Chapter: 292
A book explaining the basics of magic that was written and published by Encia. The Cientia Basic Magic Theory brought a tremendous shock to the magical society of Procyon.
For wizards who have been using the single magic they were born with and transforming it into various forms, the theory that magic can manifest in diverse ways depending on their will turned their common sense on its head.
Some wizards couldn’t put the book down despite its content, while others began earnestly verifying its contents.
“There’s chaos all over Procyon.”
“Well, that makes sense.”
Encia was enjoying a leisurely afternoon tea with Cecil.
Although it was a calm moment for the person who had turned Procyon upside down, what could be done?
Not only were all the woodblock-printed books sold out, but there were even rumors circulating among some wizards that they were copying and sharing the books.
Having developed a disciple named Cecil and published a book summarizing those achievements, Encia no longer felt the need to do anything further.
“Those who fail to accept the contents of this book will be filtered out, while those who do will rise to even higher levels. Now I finally understand what Tia meant when she said it was a test for wizards.”
“You mean it’s a test like a sieve to filter out the wizards?”
“Yeah, exactly.”
What’s the point of merely using the magic you were born with? What’s the value of taking in apprentices who wield similar magic and teaching them to create different forms?
It would make no sense at all.
All the wizards of Procyon will once fall apart and lose their form, then be reassembled and become new wizards.
Those who only use the one magic they were born with will fade away, leaving only the true wizards behind.
That… is what Tia desires.
“Now that I’ve finished the book… I want to take a break and reduce my public activities for a while.”
“Huh? You’re taking a break? With the book being such a hot topic, you could probably make a fortune just by telling a few stories where people are looking for you!”
“I made a lot of money before writing the book. I already have enough to last a lifetime.”
Making it rain where it never rains has indeed become a lucrative business.
It’s now widely known that it’s far more reliable to pay a weather wizard than to construct a vast altar for a rain-making ritual.
If you were to compile a list of the richest wizards in Procyon, Encia would undoubtedly make the cut.
“But why are so many people clamoring for your advice?”
“It’s annoying.”
“Excuse me?!”
“I think I can finally understand Tia’s sentiments. It’s just annoying. Everything is a bother.”
Perhaps because she had completed a long-cherished goal, Encia felt increasingly wearied by everything.
Although she was already somewhat lazy, her lethargy worsened after finishing the book.
“So, I’m leaving the rest to you, Cecil. Unless it’s something too enormous for you to handle… I prefer not to get involved.”
Cecil expressed concern, observing Encia’s listless tone.
“But… won’t the other wizards leave you alone?”
“Leave me alone, huh…”
“There are still many who don’t fully grasp the book. Aren’t they likely to come and confront you?”
“If a wizard is so incompetent that he would come questioning me without understanding the book, I could easily kick him out of your line.”
“Out of my line?”
Encia nodded at Cecil.
To Encia’s eyes, Cecil appeared to be a wizard of considerable skill.
In fact, only an elder-level wizard would stand a chance at competing with Cecil’s magical prowess.
“How could someone like me…?”
“You are stronger than you think.”
However, Cecil lacked confidence in his abilities. Despite having observed plenty of other wizards’ magic, he couldn’t find his own self-assurance.
The source of this likely ties back to Cecil’s origins.
A girl who was not a wizard but was born a slave.
One might say she remained trapped in the memories of being a frail, scrawny child with nothing to her name.
Despite growing into a respectable wizard under Encia’s mentorship, her thoughts had yet to change.
Observing her disciple, Encia let out a small sigh.
“To be honest, I don’t think anyone could handle you unless they were an elder-level wizard.”
“How could someone like me…? My magical capacity is extremely small.”
“Magic power isn’t everything. While others might conjure flames the size of a fist, you’re capable of summoning flames larger than a person’s.”
“Well, that’s true, but…”
“With your unique ability to draw upon the magical energy inherent in nature, your magic doesn’t even compare to that of other wizards. Sooner or later, everyone else’s magic will become like ours, but not just yet.”
After saying this, Encia lightly ruffled Cecil’s hair and continued.
“So, have confidence. You’re stronger than you believe.”
“Yes…!”
As Cecil mustered the courage to respond, Encia couldn’t help but smile softly.

Wizard.
Those who shape magical energy through will to create various phenomena.
Their existence has been confirmed from ancient times when Procyon was known as Babel.
They initially could wield magic by instinct but lacked understanding, as they didn’t grasp the true nature of magical energy.
Wizards who only regarded primitive elemental transformations as magic are now referred to as “magic users,” a term that implies they are foolish individuals who simply employ magic without researching it.
The age dominated by such mere magic users ended because of one single wizard.
The name of that wizard, who employed an extraordinarily different form of magic compared to other wizards of the time, was Encia.
She gained immense fame as a powerful wizard who could manipulate the weather, but more significantly, she established the foundational theories of all magic herself.
Because of her presence, primitive magic underwent a massive transformation.
…
Thus, the Basic Magic Theory she completed conveyed new knowledge to many wizards, but very few were able to fully understand and embrace the theory.
Most wizards began applying her theories to develop their own optimized magical doctrines.
This became the catalyst for the establishment of various schools of thought, each driven by their own goals.
Remarkably, the author of this book, Encia, did not form her own school but only took on a single disciple.
Her name was Cecilia Marigold.
She would later rise to fame as a great wizard, swearing to gather all the world’s knowledge as the founder of the Grand Library.

I can feel my consciousness, which had been deeply dormant, slowly beginning to awaken.
How much time has passed? I had mentioned to Encia that I would wake up in decades, but I can’t help but worry since, at minimum, it’s probably been several decades.
I lifted my heavy eyelids, feeling as though they weighed a thousand pounds, and slowly surveyed my surroundings.
The room appeared no different from when I fell asleep. Amongst the temples in the Pantheon, it was my personal bedroom.
Well, although it’s called a bedroom, it’s a rather bleak sight with just the one bed. Anyway.
I pulled out my watch to check how many years had gone by.
The numerals on the clock indicated that fourteen years had passed, a far swifter duration than I had anticipated for my slumber.
Hmm. I thought I’d be sleeping for about 30 years… but I’ve surprisingly woken up rather quickly.
Well, it shouldn’t be too bad. I’ve somewhat shaken off the drowsiness. It feels like it’s time to move around a bit.
So, I casually fumbled around the pillow and picked up the LD I had set aside.
There are numerous tasks at hand, but let’s start by checking on Encia.
I wonder how Encia is faring? Did she accomplish what I instructed her to do?
With that curiosity simmering, the scene that unfolded on the turned-over LD was…
“Hmm. This isn’t too bad either.”
Encia lay among the books, dressed comfortably with dozens piled on a fluffy bed, engrossed in reading.
Uh, um… What on earth is going on? What transpired while I was asleep?
No, more importantly, what happened to the homework I assigned? I told her to organize the knowledge I provided into a book?! Did she even do it properly?! From the looks of Encia now, it seems like there’s no way she could have!
Suppressing my rising anxiety, I called out to Encia.
“Shia?”
