Chapter 0

Heroine

She is an existence destined to be connected to the protagonist, capable of greatly changing the world around them, whether big or small.

There’s no way I could be intertwined with someone born with such a tremendous fate…

…so thought he in his childhood.

But that was purely his delusion.

The sun shone warmly in the academy’s hallway.

Right now, a tense buzz was filling the air.

Some were holding their breath, some were whispering, and others wore expressions full of awe.

In their line of sight stood a boy and a girl.

A girl with pale blue hair like a winter day and dark blue eyes.

Her beautiful appearance seemed like a masterpiece crafted with utmost dedication, as cold and expressionless as ice.

Nearby, a boy with a gentle demeanor was accepting greetings from those around him.

With light brown hair reminiscent of hazelnuts and emerald green eyes visible beneath thick horn-rimmed glasses.

Overall, he gave off an impression of being harmless.

If I had to sum up that impression in one word, it would be just that.

After a while, they crossed the bustling crowd and arrived at a wide, sparsely populated hallway, stopping in front of a large door.

The boy turned the handle and opened the door, and as it swung open, the girl stepped inside with clack-clack sounds of her steps.

Across a room that was unbelievable in its size, the girl took her seat at her desk.

And then…

“Ugh… this is tiring.”

With a weary voice, the girl rested her feet on the desk.

It was a sight that seemed completely at odds with the chilly atmosphere she had just exuded.

“Hey… what do you think someone will say if they see you like this?”

Watching the girl’s appearance, the boy let out a short sigh.

Steel Duchess, Lagrind family’s Vampire, Cold-Blooded Witch…

Her titles were all terrifying to the core.

But looking at her now, none of those names suited her at all.

“You’re here so it won’t happen, right?”

“Honestly…”

Why is it that when they’re alone, she acts so laid-back when she’s usually the epitome of perfection?

With a confused expression, the boy scratched his head and handed the papers he had been holding to the girl with another short sigh.

“Here, the documents for this week. I’ve taken care of what I can handle.”

“Thanks.”

The girl winked and accepted the papers from the boy, and in response, he chuckled.

“What do you mean thanks? We’re childhood friends, after all.”
