core kept burning without stopping.
With continuous explosions and the heat rising, steam was emitted, and Goblins and Orcs clinging to the heat screamed and fell.
But even when they fell, instead of dying, they calmly stood up.
Were they just invulnerable or something?
The Mare Pirate, surveying the battleground in real-time, finally realized Adolf was sitting in the pilot seat.
The button activating the castle’s weaponry was pressed by Adolf. Thus, the artist was utilizing her creation to attack.
Precisely because the artist had personally attacked in accordance with her will, even getting burned black by fire and lightning, or falling from a high place, or being crushed under a huge leg, none were dying!!
“Swap the person in the pilot seat!!!”
Because it was Adolf Lucia’s first tower climbing broadcast, Wakamou set her in the pilot’s seat to highlight her as the protagonist, but this inadvertently led to a sort of great disaster.
Boom─ Boom─ Kaboom─!!
The assortment of magic aiming at the castle’s lower body and leg joints kept on coming.
Though they were [Rare Metals], the accumulated impact couldn’t be withstood, cracks began to appear, and it started to creak.
Hajime Ichigo was supposed to rush over and reform it immediately, but it seemed that even that would be meaningless.
Ten thousand fireballs traversed the sky, aiming at the castle.
A hundred thousand. Out of those, even just the shamans and wizards numbered ten thousand.
Admiring the spectacle like a meteor shower falling from the sky, the Mare Pirate hastily retreated inside the castle.
And with consecutive thundering sounds, the moving fortress heavily swayed.
Not stopping there, the [Wizards] even opened a [Portal] on the castle, beginning their incursion of troops.
The invading Goblins used the corpses of their kin to draw magical arrays with blood, including the inner garden of the castle, enabling them to launch long-range magic.
Screeeeech─!!
-Wow, crazy tactical warfare.
-Are you impressed or something?
-Where’s the leader?!!!
Huge hooks flew at the giant spider legs and tangled. At the end of dozens, no, hundreds of ropes were countless Orcs hanging.
Even Drake was deployed to restrain the legs, pulling them down and trying to topple it in the wrong direction was deftly controlled by Adolf maneuvering the legs to barely maintain balance.
“Wow, these bastards huh?!”
Even when they made eye contact with the Mare Pirate openly standing there.
The Goblin Rogues in stealth completely ignored the Mare Pirate, rushing to infiltrate the castle interior.
If they destroyed the [Guardian Stone], the climbers would lose.
The precise understanding of this conquest method caused the Mare Pirate to click her tongue, pondering whether she should help.
She was at the waist level of the castle.
It was a large external garden serving as a fallback point for Asuka to escape carrying Ichigo if needed.
The role of keeping this place safe emphasized the importance, necessitating the Mare Pirate to anxiously watch from above.
Continuously barraged by relentlessly crossing magic attacks, the castle had already lost much of its beautiful form, and the flames it belched and the lightning it emitted had considerably weakened.
-It’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming!!!
-Ichigo!! There are too many enemies!!
-Just now a Goblin bastard went stealth!!
-No way, they’re climbing up walking???
-They’ve opened a portal to rush through, ridiculous.
-It’s not just the numbers but the strategy that’s overwhelming??
-No choice but to use Wakamou Corporation to encircle and eliminate!
-Do you think that’ll work? Ha!!
The viewers’ chat continued endlessly.
The [Friends] remained worried if Ichigo would be okay.
Despite showcasing incomparable prowess shown earlier, skepticism remained with the [Alchemist] bias. And at the same time, the point that she didn’t show much prowess during the Seoul Recapture operation still lingered.
Being the leader of the FOX team, but simultaneously the weakest, someone who always needed protection and worried fans was Ichigo.
But due to her occupational structure, it was unavoidable, like an inescapable destiny.
Unless a god saves them, overcoming the limitations of [Class] is a tough problem.
And Ichigo had a god.
A deity who always watched over, cared for, and was like a mother beside her idol!
Ichigo, poised with a position where she had reverse-crossed the sharp blades mounted on the [Universal Firearm] purchased expensively from the U.S., closed her eyes.
It seemed like she was concentrating mentally, but it looked more like she was resigned as enemies approached from all sides.
But that was short-lived.
As she opened her eyes, her gaze moved to the side, meeting the invisible camera’s lens.
The profile of Ichigo captured on screen.
How many had detected the presence of invisible cameras until now?
Probably countable on one hand.
Because the illusion obscured, she appeared as [Hajime Ichigo].
Inside, however, was a fully armed climber prepared for combat.
With a click, bullets flew in the direction her muzzle aimed, creating a hole in the head of a hidden Goblin Rogue.
Ichigo’s sight wasn’t particularly good.
In the first place, she wasn’t reliant on her eyes.
Outright closing her eyes, she flamboyantly waved her hands around, pulling the triggers.
Swinging her arms widely with the gun’s recoil, she even displayed her swordsmanship, slashing through the waist of Goblins appearing in mid-air.
Swoosh─!!
Ichigo, without looking at the fiercely flying arrows, ducked, and embedded bullets into an Orc Archer’s heart and head.
With another mechanical click, the extended magazine disengaged from the gun and dropped.
An Orc Fighter, setting an uproar, drew a sword and charged just as Ichigo sought to reload.
With the momentum of the charge, sharp knives stabbed the forehead and nape, spurting blood, causing the Orc Fighter to collapse!!
-Wow, that was awesome.
-Ha, this is an Alchemist!!!
-Alchemists!! Get stronger late game!
-Great job Ichigo! So cool!
-Oh yeah, just like a special forces agent.
-Seriously, right?
-Oh ha ha ha
Ichigo, showcasing the skill of kicking the fallen magazine, transformed it into a metal knife, and knocked it with her foot, saw magazines pop out from her wrist.
Draping custom-made cartridges made from an American alloy like sturdy armor across her arms, Ichigo.
And the secondary arm attached to her wrist moved, auto-reloading the gun with a magazine.
Even in a dual-wielding stance, reloading in this manner, the Goblins tumbled like scarecrows among the hesitating Orcs.
She wasn’t seeing and shooting.
When the Orc Warrior tried to raise his shield to block, she had instinctively realized and targeted his foot, breaking his balance, and the bullet flying into the newly exposed gap took the Orc Warrior’s life.
“Kreeeee!!!”
The sword gripped by the Goblin thrown by an Orc was wrapped with [Mana].
Viewers were shocked that mere Goblins dared to, albeit slightly, envelop mana on a blade.
Yet Ichigo, sweeping with her gun’s muzzle in reverse grip like a Tonfa, struck the Goblin’s sword aside, shattering its jaw.
The falling Goblin was kicked to block the arrow shot by the Orc as Ichigo, leaping like a squirrel, evaded the ascending ground magic, embedding dozens of bullets in the Orc Wizard’s head.
Ducking to dodge the attack from behind, Ichigo fluidly stepped aside as an Orc jabbed, skillfully evading it.
Amid increasing Orcs and Goblins surrounding her, instead of retreating, Ichigo, hanging flasks on her belt, shot the caps to spread a dense toxic mist, dissolving Goblins and Orcs alive without even donning a gas mask, flew around like a spirit.
Yet still, they were numerous.
Even if Ichigo killed 100 per second with her poison, against 100,000… Ichigo didn’t have 100,000 bullets, making victory uncertain.
Simply hold out, and they’d win.
Asuka soared across the sky as commanded by Wakamou, searching for the commander.
Robbing the castle’s mobility, sending light Goblins up on ropes, and shooting them up with catapults arranged below.
And setting up summoning circles allowing portal crossings.
Monsters utilizing strategies far beyond just being smart required swift identification before vulnerabilities could be exploited.
The monster was employing strategies beyond a mere level of cunning, so it was best to identify its weaknesses before they were exposed.
“Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes─!!”
And so, the Mare Pirate, waiting and stomping her feet impatiently, blocked the stairs, anticipating the monsters that would ascend.
Even if a hundred enemies charged together, she would only face up to four at a time with her back against the wall!
But they didn’t come up.
The only path to the [Guardian Stone] was from this place; where had they gone?
Descending would be akin to suicide when Wakamou was waiting below.
Rumble──
At that moment, dust fell over the Mare Pirate’s head.
“…No way?”
As soon as she felt an intimidating presence, she lowered her gaze, and saw Orcs with long spears advancing with shield-bearers.
And atop those Orcs, a Goblin riding piggyback extended its lance, maintaining distance as it began to stab at the elevated Mare Pirate.
The situation was becoming disadvantageous, despite her elevated position, largely because the spears seemed imbued with Mana, likely a buff from a Wizard.
“Seriously, this difficulty spike is insane!!!”
The Mare Pirate transformed her entire body into metal and leaped towards the advancing monsters.
Having received the [Idol’s Blessing] from Wakamou, she didn’t back down.
She twisted spears lunging towards her with the force derived from her sprinting speed, snapping them, and then she slammed a fist into the face of a shield-bearing Orc.
The shield shattered, scattering into pieces.
Behind it, a Goblin Alchemist, hidden under a cloak, held a bomb that began to glow.
Realizing too late, an explosion ensued, filling the fortress with raging flames.
After the battle had started, it was unthinkable that only 15 minutes had passed, and yet the Wakamou Corporation was overwhelmed.
Surpassing the violence in numbers, the synergy shown by the truly formidable army instilled fear even in the viewers.
Monsters with green skin swarmed from every direction.
A horrifying spectacle as they surged forward relentlessly, driving the viewers to a state of panic!
Soon, the camera panned over the fortress.
As if having leveraged catapults to reach the top tower in an instant, an Elite Orc Berserker, armored in full plate, lifted a colossal axe.
Even if it wasn’t the commander level, it was certainly one of the army generals, exuding an indomitable aura as an Elite Boss Monster!
He glimpsed at the [Weapon Mass] that allowed the mages to destroy the fortress and followed the trail of his kin who had already broken through.
Defending this place was none other than the tiny figure of the Artist, Adolf Lucia.
– Isn’t this screwed?
– No, Leader!! Stop running in circles!!!
– Is this for real? Is it really okay?
– This has to be staged, right?
– Asuka is looking for the commander, but there are so many Orcs…
– I thought it was easy, but it’s hopeless.
– Can’t you just wipe them out with an area attack?
– Are you an idiot? That would hit allies and break the Guardian Stone.
– Please think before you speak….
– Isn’t it possible to stash them in a subspace, dammit.
– If that were possible, they wouldn’t be struggling like this.
– Ugh, not one of these ‘Climbers’ flapping their gums.
The situation was hopelessly turning against them, causing the chat to heat up. But mostly, it was newcomers to the broadcast or trolls who just wanted to stir chaos.
On the other hand, the believers who had been watching the broadcast for a long time remained calm and continued to watch without surprise.
After all, they knew well that even if someone were to die, it wouldn’t be to endanger the VTubers. Anyone who was a true fan knew this!!
Even though he had to protect allies against over 100,000 monsters and wasn’t in an advantageous position, the Wakamou Leader always demonstrated to them a perfect clear strategy.
All they had to do was watch.
In a VTuber Broadcast, the essence is in enjoying the reactions rather than giving unsolicited advice.
“[Growl….]”
The Orc Berserker, exhaling rough breaths, advanced toward the cockpit.
Traces of his comrades smashing through everything in sight were scattered everywhere.
However, as he got closer…. the sounds of battle and the cries of his kin were nowhere to be heard, he realized.
The only thing he could hear getting closer was the mad laughter of a crazed maniac as if he was having fun.
The completely smashed door, the darkness where not a single ray of light entered, none of it seemed to incite fear as the Orc Berserker boldly stepped into it.
And there he found a comrade standing with their weapon raised.
Some had put down their weapons, while others stood with their eyes rolling, having discarded their weapons.
Why were they just standing still?
“[U…uh…u..]”
Reaching out his hand, the Orc Berserker watched as his comrade, paralyzed with inexplicable fear, remained immobile.
“Did my work ruin it? Oh oh─ dear intruder, you have no respect for art, do you?”
Adolf Lucia, standing in the cockpit controlling the fortress, welcomed the unexpected guest.
It looked as if the numerous monsters were exhibited like spectators, creating an atmosphere of sinister bizarreness in the dim room.
Moreover, none of them were dead. They stood alive, eyes rolling.
“Are you familiar with ‘Ikizukuri?'”
When an Orc Fighter nudged it, part of the Orc Warrior toppled over in large chunks like a child’s puzzle pieces.
“Even though their entire body is dismembered… they remain alive… think of how vivid they must feel, with the skin holding them together.”
There was no blood flowing from the severed parts.
Only the distinct green skin of the Orcs sealed the cross-sections.
“[Waaaaaa!!]”
The strength of the Warrior’s roar caused what were once artistic pieces of Orcs to fall.
The Orc Berserker, wrapped in a red aura, charged towards Adolf, deploying the [Berserk] Skill and infusing mana into his axe.
“I’ll decorate you to match my palette nicely!!”
A brush touched the paint on the palette in her hand, sketching in the air.
She drew so swiftly that the completed painting dissolved midair.
Upon seeing the picture painted with green paint, the Orc Berserker’s fury miraculously dissipated.
Even though he stood facing the enemy, as soon as he thought he was looking at a different [Material], the axe became too heavy to lift.
“[Graaah!!!]”
Resolving to crush him barehanded, the Orc Berserker charged, but his arms had already been painted with images drawn at a swifter pace.
Even in a berserk state and with a commander’s buff, the Orc Berserker could not even see the afterimages of Adolf’s hands.
Even viewers watching the broadcast couldn’t blink, making it appear as if his arms were painted on.
Chains reminiscent of those binding sinners were painted on his arms, their weight so immense he knelt, unable to maintain his stance.
Boom─ Boom─
The fortress was shaken again, being attacked.
The sculptures that barely stood began to topple, scattering like spilled Lego toys, with body parts mingling chaotically.
Grinding his teeth, the Orc Berserker stood up, aware that reinforcement forces continued to gather behind him.
“Ah…. I forget things of the past and prepare for things to come…. a famous passage, right? The past…. Forget it, meaningless…. Orc Berserker, can you hear it? Whispering? The voice?”
Eyes glowing with a menacing, shadowless light seeped with an eerie aura.
Adolf, with her grinning face, wrapped strings around both hands as she pulled along a coffin that seemed to have been placed there without him realizing, then hoisted it onto her back.
“The pitiful struggles of a discarded artist!! Transforming even death into art!! You need no past to live in the future!! Ahahahaha!!”
His enjoyment seemed evident, laughing as Adolf leaned forward, causing the coffin lid to clang open. A metallic-glossed figure within then awkwardly rose.
A gray-haired, green-eyed Automaton with a shattered wind-up mechanism on its back crawled out of the coffin.
Her old, tattered clothes and scar-ridden face were heavily damaged, and as she dragged herself out, it was evident that a broken-down woman, marred with self-inflicted scars and her neck bound tightly with rope, emerged.
“Did she burst from the coffin, Adelheid!!!”
The Automaton, newly crafted from the scrap metal made by the Engineer’s assault, was so crude that every joint cried out in agony whenever the automaton moved. It was so rusted all over that there wasn’t a single part that seemed unharmed.
“Uselessly crashing! Shattering into bits! Broken and rejected by everything! That’s what Adelheid is for!! Now squirm pathetically till you die!!!”
Adolf hurled the doll, made from her own being, into the Orc Berserker, clashing and forcing them into combat.
When the Orc Berserker, unable even to use his arms, kicked it, Adelheid’s lower half shattered and crumbled.
Yet undeterred, she threw the remaining parts, resulting in the Orc Berserker smashing his head into pieces with a headbutt and letting out a breath.
But there were no breaks to be had; the strings bound to the utterly crushed and unrecognizable Adelheid doll pulled, now tangling around the Orc Berserker instead of Adolf.
“[Graah..?!]”
“It’s lonely by yourself!! Isn’t it?! I’ll trap you right alongside this poor lady destined for the coffin!! Ahahahah!!!”
Unfastening the strings tied to her hands, she forcefully dragged the Orc Berserker into the coffin with the broken and shattered Adelheid.
Unbound strings flailed wildly, wrapping around the coffin until it was entirely sealed.
Even with the Orc Berserker subdued, Goblin Knights continued in their dozens, charging Adolf.
Upon seeing the Knights’ blades imbued with aura charging from the opening, Adolf swung open the bag she was carrying.
Within it, she revealed a home displaying dolls intended to live.
“Art─ [Doll House]”
Upon whispering the name of the masterpiece known as the Doll House, the top floor became utterly vacant.
[Doll House’s] entire space, stacked with dolls, began to twitch as if alive.
Benefits emerged from the penalty of having a physique no different from a regular human.
Certainly─ many conditions, including comprehension, needed to fall into place, which made things disadvantageous against large numbers.
Yet, it didn’t concern her at all.
– Oh dear…..
– This, isn’t publicized with the red pill, is it?
– It’s the rage of Austrians against the Germans.
– Aha!
– Adolf-chan directly makes dolls to give to her friends….
– Would the Orc Berserker in the coffin be happy?
– Can’t resist a free 1:1 doll.
– rlly lololol
– Ugh, it’s really freaking scary. Climbers have all sorts of skills, don’t they.
The top floor swiftly settled.
The fortress began to tilt.
Though Adolf laughed, claiming captains always stayed with their ships─the shattering noise of the glass from the control room was at her back.
Aoi Asuka, in a free fall, transformed into a Unicorn using the [VTuber Model] skill and landed gracefully.
“Unicorn!! It’s time to run for your life!!”
Riding atop the unicorn transformed from Asuka, Adolf placed the coffin on her back.
And with all her power, she stomped on a single button.
The lower part of the moving fortress erupted with a thunderous boom, spewing forth the liquid it had been containing like rain scattering in all directions.
Through Adelheid’s ability, there were no casualties.
Although knocked unconscious due to the immense shock, dying was never an option.
Thus, those fallen upon the ground, unable to evade, were swept away in a pure white wave.
As the lower part of the fortress exploded entirely, those clinging to it were swept by the explosion and submerged in the white sea.
What could she be hiding?
It was plaster that Adolf had sprayed.
The sound of Adolf laughing with exhilaration burst forth as she broke through the control room, riding on Asuka, transformed into a unicorn, crying out in dopamine-fueled triumph.
“Ahahaha!! Behold the naturally born magnificent masterpieces!!!”
It soared.
Adolf’s fame soared skyward, unbounded!!
With countless viewers witnessing the work, her stats were rising to staggering numbers.
“The birth of an artistic masterpiece, recreating Pompeii!! Ah~ Hahahahahah!!!”
The fortress could no longer stand and collapsed.
Numerous statues crumbled to pieces as they were crushed under the falling fortress.
The ‘plaster statues’ of terrified Orcs and Goblins fleeing in desperation spread endlessly in lines.
No one was daunted!!
Even against 100,000, they never backed down.
Covered in poisonous mist and walking out of the crumbling fortress was Hajime Ichigo.
Laughing and smashing monsters into exhibits with her transmuted plaster, Adolf strutted arrogantly down the entrance.
And even the Mare Pirate confidently descended the fortress entrance as well.
Despite the overwhelming number of more than 70,000 monsters remaining, everyone could only shake their heads in admiration.
There wasn’t a single fellow VTuber thinking of retreat.
All they were doing was burning with fiery resolve to fight empowered by the [Idol’s Blessing] buff.
“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!”
With the commander’s scream reverberating across the battlefield, a fierce buff was cast over the entire legion.
It was an intent to crush everything swiftly before anyone could act, but unfortunately, it would have been better not to reveal the commander’s location.
A trio of enormous suns crashed down upon the approximate location, razing the battlefield.
It was coming.
Both the viewers and VTubers instinctively sensed it.
The wreckage of the collapsed fortress was pushed aside from an internal force, and from within, Wakamou walked out with an imposing stride.
Both Asuka, Ichigo, the Mare Pirate, and Adolf simultaneously turned to her.
“Charge!!!”
Once more, an explosion.
Jiang Yeoul, transformed into a tank, rampaged, opening entries, and the allies willingly jumped aboard.
The relentless rumbling engine noise thundered across the rugged wilderness as the four continuous tracks dashed onwards.
Holding the steering wheel of the rampaging vehicle aimed at the commander, Hajime Ichigo slammed the accelerator down hard.
