Chapter 146: Is There a Demonic Aura in the Imperial Garden?
“Yingyingying~~~”
As Qin Bei chased, he could still hear the whimpering sounds of the little man ahead.
Although he didn’t understand what it meant, to Qin Bei’s ears, it sounded like this Yiyi Monster was provoking him.
“Stop right there!”
Qin Bei roared, and the Wan Mie Gun cut through the sky, rushing straight towards the little man.
“Yingyingying~”
There was another whimpering sound, and the next second, the little man mysteriously vanished from sight.
Qin Bei: ???
“Illusion? What is this? His cultivation isn’t high, but how can he escape so well?”
With his double pupils activated, Qin Bei quickly identified the little man’s escape route and continued the chase.
Three minutes later, Qin Bei found himself staring at a towering tree, lost in thought.
“What is this?”
To his surprise, there was such a massive tree in the center of the Imperial Garden.
“Yingyingying~”
Another whimpering sound, but this time it was different—this came from a whole group of little people, including the one Qin Bei was chasing.
It hung from a branch, looking down at Qin Bei with a full dose of provocation.
But at this moment, Qin Bei was too distracted to care about the provocation.
Upon seeing the Yiyi Monsters hanging on the branches, constantly being fed by the big tree, Qin Bei had already deduced what these whimpering creatures were.
Holy Infant Fruit!
A unique spiritual fruit of the Great Xia royal family, the mature Holy Infant Fruit could reach divine quality and could leave the mother tree freely, although not for too long—it still needed to return to absorb nutrients.
This was a coveted treasure in the cultivation world, as it could help cultivators achieve the strongest Nascent Soul.
However, even the royal family only had this one Holy Infant Fruit tree, which had survived for countless years but could not produce a second tree.
Despite numerous attempts by the royal family, they had failed every time.
This extreme scarcity meant that if any major sect wanted a fruit, they had to petition Emperor Xia for permission, and even then, they’d have to be lucky to obtain one.
“Damn! If I get my hands on this, I’ll strike it rich!”
Qin Bei’s eyes sparkled as he gazed at the Holy Infant Fruits before him.
But he was definitely thinking too far ahead…
Just as Qin Bei moved to pick one of the Holy Infant Fruits, a branch obstructed him.
Looking at the towering tree, Qin Bei’s mouth twitched.
As expected, in the world of cultivation, the older they are, the more monstrous they become—this tree was no exception!
“Ahem~ Um… Grandpa? How about we make a deal? I just want one!”
Qin Bei knew he couldn’t overpower the Holy Infant Tree, so he decided to take a softer approach.
Yet, his words garnered no response from the Holy Infant Tree, which simply blocked him from picking any fruit again.
After several attempts, Qin Bei realized this meant it was unwilling.
“Alright! If you don’t want to give it, then I’ll just steal it! For the spirit stones, no shame in that!”
He thought to himself as he prepared to leave, waiting for those whimpering monsters to abandon the Holy Infant Tree before making his move.
But just as he turned around, a nauseating aura emanated from within the Holy Infant Tree.
Qin Bei furrowed his brow and looked back at the tree.
Upon closer inspection, he discovered that at the very bottom of the Holy Infant Tree, there was a small tree hole, just big enough for a person to slip through.
And that unpleasant aura was seeping out from inside it.
“Demonic energy?!!”
…
