Chapter 34

The war that determines the very tide of battle, more important than the southern ramparts, was taking place in the central plains.

The plains stretched across the southern front of the Empire and the borders of the Barbarian Country, Pineon.

Thousands of spears and swords clashed. Blood poured like a river.

Duke Yuma gazed over the battlefield.

Conqueror King Kament was wreaking havoc on the field.

“Khahahahahaha!”

The massive sword in Kament’s hand glowed a fierce red.

Swoosh!

A chilling sound pierced the battlefield as an Imperial knight fell to the ground, turned into a pile of meat.

Two Imperial knights rushed in one after the other.

They exchanged a glance, and simultaneously extended their swords. A near-perfect synchronized attack.

But an even more perfect sword path gleamed right between their attack.

Kament’s massive sword stood tall between a spear and sword.

“Die! You fools who don’t know your place! Khahahahahaha!”

As Kament swung down his sword, the two knights who firmly held their weapons tilted downward.

“Uh…!”

The moment of confusion led to a gruesome result.

Slash!

As Kament swung his massive sword sideways, the upper bodies of the two knights were sent sprawling at an angle. Their bodies crashed into the muddy ground.

“Boring! So boring! Is this all the Empire has to offer?”

Someone stepped forward beside Duke Yuma. It was Marquis Tornel.

“Kament!”

Tornel shouted the name of his nemesis as he charged in. His eyes were bloodshot.

“Yes—! You should come to me, Tornel!!”

Kament’s voice suddenly twisted at the end. Fur erupted from both of his hands, muscles and flesh bulging out.

His mane grew longer and denser, like a lion’s.

He awakened the power of his lion hybrid bloodline.

“If you were hiding by the Great General’s side, you must be terribly disappointed! Destroyer Tornel!”

Now Kament’s voice diverged from human sounds. Each word was a beastly roar. And among those beasts, it was the roar of a top apex predator— a lion.

Yuma used Search Eye to gaze directly at Kament.

[Lv.146] Kament

[Lv.147] Kament

His level was rising in real-time.

[Lv.149] Kament

And once it seemed like the rise had finished, his level stabilized.

[Lv.152] Kament

He had ultimately surged to a level equal to the Sword God Chronos.

Kament’s massive sword clashed with Tornel’s gigantic axe.

Kament’s crimson aura collided with Tornel’s indigo aura.

Boom─────!

Dust billowed from the ground.

On the battlefield of war, the golden horizon shook as if it were flipped upside down.

‘He certainly wasn’t this strong just yesterday…!’
“Didn’t see that coming…!”

Tornel’s arms, gripping the axe, trembled violently.

The overwhelming weight. He could clearly feel the tremendous power behind Kament’s counterattack.

The enormous weight of Kament’s massive sword, descending downward, caused Tornel’s steed to snap its neck. Its legs shattered.

Crack!

Tornel’s horse was thrown to the ground without a whimper.

Without panicking, Tornel rolled his body and grabbed his spear again.

It was a seasoned judgement and action befitting a battle-hardened veteran. However, Kament’s battle instinct, awakened by the blood of the lion tribe, transcended humanity.

A flash of red struck Tornel’s upper body.

“Ugh!”

The sound of armor shattering echoed. A mouthful of dark red blood spurted from Tornel. The marquis was now crashed into the distance.

Yuma quickly scanned the battlefield.

The situation was dire. The Astes Empire’s forces were clearly on the back foot.

The warriors of the barbarian nation, Pineon, were undeniably overwhelming. They formed solid ranks, and matched the Empire’s soldiers’ formations perfectly, breaking through with sheer brute force.

One barbarian warrior plunged his sword straight into the heart of an imperial knight.

The warrior from the barbarian nation, having silenced the imperial knight, shouted proudly.

“The knights of the Empire lack ambition! They have no manly spirit! Hahahaha!”

It was the difference between the dulled blades of the Empire’s troops, soaked through with prolonged rest, and the barbarian nation, with an insatiable thirst for the enemy’s blood.

“Stay down, Marquis Tornel.”

Yuma, issuing the command for Tornel to stay put, gripped the reins tightly.

Thudthudthudthud!

The massive black steed, Hector, began to charge forward.

Swish—

Yuma pulled out the [Aksion], the sword of his master, Chronos, from the spatial pocket.

Kament narrowed his eyes.

With gray hair and blueish eyes, the God of War Yuma was walking toward him.

Hector’s dark fur flowed gracefully in the wind.

“God of War…!”

The Conqueror King Kament felt a surge of excitement rising from his toes.

Both tension and pleasure overwhelmed his brain.

Battle, war.

It was the sensation that made Kament feel alive.

The thrill that came from life hanging by a thread. Slaughtering foes and seizing the territory they stood upon. That was Kament’s reason for living.

“God of War! I thought you were too scared to move!!”

The blood-red cloak, drenched in the color of one’s own blood, floared fiercely over Kament’s armor.

Yuma scanned the countless fallen Empire soldiers sprawled around Kament.

Far too many casualties had already occurred. Further losses were meaningless.

While atop the colossal black horse, Hector, Yuma slowly spoke.

“Come, Conqueror King.”

Kament’s lips curled into a bright smile at the deep, pressure-laden tone.

God of War.

He could not say how well he matched that grand title, but the aloofness he currently portrayed certainly seemed to fit the bill.
It’s hard to tell how well-matched they are, but this damn noble aura definitely made them seem close to a God of War.

Kament signaled the giant wolf, Fenris, to charge.

Hector and Fenris rushed towards each other.

The red aura of Kament’s great sword blazed up.

Kament raised the great sword high.

Kiiiiiiing!

What Yuma saw was the most brilliant and dense sword aura he’d ever witnessed.

The swordsmanship of Chronos flowed like a graceful wave, a deadly blade that would cut the breath out of anything before it.

In contrast, Kament’s sword aura looked like a stubborn lightning strike.

A lightning that could crush anything that came into contact with it.

Kwarrrrrrung─!

The red lightning-shaped sword aura erupted from the tip of the great sword, covering the sky like an aurora.

“Die!! God of War! Cursing that audacious name! Khahahaha!”

Kament imagined Yuma being split in half.

Not just Yuma’s own body, but also the black horse Hector he rode on, sliced clean in two.

He had no doubt that this moment of imagination would soon become reality.

He was convinced that the strike of the great sword—[Fierce Rage] would not return without result.

Yuma faced the red sword aura descending like the sun.

[Ultra Focus]

The light in Yuma’s eyes shone brightly. He found the parrying point for [Fierce Rage].

It was none other than the very tip of the great sword’s blade.

There wasn’t a single doubt in his judgment.

He swung [Aksion].

Kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!

His arm felt like it was about to shatter. However, there was no fear in Yuma’s eyes.

Because he had certainly succeeded in the ‘parry.’

The golden circular impact that indicated successful parrying burst forth with the swirling dust.

Kiiiiiiing!!

The gigantic lightning-shaped sword aura tilted like a crescent moon.

<Absolute Counter─Divide Disaster>

Two red lightning bolts shot up on either side of the red crescent.

[Absolute Counter─Divide Disaster: A counterattack. It can be activated similarly to [Absolute Counter] upon successful parrying. Upon parrying, it can strike up to 2 enemies with the same attack power as [Absolute Counter], excluding the original target.]

The path of the crescent had already been decided. Yuma quickly thought about where the two lightning bolts should go.

The extremities of the Conqueror King Kament.

The areas where the Imperial Army had clearly overwhelmed and captured their stronghold. He designated the massive warriors standing at the front of both sides.

Kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!

“……!”

Kament stared in horror at the bizarrely twisted red crescent rising up.

Kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!

The massive Fenris and Kament’s body were swept away by the crescent, with no time to understand the principle behind it.

They had no chance for instinctive movement to defend themselves.
Without a moment to move.

The view exploded into red.

The crimson blade of flame swallowed Camet’s entire body and passed through.

Ku──────ung!

Conqueror King Camet and his steed Fenris collapsed to the ground. The heart of the conquering king, who charged across the vast land, came to a stop.

Whether he had gone to Valhalla, a dream he cherished, or simply to the hell of the dead, no one could tell.

The outburst of red blades that began at the God of War Yuma was not the end.

Kugugugugugugugugugugugugu─!!

Red blades of storm erupted on either side.

They crossed.

The battlefield.

Two streams of crimson storm.

Kwaaaaaaaa!!

As the ground was swept away, countless rock fragments and debris scattered.

“…God of War.”

The first commander, the great warrior Luke, muttered dazedly, completely enveloped in red.

The azure blade he conjured was silenced. Every member of his legion standing behind the great warrior Luke was pierced through by the red storm.

The first legion, which had slaughtered the most imperial soldiers on this land, approximately 300 men, vanished from this world just like that.

The full power of Conqueror King Camet.

No warrior capable of bearing ten times that power existed on this land.

The fifth commander, great warrior Loken, had no intention of giving up until the end.

“Everyone, unleash your final strikes! Draw out all the aura in your bodies! Break that storm!!”

At the swordmaster Loken’s command, all the sword experts of intermediate rank and above under him swung their final strikes. Countless swords of energy.

However.

Kwaaaaaa!!

All the blades, nearly a hundred, were simply devoured by the red dragon. The crimson storm swept over the right side’s legion like a living dragon.

A hushed silence pressed down on the battlefield.

The soldiers of the Astes Empire and the warriors of the barbarian nation Pineon slowly turned their heads simultaneously.

The source where three calamities spread from.

They all gazed there.

Standing there was a man. Solely atop a massive black steed.

Yuma slowly opened his mouth.

“The Conqueror King of Pineon, Camet, is dead.”

The gazes of tens of thousands of Pineon warriors turned coldly toward their king, now a lifeless corpse.

“Drop your weapons and surrender.”

Just two words.

Clatter─

Clang─

Boom─

Swords and spears dropped.

To shout the pride of the barbarian nation was far too overwhelming given the display he had just shown.

The pride of the barbarian nation no longer resided in their eyes.

Thud─

Tens of thousands of barbarian warriors began to kneel in succession. Those proud warriors, without a hint of hesitation.

Thud─

Fear.

Confronted with martial prowess far beyond that of humans, the barbarian warriors’ eyes held nothing but profound terror.
