Chapter 25: The Blood Puppet Master
At that moment, Liu Shunyi was devoid of any fear.
On the contrary, his killing intent was practically spilling out.
“Zizi…”
His spiritual energy surged, enveloping him in a cloak of thunder.
Even his magical wooden sword floated nearby, as if it were waiting for the signal to pounce.
Ji Suying sensed something was off, her instincts kicking in.
She quickly followed Liu Shunyi’s gaze.
And there it was.
He was fixated on a man who sported a tiny patch of hair beneath his nose, his expression and grin all too lecherous.
The guy was short, sporting only a small tuft of hair on top of his head.
He looked bizarre; while technically human, he also seemed like something out of a nightmare.
“Junior brother, do you have a grudge against this person?”
Ji Suying asked.
Liu Shunyi’s gaze was sharp.
His demeanor grave.
“If he’s truly that kind of person, then yes, there’s definitely a grudge! A blood feud!”
As he spoke, Liu Shunyi took a step forward.
Ji Suying quickly blocked him.
“Junior brother, don’t let your hatred cloud your judgment. This guy is at the Foundation Establishment Peak, and he’s a Blood Puppet Master. Who knows how many blood puppets he has at his side? If you go charging in there, you’ll be looking for death. But don’t worry, since he’s your nemesis, I’ll surely take care of him myself.”
Liu Shunyi’s stubbornness kicked in.
“No, I want to kill him myself.”
Ji Suying shook her head.
“No way. This guy is from the Heavenly God Sect. Our sect wouldn’t dare provoke them recklessly. If you kill him, trouble will follow. Let me handle this; whatever the Heavenly God Sect is, I’m not afraid.”
Liu Shunyi furrowed his brows.
“Heavenly God Sect? Are they all like this?”
Ji Suying nodded.
“Pretty much!”
Liu Shunyi suddenly laughed.
“Hmm, hehehe, hahaha… Good, fantastic!”
He now trembled with excitement.
This was the cultivation world.
As long as he had the strength, he could finally do what he had always wanted to do.
And to hear that there were many people like this? How could Liu Shunyi not be thrilled!
At this moment, Ji Suying looked uneasy, her anger simmering beneath the surface.
Because she had heard of the abominable deeds of the Heavenly God Sect.
Many nefarious cultivation techniques were supposedly created by them.
The major sects hadn’t found evidence to strike against them, so they had no reason to eliminate the Heavenly God Sect.
Strangely enough, every time Ji Suying encountered a member of the Heavenly God Sect, a deep-seated dislike would well up inside her. Many times, she wanted to lash out and eliminate their disciples directly.
But due to her position in Qinglian Sect, she had held herself back.
Yet now, Liu Shunyi was remarkably calm.
“Senior sister, since this person is from the Heavenly God Sect, shouldn’t we condemn him for openly using these vile methods?”
Ji Suying shook her head.
“He’s merely a Foundation Establishment Peak disciple; his status isn’t high enough. Plus, the Heavenly God Sect has no shame. If this really is one of their disciples, and his plan succeeds, they will own it, but if it fails, they will deny everything. There’s no way to pin it on them!”
Liu Shunyi nodded.
Afterward, both fell silent.
Almost like the silent agreement before a storm.
Chen Qiaoli, however, stepped forward and silently handed Liu Shunyi a magical artifact, the Demon-Slaying Staff.
“This item seems to work well against evil cultivators.”
Liu Shunyi took the staff and quickly thanked her.
“Thank you, sister!”
Chen Qiaoli waved her hand dismissively and retreated back among the crowd.
————
As time passed, all the Outer Disciples of Qinglian Sect regrouped.
After assembling, they started tallying the casualties.
Originally, over three hundred Outer Disciples had gone down.
Now, after a single wave of assault, only about seventy remained.
And those seventy were either badly injured or nearly incapacitated.
Some, like Liu Shunyi, had hidden from the start; while they were unhurt, their faces were ashen, completely incapable of rejoining the fight.
Meanwhile, outside Kangzhuang City, the Foundation Establishment disciples of Qinglian Sect began returning to the flying ship after cleaning up the blood puppets.
But Ji Suying and the leading elder remained tense.
Chen Qiaoli shared in that tension too.
Because her gaze was firmly locked on that grotesque midget!
Especially when she saw his squinting eyes, emanating a sort of laugh that was unsettling.
Liu Shunyi felt something was odd.
“Something’s not right! I feel like this creepy thing is stalling for time! They must have some sort of plan!”
Liu Shunyi quickly shared his instinct with Ji Suying.
Ji Suying incessantly tapped her sword sheath with her fingers, eyes narrowed as she studied the little guy.
“That’s also why I haven’t made a move yet. My team is investigating what that little creep is up to, or what the Heavenly God Sect’s real plan is!”
While they spoke, suddenly, a blue butterfly descended from the sky.
Ji Suying extended her finger out, and the butterfly effortlessly landed on it.
But the next moment, Ji Suying’s expression darkened!
“What a splendid Heavenly God Sect! What a marvelous Kangzhuang City!”
Without detailing things to Liu Shunyi, she hurried in front of the elder and whispered a few urgent words.
Just then, they started arguing.
Liu Shunyi didn’t catch all the specifics of their quarrel.
His focus remained solely on that little guy.
But at that moment, Liu Shunyi’s Great Dao Golden Scroll began to vibrate again.
The golden brush started writing anew.
“Qingteng Elder, Purple Quality!”
Liu Shunyi was stunned, eyes wide, staring at the Qingteng Elder who was looking back at him.
“He wants to kill me? Why?”
The Qingteng Elder noticed Liu Shunyi’s gaze and smiled faintly before resuming his heated argument with Ji Suying.
Time seemed to stretch.
Finally, Ji Suying returned to Liu Shunyi’s side, her face flushed with anger.
“What happened?”
Liu Shunyi asked.
Taking a deep breath, Ji Suying replied, “My people have discovered that our Qinglian Sect’s earth veins seem to be gradually draining. It’s a minuscule amount, barely noticeable, and we couldn’t pin down a cause before. But now, considering the situation with Kangzhuang City, it seems linked.”
“I told the Qingteng Elder to seize Kangzhuang City at once, but he said it’s a major matter and that we shouldn’t act rashly. Without evidence of Shi Changxin’s whereabouts, capturing this mastermind would render the task meaningless. As for my intel, he accused me of alarmism.”
Liu Shunyi frowned.
“May I ask, besides this, did you all discuss anything else?”
Ji Suying looked puzzled as well.
“The Qingteng Elder asked why I was staring at the Blood Puppet Master. I simply replied that I had a grudge!”
Liu Shunyi’s expression turned icy.
He was now convinced of one thing.
That Qingteng Elder was definitely someone who was living the good life.
“Senior sister, you have a voice in this!”
Ji Suying paused in confusion.
“I do!”
Liu Shunyi declared firmly.
“Give the order for everyone to attack! Annihilate Kangzhuang City! And keep an eye on the Qingteng Elder!”
Ji Suying instantly grasped his intent.
“Understood!”
