Chapter 135: A Dreamy Transformation
Word on the street was that the Nangong family had a ton of enemies.
Liu Shunyi and Zhao Gou’s attitudes towards the Nangong family underwent a complete 180.
They became overly enthusiastic.
“Come, come, come! Have you been waiting long? Let’s go inside for some tea!”
Nangong Basha wiped the sweat off his forehead.
A bit dazed, he nodded, “Uh, okay!”
Once they stepped into the small courtyard, Liu Shunyi asked again, “Have you eaten?”
Nangong Basha instinctively shook his head.
Liu Shunyi looked at Zhao Gou.
With a flash of understanding, Zhao Gou exclaimed, “Bring out the feast!”
Not long after, a grand spread of food was laid out.
Liu Shunyi and Zhao Gou pulled Nangong Basha over for the meal.
After taking a bite, Nangong Basha was left awestruck.
These dishes were utterly divine!
This so-called King of Hell’s place was indeed mysterious.
And everything—beverages or meat—was ridiculously fresh.
The texture even had an active, vibrant quality to it.
Liu Shunyi watched as Nangong Basha and the others devoured the food with the enthusiasm of someone who hadn’t eaten in ages, feeling a bit sorry for them.
“Are you still hungry?”
Nangong Basha awkwardly glanced at Liu Shunyi.
Liu Shunyi looked back at Zhao Gou.
Zhao Gou understood immediately.
“Bring more dishes!”
As soon as Zhao Gou finished speaking, several Ghost Face Mask People scurried in with livestock.
Zhao Gou, brandishing a knife, swaggered over.
Chop chop chop…
“Moo~ Bleat… Oh…”
With swift strokes, Zhao Gou carved up the livestock, then healed their wounds right after.
“Cough… cough cough cough…”
Seeing such gruesome work from the living King of Hell, Nangong Basha spat out his drink in shock.
Now he understood why the King of Hell’s ingredients were so fresh.
After slicing the meat, Zhao Gou instructed the cooks.
Nangong Basha felt a bit uneasy.
Liu Shunyi quickly chimed in to explain.
“At first, we did it the direct way, but a fairy said we were too cruel. Instead of killing outright, we should just take a slice and let them live; it’s a fantastic approach!”
Nangong Basha swallowed hard.
He looked at the crying livestock and thought, you might as well put them out of their misery.
But he didn’t dare voice that thought.
So, Nangong Basha forced a smile and nodded.
“Yes, yes, of course, there’s indeed wisdom in the King of Hell’s methods!”
Zhao Gou added, “This way is actually quite beneficial, as it helps me refine my healing skills.”
At this moment, Nangong Basha felt like he was sitting on needles.
Watching Zhao Gou’s horrifying techniques, he couldn’t help but think of his own demise.
Just the thought of how tragically he could end up… he felt a bit queasy!
He quickly forced himself to stop dwelling on such thoughts.
Once the feast was nearing its end, Liu Shunyi cheerfully asked—almost sheepishly fumbling his words—“Ahem, so I’ve heard you have many enemies—why not share a bit?”
Nangong Basha scratched his head.
“Well, Lord King of Hell, I might have a few too many enemies, even the court has it out for me!”
Nangong Basha wasn’t sure, worried that he would be wiped out entirely.
What if this whole blabbering led to doom for his family?
But to his surprise, Liu Shunyi was ecstatic.
“Well, that’s great! Let’s start with the strong enemies in the vicinity!”
Nangong Basha paused for a moment, then cautiously said, “Well, there’s really one—a Minister of War named Li Yang in Daliang. He’s kind of my arch-nemesis, and we…”
Before Nangong Basha could finish, a thunderous roar erupted from the sky.
A bolt of lightning crashed down, shattering Li Yang’s soul in Daliang, knocking him out cold.
“Damn it! Who told you to take action? I finally had an enemy, and you just wiped him out like that!”
Nangong Basha stared blankly: “???”.
Liu Shunyi cursed loudly at the sky, causing the ominous clouds to shift to fluffy white ones.
But Liu Shunyi wasn’t truly angry; after all, they were just taking out enemies for him.
“Alright, alright, hold off for now—I need my enemies to have some use!”
With that, Liu Shunyi tossed a large bag of Blood Pills and Spiritual Soul Pills into the sky.
The ominous clouds twinkled with excitement.
Once that was done, Liu Shunyi turned back to Nangong Basha, looking a bit apologetic. “Sorry, my men just work too efficiently—it’s quite a headache!”
Nangong Basha nearly spat out a mouthful of old blood.
Seriously, is this guy even speaking human language?
Plus, apparently, your men are stationed all over Daliang!
Nangong Basha couldn’t help but feel grateful to his son.
If he hadn’t trusted his son, that could’ve easily been his fate too.
“Let’s keep talking about enemies.”
At this point, Nangong Basha was unsure how to continue.
After a moment of thought, he said, “Actually, Li Yang is affiliated with the Second Prince. Killing him means offending the Second Prince, and that is currently my biggest enemy!”

Liu Shunyi was taken aback. “There’s that connection! Not bad, not bad!”
After pondering a bit, Liu Shunyi looked over at Lin Wudao.
“Make a note for Nangong Basha—if he can take on that Second Prince, I’ll grant whatever the Nangong family desires!”
Lin Wudao nodded with a smile.
“Sure thing!”
Liu Shunyi’s gaze landed back on Nangong Basha.
The more he looked at him, the more he sensed this guy had potential.
That stare made Nangong Basha’s heart race.
“Well, do you have any orders, Two Kings of Hell?”
Liu Shunyi thought for a moment.
“Write down all the details about your enemies!”
Nangong Basha didn’t hesitate one bit.
At that moment, the Shadow Guards began taking notes with admiration.
Lin Wudao, curious, turned to the Shadow Guards.
“What are you writing?”
The Shadow Guards replied, “I realize I’m a bit lacking in comparison to the King of Hell!”
Lin Wudao found this fascinating.
“Oh, you have that kind of insight? Tell me more.”
The Shadow Guards gathered their thoughts and said, “In the past, our intel-gathering was always laborious and costly, often yielding unreliable information. But for the King of Hell? It’s about subduing a super power and then gathering intelligence through them.”
“Wow, the King of Hell’s methods are on another level; I’ve learned something today.”
Lin Wudao took a deep breath.
“Have you ever thought that the reason the King of Hell achieves this so effortlessly is that he can make life worse than death for people? Think you can do that?”
The Shadow Guard’s smile faltered.
But suddenly…
He pulled out a Spiritual Soul Pill, and his eyes lit up.
“My lord, what if I directly extracted a soul and deep-fried it, then offered it another Spiritual Soul Pill when it was down? Repeat this, wouldn’t it match the King of Hell’s level of torture?”
Lin Wudao just stared blankly: “……”
