Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Have I Hit a Bad Spell?

Every time it was salary day, Shen Kaiyang was the happiest guy around.

Why?

Because all the servant disciples’ salaries were in his hands.

At this time, Shen Kaiyang often made a trip down the mountain to Zui Chun Building to enjoy a night out.

Today was no exception.

Before he even arrived at Zui Chun Building, the girls outside were already rushing over to greet him.

“Hey, Shen, it’s been ages! We missed you like crazy!”

Their sweet, flirty voices had a way of melting him.

Shen Kaiyang was equally thrilled.

“Come on, come on, today I want five of you!”

With that, he tossed his storage bag to the madam.

The madam was over the moon.

“Of course! Please, right this way!”

…………

After finishing his meal, Shen Kaiyang swaggered out of the room and was greeted by five dazzling ladies looking at him with sultry eyes.

“Come on, Shen!”

“Can we? I’m starving here~”

Shen Kaiyang laughed heartily.

“Alright, I just learned a new technique recently, so today you’ll get to experience it fully!”

As soon as he finished speaking, he lunged forward.

“Ugh!”

But the next second, Shen Kaiyang was dumbfounded.

A wave of indescribable fatigue hit him like a truck, leaving him unable to move.

“Shen, are you okay?”

The ladies rushed to inquire, concern etched on their faces.

He waved his hand dismissively.

“I’m fine, I’m fine!”

Then, he popped a pill.

In an instant, his energy was restored.

“Let’s go, my little darlings… hmm…”

Just as he got back up, his body went limp again.

“What the heck is going on?”

Completely baffled, Shen Kaiyang took another pill.

He wasn’t going to pay any attention to the girls this time.

And lo and behold, soon enough, that annoying fatigue came rushing back.

“Am I cursed or something?”

Shen Kaiyang didn’t buy it.

He popped another pill.

But the more he took, the more exhausted he felt.

“What the heck is happening?”

“Why do I feel like I just plowed a hundred acres of land?”

Panicking, Shen Kaiyang wasted no time and dashed back to the Qinglian Sect, popping pills like they were candy.

The five ladies were left speechless.

“Is this Shen guy this weak?”

“Just a little touch and he’s out of breath?”

They exchanged glances, then burst into laughter.

——————

As soon as Shen Kaiyang returned to the sect, he let out a miserable scream.

His meridians felt like they were tearing apart, and his skin started cracking!

Blood soaked through his clothes.

Shen Kaiyang was terrified, running to his cousin.

“Cousin, help me!”

And just like that, he passed out.

……

……

The next morning, Liu Shunyi glanced at the dim name “Shen Kaiyang” with some sadness.

But Liu Shunyi had done a bit of thinking about it yesterday.

The brightness of the name likely indicated the status of that guy.

If the names were bright, that meant they were in top shape.

And if they were dim? Not so much.

Yesterday, Shen Kaiyang’s name had been twinkling, so he assumed the guy was recuperating from taking pills.

However, it was quite unfortunate.

Shen Kaiyang’s name hadn’t brightened up at all.

Since Shen Kaiyang was down for the count, Liu Shunyi felt reluctant to push himself too hard.

Because the Dao Golden Scroll would transfer any negative states he had to Shen Kaiyang the moment it wrote the name.

Liu Shunyi really feared Shen Kaiyang kicking the bucket.

“Man, who’d believe it? I’m actually worried about my enemy!”

With a sigh of resignation, Liu Shunyi had to go ask the servant manager for a day off.

————

Not long after, Liu Shunyi arrived at the servant manager’s office.

The manager was sitting there, book over his face, arms crossed.

Liu Shunyi cleared his throat, punctuating the silence.

“Manager, I’d like to take a day off for some business!”

Upon hearing him, the manager peeled the book off his face and peeked at Liu Shunyi.

“Humph, you’ve been here how long and still don’t know the rules?”

Liu Shunyi felt a bit rueful.

“Manager, can you let it slide just this once? You know Shen Shixiong came by yesterday.”

The manager merely placed the book over his face again.

“Scram!”

“Okay, okay!”

Not daring to say another word, Liu Shunyi turned and left.

But once he was outside, he couldn’t help muttering curses under his breath.

When the manager’s gaze turned towards him again, Liu Shunyi quickly plastered on a smile.

Then he hurried away.

……

……

Back in the servant quarters, Liu Shunyi was again called over by the head servant.

As he looked at the mountain of clothes piled up, he was left dumbfounded.

“You need to wash all these disciple outfits within three days.”

Liu Shunyi gaped.

“This many? Just me?”

The head servant chuckled.

“What’s wrong? Not willing?”

As he said this, he unleashed his Qi Refinement Fourth Stage powers!

Liu Shunyi quickly responded, “Oh come on, how could I not be willing? I’m more than happy to do it!”

The head servant snorted.

“That’s more like it!”

“Oh, and it better be done in three days. If it’s not, you know the consequences!”

Liu Shunyi nodded furiously.

“Got it, got it!”

He wore a grin on his face, but in his heart, he couldn’t help cursing!

‘Just you wait! One day, I’ll write your name in that Dao Golden Scroll!’

Just then, the Dao Golden Scroll trembled again.

The pages flipped, and the brush hovered down.

“Cui Hao!”

Liu Shunyi: “???”

What the heck just triggered that?

Wait a sec.

Looking at the pile of clothes, he suddenly had an idea.

“So, if someone does something threatening to my life, that’s when I can write their name?”

“And I just have to think it in my head, right?”

Liu Shunyi felt a bit uncertain.

But whatever.

Finally, he had someone else to take on the negative states!

With that, Liu Shunyi kicked back into his manic behavior.

With his enhanced stamina and Qi Refinement Second Stage cultivation, he dove into the task of washing those clothes without a care in the world.

The results were phenomenal.

Three days’ worth of clothes?

Liu Shunyi finished it all in just a day and a night!

And he discovered something.

That head servant really had some stamina.

After his entire day and night of hard labor, he finally managed to drain all the light off Cui Hao’s name.

Compared to Shen Kaiyang, Cui Hao seemed like just a lazy bum!

This thing could even gauge someone’s physique?

Plus, he wasn’t even feeling sleepy now!

What the heck, was hunger not considered a negative state?

“I’m starving!”

Liu Shunyi hurried off to the dining hall to eat.

But what Liu Shunyi didn’t know was,

Just as he left the servant quarters, Cui Hao was gripping the doorframe tightly.

With dark circles under his eyes, he stumbled out of his room, pale and utterly baffled.

“Why do I feel like I haven’t slept at all? And how come when I woke up, I feel all sore and weak?”
