Chapter 4: Otherworldly Cuisine

Chapter 4: Otherworldly Cuisine

Well, it’s only the second day after my reincarnation, and there’s still more to do.

Dieting isn’t just about exercise; eating habits are crucial too.

The amount served for dinner on the first day was outrageous.

It looked like something you’d see on one of those massive eating contests on TV— gigantic portions of food.

And the dessert afterward was a sugar-laden sweet that was way too cloying.

If I don’t improve this, no amount of exercise will matter,

so here I am in the kitchen.

The chef here, named Hunt, is a top-tier cook,

but under Ballad’s orders, he’s forced to whip up just oversized meals

and annoyingly sweet desserts.

I thought that using a lot of sugar was a status symbol for nobles, since it’s something that common folks can hardly get their hands on.

I feel really sorry for you, Chef Hunt.

I’ve asked Hunt to skip the dessert and tone down the food to normal portions.

There was another reason for coming to the kitchen.

The classic otherworld trope: is there rice around here or not?

Of course, there wasn’t any.

However, Chef Hunt apparently has a hobby of collecting seasonings,.so he had soy sauce, miso, and mirin on hand.

He seems to purchase any unusual seasonings he finds and is trying to come up with new dishes.

Such is the quality of a Duke’s household chef.

But if they have soy sauce, miso, and mirin, there must definitely be rice somewhere, so I’m going to find it.

I even thought about starting rice cultivation in the Duke’s territory.

As a Japanese person, rice is important!

In front of the kitchen stood Cattleya.

“I thought since you went into the kitchen, you might be getting a new snack or something, but what does it mean not to serve dessert after a meal? It’s just too strange for the sweet-toothed young master not to have dessert—as if it’s a joke, haha.”

Seeing Ballad enter the kitchen, Cattleya had been hoping to get her share of the sweets too, but was now disappointed since her guess was way off.

“Ah! The young master is coming out! I can’t get caught!”

In an instant, Cattleya vanished from right in front of the kitchen.

She really does have those assassin skills, huh?

There are 1,079 days left until my scheduled death.
