Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Having over 10 years of experience in household chores, this was a piece of cake for me. Threads and fabric sliced through the air, and in an instant, clothes began to take shape. It really felt like they were being whipped up in a flash.

“Phew—.”

Once finished, I wiped my brow and checked out the final piece. The materials were nothing but black fabric, yet what emerged was a snazzy uniform adorned with flamboyant decorations. An ordinary person would have their eyes popping out in shock, but not me. In the world of comedy, this was just routine.

“With this, I shouldn’t get any complaints.”

I carefully packed away the clothes and trotted out of the room towards the lab where Odil was holed up.

“What’s going on—…huh?”
“I gave some tailoring a shot… What do you think, Lord Odil?”
“This is…”
“This is what you’re wearing today! Once you don this, you’ll look twice, no—three times the greatness!”
“Such clothes… did I have these in my house?”
“Of course you did!”
“Hmm…”

Odil, apparently liking the dapper uniform, snatched it up.

“I’ll try it on.”
“Yes! I’ll be right here waiting!”

Odil sauntered into another room, and left alone, I gazed at the desk he had just occupied.

“So, this is the communication mirror.”

I knew it had a fancy title, but couldn’t remember all the little details. The mirror was still inactive, showing a reflection of the room inside. Later, when it was turned on, it would probably display the exact same view of the room.

“Alright, now that the clothes are done…”

I placed my hands on my hips and surveyed the disaster zone that was my room. Thanks to my last cleaning spree, the dark red carpet and wallpaper were spotless, but everywhere else looked like a tornado hit. I wasn’t even mad; messy situations were quite common in the Comedy World.

“Shall I start cleaning?”

A cloud of fine white dust erupted, and a cacophony of sounds echoing like a construction zone filled the room—clang! bang! crash! What a racket!

At that moment, as the white cloud of dust filled the room, Odil, strolling in relaxed with his new outfit, was absolutely startled by the noise. He stiffened and darted into the room with a face like a deer caught in headlights.

“What in the world is going on here?!”

Swish.

As he entered, the white dust settled instantly, revealing what looked like a vintage dark wizard’s lair.

“Gasp…?!”

Unlike before, the room sparkled in shades of black. Odil’s lab had transformed into a masterpiece that could have come off the set of an interior design game. The catch? He had never brought any of this furniture in.

“W-what is all this?! You… where did you get these?!”
“Huh? They were all here!”
“How on earth could they be here?!”
“Well… they were in the pile of stuff…”
“No way, those don’t come from that pile!”

As he mentioned, the celestial model hanging from the ceiling was as big as the pile it supposedly originated from. It was absurd to think that the stunning furniture and decorations we now saw had emerged from that chaos. Yet, it was commonplace in the Comedy World.

“But… they were here?”

As I tilted my head in genuine confusion, Odil threw up his hands in defeat.

“Haah… fine. I won’t ask where you got them. Just get out of the room!”
“Yes…”

Feigning defeat, I left the room and immediately pressed myself against the door, trying to stifle my laughter.

Creak, I carefully cracked the door open to peek inside.

“Hehehe… this is my laboratory?”

The moment I stepped out, Odil plopped down in a vintage chair at the desk with the mirror, grinning like a kid with a new toy, striking a pose as if he were a mighty wizard. I could practically see his ego inflate from outside the door. Silently, I closed it.

“This should do nicely.”

Even if more experiments cropped up after this, whatever happened, happened.

“Wow, working for the first time in ages really tires me out. Time for a break.”

Stretching my sore body, I ambled back to my room. At that moment, I had no inkling of how today’s little act of kindness would come full circle.
